Abstract

Abstract: The Church is part of the participants, together with humanitarian agencies to deal with poverty and natural disasters. The problem is that the church has not yet established a long-term deaconal service, in response to the increasing intensity of poverty and natural disasters. This condition makes the church need to have a biblical concept of giving. The text the author is referring to is 2 Corinthians 8-9. This text is a discussion of the gifts collected for the Jerusalem church. This topic is studied with hermeneutical approach through the steps of analyzing the story behind the text, the flow of the text's delivery, and the theological significance. At the end of this paper, the author finds that the role of God in the act of giving becomes the basis for building a critique of the church's social service orientation. Then the combination of koinonia-diakonia which is manifested in the formation of a diakonia institution, becomes a practical solution for effective service. Abstrak: Gereja adalah bagian dari partisipan, bersama dengan lembaga-lembaga kemanusiaan untuk menangani kemiskinan dan bencana alam. Masalahnya adalah gereja belum memiiki pelayanan diakonia jangka panjang, dalam merespons peningkatan intensitas kemiskinan dan bencana alam. Kondisi ini membuat gereja perlu memiliki konsep memberi yang alkitabiah. Teks yang menjadi acuan penulis adalah 2 Korintus 8-9. Teks ini adalah pembahasan mengenai pemberian yang dikumpulkan untuk jemaat Yerusalem. Topik ini dikaji dengan pendekatan hermeneutika melalui langkah-langkah analisis cerita di balik teks, alur penyampaian teks, dan makna teologis. Di akhir tulisan ini, penulis menemukan bahwa peran Allah dalam tindakan memberi, menjadi landasan untuk membangun kritik terhadap orientasi pelayanan sosial gereja. Kemudian perpaduan koinonia-diakonia yang terwujud dalam pembentukan lembaga diakonia, menjadi solusi praktis untuk pelayanan yang efektif. Abstract

The writing of this article is motivated by the author's struggles regarding the failure of the concept of compatible marriage, in the definition of “one faith”, to maintain a Christian marriage.  Not a few Christian families whose household ends in divorce, even though it was built on the basis of one faith or one religion. This situation motivates the writer to formulate another parameter of compatible marriage, besides “one faith”. To solve this problem, the author reinterprets the text of 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1, in a tradition-critical approach, namely the endogamy tradition. In this paper, the author finds that in addition to spiritual or faith compatibility, compatible marriage also includes ethnic equivalence, ethical references, and socio-political paradigms. The integration of these four aspects will construct the concept of a compatible marriage and become an evaluative material for Christian marriage. Abstrak: Penulisan artikel ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pergumulan penulis mengenai kegagalan konsep pernikahan yang sepadan dalam definisi “satu iman”, untuk mempertahankan pernikahan Kristen. Tidak sedikit keluarga Kristen yang rumah tangganya berakhir dengan perceraian, padahal dibangun di atas dasar satu iman atau satu agama. Situasi ini memotivasi penulis untuk merumuskan parameter lain dari pernikahan yang sepadan, selain satu iman. Untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini, penulis melakukan reinterpretasi terhadap teks 2 Korintus 6:14-7:1, dalam pendekatan kritik tradisi, yakni tradisi endogami. Dalam tulisan ini, penulis menemukan bahwa selain kesejajaran spiritual atau iman, kesepadanan dalam pernikahan juga mencakup kesepadanan etnis, referensi etis dan paradigma sosio-politis. Integrasi dari keempat aspek ini akan mengonstruksi konsep pernikahan yang sepadan serta menjadi bahan evaluatif bagi pernikahan Kristen.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the encounter between the diversity of alternative conflict resolutions in Indonesia, ranging from state courts, customary courts, and church pastors, with Paul's criticism of the implementation of conflict resolution outside the church in Corinth. Therefore, the author aims to interpret Paul's criticism in 1 Corinthians 6:1-9a, so that it is not misinterpreted as a rejection of various alternative conflict resolutions in Indonesia. The author analyzes this text using a historical critical approach. The author assumes that the historical conditions in the writing of the epistle of 1 Corinthians is the motive for Paul’s criticism. At the end of this paper, the author finds that Paul's criticism in the text of 1 Corinthians 6:1-9a does not reject the existence of state and customary courts but seeks to summon the church to play a role in preventing, minimizing, and carrying out conflict resolution by implementing Christian values.

