Abstract

The purpose of this study are to determine the effect of the learning models on the learning achievement in Mathematics viewed from the learning independence of the students. The learning models compared were the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, the Problem Posing learning model, and the conventional learning model. The type of this study was a quasi-experimental study with a 3×3 factorial design. The study population was all grade VIII students of State Junior Secondary School 4 Banjarbaru. The samples in this study amounted to 87 students with the details of 29 students for experiment 1 and 28 students for experiments 2 and 30 students for the control class. The data collected instrument used mathematics achievement tests and a questionnaire of student’s learning independence. Based on the hypothesis, the results could be concluded as follows, the learning achievement of the students treated with CTL model was as good as that of those with the Problem Posing learning model. In addition, students’ learning achievement treated by CTL model and Problem Posing better than students treated by conventional learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and produce good quality learning tools on rectangular flat shape material and see the effectiveness of the learning. The population was the VII grade students at Junior High School in South Banjarmasin. Determination of the sample using purposive sampling with research samples SMPN 23 and 28 Banjarmasin. The research design used is a type of development research with a development process using the 4D model and has been adjusted to the research objectives. The results of the development of learning tools in the form of a Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), Student Worksheet (LKPD), and Learning Outcomes Test (THB) are good, namely valid with a little revision, THB meets the criteria of minimum validity is sufficient, the reliability test shows very high correlation practical, and effective seen from effective student activities, positive student responses, and completeness of learning classically achieved, namely 93.54% students complete learning for SMP 23 Banjarmasin and 93.33% students complete studying for SMPN 28 Banjarmasin. The urgency of the results of this study is to contribute to teachers at SMPN 23 and SMPN 28 Banjarmasin to be able to implement and develop the resulting products in the form of contextual-based learning tools. Since this product is a new thing for the schools of SMPN 23 and SMPN 28 Banjarmasin, it can be used as an alternative in learning activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah pada materi bangun datar ditinjau dari kemampuan matematika. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari tiga siswa yaitu siswa yang memiliki kemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah pada kelas V SD. Pemecahan masalah yang digunakan berdasarkan pemecahan masalah Polya, yakni memahami masalah, membuat rencana pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan rencana dan memeriksa kembali penyelesaian yang sudah dilakukan. Keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi waktu yang berbeda. Kemudian, data yang valid dianalisis untuk menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan pemecahan masalah antara siswa yang memiliki kemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Perbedaan tersebut dapat diketahui dari cara siswa dalam memecahkan masalah yang diberikan, yakni Subjek dengan kemampuan tinggi memenuhi semua indikator pemecahan masalah Polya, Subjek dengan kemampuan sedang memenuhi semua indikator pemecahan masalah Polya, namun langkah yang digunakan tidak sistematis. Subjek dengan kemampuan rendah tidak memenuhi indikator pemecahan masalah Polya
