Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of Problem Solving Model assisted with the self-diagnosis sheet to remediating students' mistake in solving about energy on grade of SMAN 5 Pontianak. The form of research was pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test design. The data collection was used in this research was essay tests of five questions. The research sample was chosen using the Intact Group technique. In generaly the percentage of students’ mistakes completing questions before remediation is 54.32%, while the percentage of students' mistakes completing questions after remediation is 13.81%. The used of self-diagnosis sheet assisted problem solving models was effective in remediating students' mistakes in solving problems with the effect size of 0.75 categorized as high. This research is expected to be used as an alternative learning activity in class to overcome the mistakes in completing questions experienced by students.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the integrated remediation using booklet-assisted CORE leraning model to reduce students' learning difficulties about vibrations and waves at SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak. The research design is One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design with 27 students in class VIII C as samples using the intact group technique. The instruments are two-tiered multiple choice tests to analyze students’ learning difficulties related to concepts and essay tests to analyze students’ learning difficulties related to errors in solving problems. Based on the results, it is found that: (1) Students’ total misconceptions decreasing by 84.2%. (2) There is a significant conceptual change in all test items. (3) All students’ total errors in solving questions decreased by 78.32% (4) There are significant difference between the number of students' initial and final mistakes. (5) The percentage of all students’ learning difficulties decreased by 78.91%. (6) The remediation integration using CORE model assisted by a booklet has a high effectiveness to reduce students’ learning difficulties. The result of this study is expected to be a consideration for teachers in designing learning difficulties’ remediation activities for students, especially about vibrations and waves.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce a qualified diagnostic test that can be used to discover students’ misconceptions about energy in high school’s 10th graders. This research uses Research and Development (R&D) with the form of four tier test. The development of diagnostic test uses the adoption of Borg & Gall development steps that has been simplified into seven steps. The inisial design consists of twelve item of test of multiple choices. The trial step of this diagnostic test was done to 35 students in the in the small scale trial, and 91 students in the large scale trial. According to the data analysis, it can be concluded that the developed diagnostic test is qualified of the use to discover students’ misconceptions, because: 1) has higher validity than table validity, 2) has of reliabily of 0,783, 3) all items of the diagnostic can discover students’ misconceptions, 4) has a diffuculty index 0,38, 5) the level of readability of the questions 0,63. The qualified items that worth of use of this test are twelve items
