Abstract

The aim of this action research was improve students’ English learning result especially in communication competency. The learning process was implemented with two cycles (modes), spoken and written English. Each cycle covered four steps, namely “Building Knowledge of the field, “Modelling Text”, “Joint Construction of the Text” and “Independent/Individual Construction of the Text. The implementation of these steps was devided into 3 cycles in action research, cycle I, II and III. Each cycle covered : Planning, Implementation, Observation and Reflection. This research is for students of SMP Muhammadiyah 27 Paciran grade VIII. Motivation and scientific attitude was measured with questionaires. Activities and skill process to communicate in spoken and written were measured with rubric assesment. Cognitive domain was measured with pre-test and post-test. As the result of the research in cycle III the students average score on the Individual Text was 70 which meant ≥ the school passing grade 64. It meant that it fulfilled the achievment indicator.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve learning outcomes of speaking ability and response in English through “Role Play” in SMPM 27 Paciran Lamongan. The subject of the research is grade IX students of the first semester in the academic year of 2018/2019 consisting of 21 pupils. To collect the data, the researcher uses observation sheet and the result of speaking test. The research proses was conducted into two cycles, each cycle consisting of four phases : preparation, implementation, obeservation and reflection. The findings of the research show that Role Play method is effective to improve the students’ activities and the result of speaking test. From the result of the analysis showed that there is an increase of students’ activities in cycle 1 from 76% into 88% on second cycle. The result of speaking test in English increase from the completeness of learning from 57% in cycle 1 into 81% in cycle 2.

Abstract

Abstract : The research in title Talking Circle to Improve Students’ Speaking Ability aims : (1). To know how the teaching and learning of speaking which focused on language components using talking talking circle is, and (2). To describe the improvement of the junior high school students’ speaking ability. This research used a qualitative with Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this research were 19 students of class IX SMP Muhammadiyah 27 Paciran Lamongan. The data was obtained from the process of teaching and learning by the tecnique of observation through observation sheet and vidio recording. The result of this research showed that the process of teaching and learning which focused on four language components using talking circle strategy could run well and the students’ speaking ability improved as well.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research is to improve the students’ ability to write a descriptive text through the use of picture series-aided learning strategy. A class of the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 27 Paciran Lamongan were used as the subject of the study. The required data were collected through the use of a questionnaire, an observation checklist, and a scoring rubric. The datanfrom the questionnaire indicated that the majority of students had a positive attitude toward the use of picture-series to learn descriptive text writing. Moreover, it is found from the observation data that the students participated actively in the learning process. Finally, the study also proved that the strategy improved the students’ writings with an average score increasing from 56.86 (0-100 scale) prior to the teaching learning process to 77.87 at the end treatment.

Abstrak : Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar berbicara dan respon siswa dalam Bahasa Inggris melalui metode pembelajaran “Role play” di SMP Muhammadiyah 27 Paciran Lamongan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX (Sembilan) pada semester satu tahun pelajaran 2020/2021 yang terdiri dari 21 siswa. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan lembar observasi dan hasil penampilan tes berbicara. Proses penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus terdiri dari empat tahap ; perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleks. Penemuan dalam pengamatan ini menunjukkan bahwa metode Role Play efektif untuk meningkatkan aktivitas siswa dan hasil tes berbicara. Dari hasil analisis menunjukkan ada peningkatan aktivitas siswa dari siklus satu 76% menjadi 88% di siklus dua. Hasil tes berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris meningkat dari ketuntasan belajar 57% pada siklus 1 menjadi 81% pada siklus 2. Kata kunci : Kemampuan Berbicara, Aktivitas Belajar, Metode Role Play, Hasil Belajar.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Pengaruh penerapan tehnik Jigsaw dalam meningkatkan aktifitas dan hasil belajar bahasa Inggris di kelas VII SMP Muhammadiyah 27 Paciran tahun pelajaran 2021/2022. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Muhammadiyah 27 Paciran tahun pelajaran 20201/2022. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama 2 (dua) siklus dimana setiap siklusnya terdiri dari : Perencanaan, Pelaksanaan, Pengamatan dan Refleksi, sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi : Data aktifitas siswa melalui pengamatan, Data nilai siswa, dan Data angket yang merupakan tanggapan siswa. Data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan tehnik Jigsaw dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar bahasa Inggris.
