Abstract

Pluralism means that communication media and aft, are having so much variety. wide spread in society and having many different types. Arts are partola branch of communication media called recreation/entertainment media. In human live or society that plurality is seen much than homogeneity or uniformity. Communicating can be said as a language process by having a conversation, Interaction, and information, data and messages, exchanges through media, one of it is recreation media or arts including handicrafts. Beside the material or media used in arts, arts pluralistic can also be seen ;nets function, technique and message inside the ails. Hand/crafts pluralistic can be classified on their raw matenaiS, productions and functrons.

Abstract

An effort of developing design is required in the attempt of improving the quality of craft product, determining the beauty value and proper function as well as increasing production, thereby improving the competitiveness to reach a wider market. In order to design and art craft work, design picture should be manifested clearly according to the projection shape/picture, perspective picture, ornamental motive applied, measurement in the correct scale, and the material as well as equipment limitation and finishing should be taken into consideration.The art craft is the product of work prioritizing the hand skill with certain technique that is presented beautifully and interestingly so that it will give or generate the inner experience to other human beings who enjoy it.Design development in improving the quality and production capability of craft work can be conducted to one or several elements of it: material change, working process upgrading, new equipment usage, finishing process development, package improvement, function element replacement and marketing channel upgrading.Keywords: design, craft, industry and development

Abstract

Making souvenir by resin technique is chosen within PKM (social service) program because it isunknown at Selo, and easily to do in busy time of youths. Furthermore, it is expected will developand be income source of local society. For this reason, PKM team selects two art groups which willreceive meaningful training and assistance to improve their economic income and revive localtourism object. This PKM aimed to: 1) give a discourse about making souvenir by resin technique,2) introduce and give training about alternative souvenir design, 3) give assistance about makingof model, silicon mold and foundry by resin technique. The method which used is training andassistance. The sequence of activities are preparing module, make coordination with trainees,preparing material and equipment, design souvenir, making model, training and assistance formaking souvenir by resin technique. Training and assistance of PKM conducted in three meetingswith youth organization called Gebyok and three meetings with youth organization called Samiran.Both of them have good participation, enthusiastic and orderly when join the program frombeginning to end. The results of program are: 1) trainees know about souvenir, 2) trainees knowabout material and equipment for making souvenir by resin technique, 3) trainees know aboutfundamental process for making souvenir by resin technique, 4) trainees can make and producesouvenir by resin technique such as: a) key hook with “kuda kepang dance” relief, “topeng” reliefand transparent resin with puppet photograph; b) “Jarang Kepang 1 and 2” relief for wall ornament;c) trainees can mold by resin technique with three small sculptures in “cat”, “girl”, and “bride”model.Key words : resin, souvenir, silicon, and training.
