Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this research is to know about the correlation between calcium levels and mandibular height and length in elderly patients from panoramic radiographs. Materials and Methods: This study was a cross-sectional observational study, using 15 panoramic radiographs of patients aged 60-80 years, where each subject is taken calcium levels. Radiographs were analyzed to measure the length of the mandibular body and the height of the mandibular ramus. ImageJ software is used as a measuring tool, and the results are then correlated with the Pearson correlation test analysis. Results: This study obtained the average result for mandibular length was ± 10 cm and for mandibular height was ± 7 cm, while the calcium value showed an average value of ± 8.7-10 mg/dl. Pearson correlation test showed no significant relationship between mandibular length and height and calcium levels in the elderly. Conclusion: The conclusion drawn was that there is no significant relationship between mandibular height and length on calcium levels in the elderly as assessed by panoramic radiographs.

Abstract

Objectives: This case report is aimed to describe radiographic features of multiple hypercementosis in an incidental case. Case Report: A 38-year-old man came to the Dental Hospital of Padjadjaran University with a complaint that he had lost some of his teeth and wanted to make dentures because he found it difficult to chew food. Then the patient was referred for a radiographic examination, the results of a panoramic radiograph found abnormalities in the form of thickening of the cementum at the apex of the remaining teeth. The teeth were in vital condition and there were no clinical signs. Conclusion: Based on the examination results, it was concluded that the panoramic radiograph showed excessive cementum thickening and root enlargement on the remaining teeth. This case leads to a radiological diagnosis suspect of multiple hypercementosis or cementum hyperplasia.

Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this case report is to describe the radiograph pattern of non-syndromic multiple odontogenic keratocyst (OKC). The oral and maxillofacial region was frequently affected by the developmental odontogenic cyst known as OKC, which develops from the dental lamina or its remnants. The nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) or the Gorlin-Goltz syndrome was typically associated with multiple OKC; however, in about 5% of patients, there were many cysts without a concurrent syndromic presentation. Case Report: A 38- year-old female came to the dental radiology installation of the Dental and Oral Hospital, Universitas Padjadjaran, who had been referred for a CBCT examination. She had a history with a dentist about 1 month ago, complaining of dislodged fillings on anterior mandible teeth and complaints of missing several posterior mandible teeth. The patient had a previous panoramic examination; multiple radiolucent lesions were found incidentally. She has no pain, and clinical features showed no evidence of swelling; then, the dentist recommended a CBCT examination with a suspect dental cyst on a posterior mandible dextra. Conclusion: Based on the examination results, it was concluded that the cone beam computed tomography examination showed the radiolucent lesion, well-defined with a scallop border; this case was radiodiagnosis as suspected non-syndromic multiple odontogenic keratocyst.
