Abstract

Standards learning competency plant taxonomy is, students can understand and explain the principles of classification, description, identification, nomenclature, and knowing the morphological and anatomical structure of plants. Students can achieve competence learning if the student successfully mastered the material plant taxonomy. The absence of appropriate learning media to optimize students' understanding of the taxonomy of plant material can cause difficulties or obstacles for students to understand the material plant taxonomy. Therefore, the development of instructional media in the form of Pteridisc needs to be done. The purpose of this study was to determine the end product of learning media Pteridisc on the subject of Pteridophyta and to determine the response students of Biology Education PMIPA FKIP University of  jambi to use as a learning medium Pteridisc plant taxonomy. Based on the results obtained validation, assessment for each indicator on the design aspects of the media were on both criteria with the average percentage of 75%, and ratings for the indicators on the material aspects of the media are on the criterion of good and very good, with a mean percentage of 86, 7%. Student responses to assessment of each indicator in the trial against the use of a small group of media currently on the criteria very well with the average of the responses given percentage 94.23%, and student responses to assessment of each indicator in a large group trials are in very good criteria with the average percentage of 87.82%. It can be concluded that the instructional media products Pteridisc subject Pteridophyta included in the criteria very well, so it can be used by the student in learning activities.   Keywords: development, instructional media, taxonomy Pteridophyta

Abstract

The humans’ respiratory system is one of the material subject biology in eight grades of junior high school. Human respiratory system material requires an understanding of the concept. The use of interactive multimedia is one way to presenting the material. Based on the observation in SMP 24 Jambi found that the students are difficult to understand the material because the teacher is not optimal in using the media. Therefore, the teachers need a learning media to describe the material. Interactive multimedia flash can be used as the media. The purpose of this research is to develop and to know the students responses in the multimedia interactive learning material on the human respiratory system for junior high school in VIII class using Adobe Flash Professional Cs6. This research is the development research. The research design in this study follows the ADDIE development model.ADDIE development model has five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Before the multimedia product tested it will be validate by the expert to determine the feasibility of the product, the team experts are material expert and media expert. The result of the validation from material expert obtained 87.1 % score with very good categories and the result of the validation from media expert obtained 80% score with good categories. The students’ response to the media for small group is in very good category with of 87.8% and for large group is classified in very well category with 87.1%. Based on the result, the conclusion this study is the multimedia interactive learning on the material of the human respiratory system got a very good response from the students. Multimedia interactive learning on the material in the human respiratory system can help the teacher in the learning process and can be used as self-learning that students can use at school and outside school hours.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. This study aims to determine students' critical thinking skills across an interest in learning biology class X IIS SMA 11 Jambi. The design of this research is descriptive research with quantitative and qualitative research methods. Sources of data in this research is observation sheet, self-assessment questionnaires and assessment questionnaires among students. The results showed the students' critical thinking abilities viewed from 5 critical aspects of forward- thinking that provide a simple explanation of 56.34%, 69.79% Developing basic skills, Summing up 63.66%, 59.69% providing further explanation, set the strategy and tactics 69, 84%. Based on the observation of the students' critical thinking skills that are in the interest of cross criterion was 7.5%, and 92.5% higher. And based on self-assessment questionnaires, critical thinking ability of students is at a low 2.5% criterion, was 37.5%, 32.5% high, very high 27.5%. Based on the assessment questionnaire among students, students' thinking skills are the criteria were 70%, 20%, very high 7.5% and 2.5% lower. This study concluded that the level of critical thinking skills of students cross an interest in learning biology class X IIS SMA 11 Jambi are on average medium and High criteria. Based on this study suggested needs teacher effort in improving students 'critical thinking by using the right strategies that can foster students' critical thinking skills.
