Abstract

This study aims to determine how to provide nutrition that effectively maintains the balance of blood glucose levels and glycemic control. This study uses a narrative literature review method by entering keywords into the Pubmed, Science Direct, CINAHL, Wiley, and ProQuest databases. The results showed that from the search results of 569 articles and obtained ten relevant and qualified pieces, then extracted using the DSVIA method. Provision of nutrition with the continuous method can lower the average blood glucose or reduce the incidence of hyperglycemia. Then the intermittent process significantly reduces hypoglycemia during the meal period, prevents hypoglycemia during the fasting period, and can reduce insulin requirements. In conclusion, enteral nutrition needs to be modified so that nutrition and insulin administration time can be practical and effective in controlling critical sugar levels. Keywords: Bolus Feeding, Continuous Feeding, Blood Glucose, Intermittent Feeding, Enteral Nutrition

Abstract

Background: In the face of disasters, preparedness is the key to safety. This shows that there is a need for a preparedness plan in the field of disaster nursing, especially earthquakes so that it can minimize losses that will occur. Objective: This review aims to improve a practical understanding of earthquake disaster preparedness. Method: Search articles using keywords in the Pubmed, CINAHL, Science Direct, and Official Website databases with the criteria for articles using Indonesian or English, full text available published between 2011 and 2021. The search results obtained 667 articles and obtained 7 relevant articles. Result: Earthquake preparedness plans need to be anticipated starting from the family structure which emphasizes that each individual and family personnel have a role in earthquake disaster preparedness, as well as in community and community settings which emphasize cooperation, disaster mitigation, and post-disaster recovery plans. Conclusion: Understanding, awareness, and ability related to earthquake disaster preparedness for individuals, families and the community needs to be improved through health education, training, and disaster simulations and needs to be given to the community including disaster awareness, situation and disaster risk analysis, disaster preparedness strategies, prevention, and what to do in the event of a disaster, disaster communication and triage as well as first aid during a disaster and basic life support.

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease still dominates as the highest cause of death in the world. Cardiac arrest is a sudden loss of heart function in someone who has or has not been diagnosed with heart disease. Most cases of cardiac arrest are found around the community environment, for this reason the community has an important role in providing appropriate treatment. The success of handling cardiac arrest by ordinary people is strongly influenced by knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy. The purpose of this activity is to determine the effect of basic life support health education on increasing knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy for lay helpers. The method used in community service is divided into three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation of this activity is carried out online through the zoom meeting application. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge by 52%, an increase in attitude by 8%, and an increase in the self-efficacy of lay helpers by 12%. The conclusion from this activity is that health education is very effective in increasing the knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy of ordinary people to provide basic life support for patients who experience cardiac arrest outside the hospital environment.
