Abstract

This study was to investigate whether or not significant effect of the word formation strategy on grade seven students’ vocabulary learning result at SMPN 20 Bekasi. The sampling technique which used in this research is cluster random sampling, with the total samples is 81 students. The samples consists of 41 students of experimental class and 40 students of control class. The research methodology adopted was quasi experimental method, with the research design used post-test only control group design. The instrument used in this research in an objective test given to the students. The research data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. To indicated significant effect of learning vocabulary through word formation strategy on vocabulary learning result of SMPN 20 Bekasi students, a post-test was used. The results was rejected null hypothesis, It means that learning vocabulary through word formation strategy positively affected SMPN 20 Bekasi students’ vocabulary learning result.

Abstract

This research entitled “Investigating The Effect of Drama as Teaching Technique on Grade Eight Students’ Vocabulary Acquisition at MTs Assyairiyah Attahiriyah Jakarta” principally aims to investigate whether or not drama technique significantly affects students’ vocabulary acquisition. The research samples were taken using cluster random sampling, with the total number of samples being 60 students. The location of this research was MTs Assyairiyah Attahiriyah Jakarta. The research methodology adopted was quasi-experiment method, with the research design being post test only control group design. To collect the data, the students were given the objective test, numbering 30 items. The research data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The findings indicated that there was significant difference of post-test score between the students who received drama technique and students who did not receive drama technique. It can be seen from the data analysis using ANOVA that showed Fobserved (90.988) is higher than the critical value of Ftable (at the significant level of 0.05 and df = 1/84), namely 3.96. it means that drama technique has significant effect on students’ vocabulary acquisition.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out whether or not there is significant effect of crosswords puzzles on Grade Ten Students’ Vocabulary Learning Outcome. The research method used in this research was quantitative true-experimental, and the design was post-test only control group design, meaning the data collected were only through post-test given to both experimental and control groups after treatments. To collect data for the study, the researcher used instrument in the form of objective, multiple choice , numbering 30 question items for both experimental class and control class that have been tried out in grade ten at experimental class. The scores obtained from the try-out class were used to analyze the validity, reliability, discrimination power and difficulty index of each question item in the instrument. The results of test obtained from samples were used to analyze the data using statistical formulas of Independent, t-test, preceded by normality and homogeneity tests as the pre-requisites to data analysis. The analysis using SPSS-based t-test produced significance (Sig.) score of 0.001, which was smaller than (<) Alpha 0.05, while the score of tobserved /to is higher than the score of t-table 4.10. Since the significance (Sig.) score of 0.001 is smaller than (<) Alpha 0.05, and the score of tobserved /to is higher than (>) the score of t-table 4.10, Ho is rejected and HA is accepted. Accordingly the research concludes that there is significant effect of crossword on grade ten students’ vocabulary learning. The keyword: crossword, vocabulary learning outcome

Abstract

This research is analyzes morphological awareness in reading comprehension. The purpose of this research was to analyze the morphology of students' reading comprehension, to identify the types of morphological processes in reading comprehension and to describe the morphological processes in reading comprehension. The method is used in this research is qualitative method. During the current Pandemic, researchers decided to conduct research online through the Zoom application, this research was conducted by examining Jayabaya University students. There were 6 correspondents from the first semester students from several study programs to be given learning material and interviews. In this study, there are two types of instruments used, namely morphological tests and interviews. The way to obtain the results of this research is to analyze morphological awareness in reading comprehension using morphological test instruments and structured interviews. After being given an understanding of morphology, students can take a morphological awareness test in reading comprehension. The results of each student showed a fairly good percentage with the average score they got, namely 92.34.
