Abstract

This study aimed to know the students’ attitude toward the use of Google Classroom as an application used in collecting their assignment on Translation subject. The importance of this study was based on the development of IT and the use of mobile application as supporting media in teaching and learning process. In addition, Google Classroom has been used as supporting tool in collecting students’ assignments on several subjects taught at Department FKIP UMMY Solok. One of the subjects is Translation subject that usually contains several assignments that should be submitted by the students directly.This research was conducted by using descriptive method. The subject of this research were third year students of English Department FKIP UMMY Solok in 2017/2018 academic year consisted of 9 students. The instrument of this research was a questionnaire where the students were asked to give respond to each statement in 60 minutes. The questionnaire was based on indicators of students’ attitude that categorized into three aspects: cognitive, affective, and behavior.The result of this study found that students’ attitude toward the use of Google Classroom in collecting their assignment on Translation subject was in the “ good” level. In other word, the students’ attitude toward the use of Google Classroom on Translation subject at third year of English Department students of FKIP UMMY in 2017/2018 academic year Solok was positive. So, it can be concluded that Google Classroom can be used as an effective tool in collecting students’ assignments, especially in Translation subject.Keywords: students’ attitude, Google Classroom, translation subject

Abstract

This research is based on the development of technology that has brought wide impact on teaching and learning process, especially in university level. It can be seen from the use of mobile devices as learning supporting tools for the students. Due to the development, mobile phones and their applications are considered bring good benefits on language learning. One of the forms is mobile based dictionary where there are many kinds of application that can help the students in teaching and learning process. This research aimed to know about types of mobile based dictionary used interestedly by the students at English Department. It also aimed to find out the level of students’ interest in using mobile based dictionary in English. In addition, it meant to know the dominant factors that influence student's interest in using mobile based dictionary in English learning at English Department of FKIP UMMY Solok at 2018/2019 academic year. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative research. It was conducted on the students in English department of FKIP UMMY Solok who are registered on 2018/2019 academic year. Purposive sampling was used as sampling technique, where the samples were chosen because they are registered as active students on that semester. There were 21 students got a questionnaire in order to know their interest in using mobile based dictionary. The result of this research showed that there are several types of mobile based dictionary commonly used by the students. Then, it was found that the percentage of students’ interest was 75%. It means that the students’ interest in mobile based dictionary in English Department of FKIP UMMY Solok in 2018/2019 academic year can be classified into good level. Moreover, internal factors became dominant factors that influence student's interest in using mobile based dictionary in English learning at English Department of FKIP UMMY Solok at 2018/2019 academic year

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the extent of the relationship of motivation to the learning outcomes of students of biaputra muhammad yamin university in the development subject of participants students in the academic year 018/2019. This type of research is descriptive. The population and sample of this study were 10 students in biology education semester II of Academic Year 018/2019. Data were collected using a motivational questionnaire consisting of 0 items. The data obtained is processed using simple linear correlation techniques. From the test r obtained by the price of the correlation coefficient r count = 0.3835 and r table = 0.320 then r count> r table means there is a positive and significant relationship of 0.3835. From the t test, it was obtained tcount = .49 and ttable = .02, it means tcount> ttable in the sense that there was a significant relationship between motivation and learning outcomes of biology education students at the university of mahaputra muhammad yamin in the subject of student development in the academic year 018/2019 on a 95% confidence level. The price of the determinant coefficient = 14.71% then the relationship of motivation with learning outcomes is very low. This means that student learning outcomes 14.71% is determined by motivation, the remaining 85.29% is determined by other factors.