Abstract

The book of Revelation is the most difficult part to study or interpret of all the books in the Bible. This difficulty makes this book “difficult” to function as the word of God. This condition encourages the writer to examine the book of Revelation and its benefits for the life of the congregation. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the author examines various literatures to discuss the genre, background and method of interpreting the book of Revelation. At the end of this paper, the author finds that the book of Revelation is an important book to help the church respond to various challenges both from within and from outside the church.

Abstract

Abstract: The environmental pollution rate in Indonesia is still high in 2021. Some cases of pollution and forest fires in the mass media further confirm that the environmental crisis is still a struggle for the Indonesian people. The church as part of society must participate in solving this problem. To participate in efforts to build the church's ecological awareness, the author interprets the text of Colossians 1:19-20 through an ecological hermeneutic approach. Specifically, this text contains reconciliation from God to all things. The results of the author's interpretation indicate that reconciliation from God implies the restoration of creation towards its creation purpose. At the end of this paper, the author seeks for the church to make conservation ministry a part of ecclesiastical ministry to bridge the gap between the implications of God's reconciliation and and the current ecological facts. Keywords: Colossians 3, conservation, ecology, environmental crisis, reconciliation. Abstrak: Angka pencemaran lingkungan di Indonesia masih tergolong tinggi di tahun 2021. Beberapa kasus pencemaran dan kebakaran hutan di media massa mengindikasikan bahwa krisis lingkungan masih menjadi pergumulan masyarakat Indonesia. Gereja sebagai bagian dari masyarakat wajib berpartisipasi menyelesaikan masalah ini. Untuk berpartisipasi dalam usaha membangun kesadaran ekologis gereja, penulis menginterpretasi teks Kolose 1:19-20 melalui pendekatan hermeneutik ekologi. Secara spesifik teks ini memuat rekonsiliasi dari Allah kepada segala sesuatu. Hasil interpretasi penulis mengindikasikan bahwa rekonsiliasi dari Allah mengimplikasikan pemulihan ciptaan menuju tujuan penciptaannya. Di akhir tulisan ini, penulis mengupayakan agar gereja menjadikan pelayanan konservasif sebagai bagian dari pelayanan gerejawi untuk menjembatani kesenjangan antara implikasi rekonsilisasi Allah dengan fakta ekologis masa kini. Kata-kata Kunci: ekologi, Kolose 3, konservasi, krisis lingkungan, rekonsiliasi.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an alternative regarding the attitude that the church should have in dealing with crises. The crisis referred to here refers to an economic recession. Following up on this effort, the author examines the story "The Origin of Sticky Rice" with the Story of Elijah and the Widow in Sarfat according to the text of 1 King 16:29-17:24, using a cross-textual reading approach. Based on the analysis, the writer finds that a crisis is not a reason not to share. Instead, God perpetuates its maintenance through human faith and obedience to Him and by way of acceptance, hospitality, and sharing with others.

Abstract

The background of this article is the ineffectiveness of church services due to the congregation's economic limitations and their inability to meet the needs of church servants. This article aims to provide an alternative so that the ministry remains effective in the congregation without ignoring the rights of church servants. Therefore, the writer analyzes the text of 1 Timothy 5:17-18 and the masso'bä' tradition in the Taoran community, with the perspective of local theology from Robert Schreiter. The author uses descriptive qualitative research methods through library research and interviews. The author finds that the encounter of the text of 1 Timothy 5:17-18 and the masso'bä' tradition can change the perspective of church ministers and congregations so that they can build reciprocal relationships that “animate each other”. Church servants can serve congregations whose finances are limited, but congregations can meet the needs of church ministers through material assistance and services. Latar belakang artikel ini adalah kurang efektifnya pelayanan gereja akibat keterbatasan ekonomi jemaat dan ketidakmampuan mereka memenuhi kebutuhan pelayan gereja. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan alternatif sehingga pelayanan tetap efektif di jemaat yang terbatas secara ekonomi, tanpa mengabaikan hak pelayan gereja. Oleh karena itu, penulis menganalisis teks 1 Timotius 5:17-18 dan tradisi masso’bä’ pada masyarakat Taora, dengan perspektif teologi lokal dari Robert Schreiter. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, melalui studi pustaka dan wawancara. Penulis menemukan bahwa perjumpaan teks 1 Timotius 5:17-18 dan tradisi masso’bä’ dapat mengubah perspektif pelayan gereja dan jemaat, sehingga mereka dapat membangun relasi timbal balik yang “saling menghidupkan”. Pelayan gereja dapat melayani jemaat yang keuangannya terbatas, tetapi jemaat dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pelayan gereja melalui bantuan materi dan jasa.
