Abstract

Human resource is an asset for any institution including Islamic financial institutions. Their performance would also determine the success of the institution. Therefore, this study aims to check the influence of training and working hours variables on the performance of PNM Mekaar Syariah employees Depok. Primary data has been collected through questionnaires. Purposive sampling technique has been used and 67 employees PNM Mekaar Syariah Depok have participated in the questionnaires. For data analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis is employed and processed using SPSS 25. The result shows that based on the t-test, both training and working hours variables do not affect the performance of employees. However, it is found that based on the F test, training variables and working hours are simultaneously affect the performance of PNM Mekaar Syariah employees in Depok City.

Abstract

Sembako (nine staple foods) is basic needs that must be fulfilled in order to maintain the food security and nutritional needs of the community. Therefore, sembako traders have an important role in how sembako items are properly distributed to the community. In achieving this goal, it is suggested that the traders operate based on an ethical business framework. Islam through the Qur'an and hadith has provided this framework in the form of Islamic business ethics principles. By using a qualitative descriptive analytical approach, this study aims to understand how the application of Islamic business ethics in the business activities of basic food traders in Jumbleng Village. The data in this study were collected through a process of observation and interviews. While the data analysis technique uses the analytical technique developed by Miles, Huberman, & Saldana with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of research obtained from traders and buyers in Jumbleng Village, it shows that the principles of Islamic business ethics have not been fully implemented by traders due to their limited knowledge regarding Islamic business ethics.

Abstract

Many studies show that one of the biggest challenges in Islamic banking is related to lack of proper and effective Shariah governance. By focusing on the role of Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB), this paper attempts to extract some keys on how to achieve better performance and development of Islamic banking industry by reviewing previous studies. This study was done by using literature review approach. This study concludes that increasing the size of SSB, improving higher skills and competences of SSB members, keeping the independency of SSB member as well as the need of Central Shariah Board (CSB) and shariah auditor would affect to better performance of Islamic banking.

Abstract

The methodology is important in developing Islamic economics. According to Hafas Furqani, the methodology is still general and has weaknesses, though several studies have classified it into several approaches. Therefore, this study aims to describe Hafas Furqani's thoughts regarding the methodology of Islamic economics in various journals. The method employed a literature review, primarily articles and books written by Hafas Furqani as well as another relevant sources. Subsequently, the results indicated that the development model of this methodology shows the process of preparing a structured economics building and birthing a theory derived from Islamic epistemology. Hafas Furqani stated that Islamic economics can become a new discipline, providing it has a clear subject matter, methodology to appraise theory, systematic accumulation of theory, and a well-organized body of knowledge.

Abstract

Sharia governance is one of the fundamental characteristics that differentiate Islamic and conventional financial institutions. Therefore, the understanding related to sharia governance in Islamic financial institutions such as Islamic banking becomes significant. By using a literature study approach, this paper aims to review and compare regulations related to Islamic financial governance in GCG and ASIA countries. The result shows that the GCC countries and the Asia model of Sharia Governance are a huge difference. The GCC countries use the minimalist model of Sharia governance whereas Asian countries still use the interventionist model. The similarity in this term is about the fundamental of the regulations, which are based on the Quran and Hadith.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the bibliometric characteristics of Islamic microfinance using the Scopus database. This paper also provides recommendations on potential subjects for further study and development. There were 172 data analyzed through bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer software, which enables the display of visualized patterns, such as the co-authorship and co-occurrence of keywords. The result indicated that Islamic Microfinance studies are still limited compared to other topics such as Islamic banks. Therefore, the issue can be overcome by developing a special journal, which focuses on Islamic Microfinance. Several topics were outlined based on the identified topic trends in keywords as references that can be developed for future research. These are the role of Islamic Microfinance related to COVID-19, the development of the halal industry in SMEs, and conflict of interest studies in Islamic Microfinance. This study also highlights the literature on Islamic microfinance specifically on the Indonesian context and its potential forthcoming topic to discuss.
