Abstract

This research is based on the ability of mathematical understanding (KPM) of students in class X IPS 3 SMAN 6 Cimahi is still low. From the results of the evaluation of the KPM indicator test on the Three Variable Linear Equation System (SPLTV) material, only 13 students achieved the minimum completeness criteria of 36 students. The research carried out is in the form of classroom action research to improve the learning process in order to improve student learning outcomes in SPLTV material through discovery learning models. This research has been carried out in class X IPS 3 SMAN 6 Cimahi, totaling 36 students. The research instruments were lesson plans and worksheets, and the data collection instruments used were observation sheets and KPM evaluation tools. The observation sheet will be analyzed descriptive qualitatively, and the KPM data will be analyzed quantitatively. Based on the results of the evaluation that has been carried out by the authors, it is obtained: in cycle 1 the student KPM level is 42.78%, in cycle 2 it is 60.55%, and in cycle 3 it is 81.66%. So it can be concluded that learning with the discovery learning model can improve students' KPM.

Abstract

The balance between cognitive and mathematical affective abilities is very important to be mastered by students in order to face future challenges. Background of the research is based on the students’ low ability of mathematical problem solving and mathematical learning activeness. The purpose of this research is finding the relation between students’ mathematical problem-solving ability and students’ mathematical learning activeness by using Realistic Mathematics Education approach using GeoGebra. The method in this research is the experimental research in the form of pre-test-post-test Control Group Design. In addition, the population for this research is the entire Public middle schools (SMP Negeri) in West Bandung regency. From all public middle schools in West Bandung, a school named SMP Negeri 3 Batujajar is randomly selected, and two classes of the 1st-gradestudents of the school are selected as the research sampling data. The first class becomes an experimental class which gains learning using GeoGebra assisted realistic mathematics educational approach and the other class gets common learning. The result of the research shows that there is a more positive relationship between mathematical problem-solving ability and mathematical learning activeness of learning by using Realistic Mathematics Education approach with GeoGebra rather than using common learning. In addition, the approach gives positive impacts, such as more interactive learning, understanding concepts, and more meaningful learning.

Abstract

The study aims to provide results from an analysis of the need for such materials as ICT at Senior High School levels. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through Google form spread by the respondents of 5 math subjects from several Senior High Schools and 10 students at one Senior High School in Sukabumi district. The angular instruments used in this study are based on three things: math study, mathematical materials, and the use of ICT with the analysis techniques used are (1) studying all the data gathered, (2) studying the open angular response results (3) describing ICT - supported teaching needs. Based on the results of this research analysis, math learning uses a saintifical approach and a variety of approaches consistent with the material and the characteristics of he student, the study of mathematical materials is desirable when the relative material is easy to understand, and the use of ICT is essential because it can not only accommodate and strengthen the student's imagination in understanding mathematical materials. Thus, teaching that is appropriate and can sustain students' ability in the learning process, which is in the LKS form by providing ict assistance.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find the correlation between mathematical generalization skill and student’s self-concept in learning activities by using learning strategy based on VBA’s Microsoft Excel. Experimental method is used in the research with 2 different classes. The first class is given by VBA Microsoft Excel learning based, while the other class is given common learning method. In addition, the data sample used in this research are all Junior High School in Cimahi, one school is selected randomly and SMP Negeri 4 Cimahi has been selected. The Sample chosen is the 8th grade pupils which selected randomly. One class as experiment class, and the other is controlled class. The result of the research is obtained from mathematical generalization skill test instrument of phytagoras and self-concept skill inquiry as non-test instrument. Mathematical generalization skill post-test result and final inquiry are analyzed by using Spearman to find the correlation. The result shows that there is a correlation between mathematical generalization skill and student’s self-concept in learning mathematics.

Abstract

Mathematics is very important to be taught to students so that they can have and apply mathematical thinking patterns in everyday life and become a reference for studying various other branches of science. One of the Mathematics materials is logarithm material where students often make mistakes when solving these problems, so this study aims to analyze student errors in solving a number of logarithm material problems using the Kastolan procedure. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with the research subject of 10 students of class X Pharmacy in one of the Vocational High Schools in West Bandung. The research instrument used a logarithm material description test instrument as many as 5 questions. Data analysis techniques applied are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research data, it was concluded that students made conceptual errors, namely the inability of students to apply the concept of the properties used, procedural errors in which students could not solve the problem until they got the final solution, and technical errors occurred because students were wrong in doing calculations so as to produce answers wrong.

Abstract

This research is Classroom Action Research which aims to improve mathematics learning and students' motivation to learn mathematics in one of the MTs in Cimahi City by using a problem-based learning approach to class IX students. This research consisted of three cycles with 10 students as the subject. The research instrument used consisted of an affective assessment instrument and a cognitive test using a learning motivation attitude scale and teaching materials in the form of LKPD categorized as successful to increase student learning motivation, which was above 80%. For the mathematics learning outcomes of students in cycle 1, it shows 40% or an average value of 64, for cycle 2 it shows 60% or an average value of 71, for cycle 3 it shows 80% or an average value of 84. Meanwhile, for cycle 1, students' learning motivation shows 74 %, in the second cycle the student's learning motivation showed 78.4%, and the third cycle of the student's learning motivation showed 81.4%. So that each cycle for mathematics learning outcomes and students' learning motivation using a problem-based learning approach increases even though there are still some obstacles during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between students' mathematical communication skills in terms of self-efficacy in line gradient material. This is because the achievement that students have is still relatively minimal or low. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method with samples taken from one of the schools in Cimahi with one class of research subjects. Where the instrument that the researcher uses is a description of the student's communication ability test and non-test in the form of a self-efficacy attitude scale (questionnaire). The conclusion obtained in this study is that mathematical communication skills in terms of self-efficacy in students who have high communication skills have high self-efficacy because in mastering the concept they have met the criteria but there are also some students who have high self-efficacy but in mastery of skills. communication is still low.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of the discovery learning model and to determine student learning outcomes after the application of the discovery learning model to mathematical problem solving abilities. The subjects of this research were 12 students of class IX E SMP Bhakti Mulya Batujajar in the academic year 2021/2022. Data collection techniques through pretest and posttest, teacher and student observation sheets, interviews and questionnaires. This research was conducted in 2 cycles with each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the application of the discovery learning model went well and had an impact on increasing students' mathematical problem solving as seen from: 1) students were able to understand problems as many as 10 people (83%), 2) students were able to plan problem solving strategies as many as 9 people ( 75%), 3) students were able to do problem solving strategies as many as 10 people (83%), 4) students were able to check the correctness of the answers or the results obtained as many as 8 people (67%). Based on the description above, it is concluded that the application of the discovery learning model can improve mathematical problem solving abilities.

Abstract

This study analyzes students' errors in doing exercises on the material of Straight-Line Equations (PGL) based on the Newman procedure. This research was conducted at one of the schools in Cianjur area, with the research subject of 12 students. The method used in this analysis is the qualitative descriptive method because it will describe the form of student errors. The data collection technique uses 5 test items. The questions were made according to the predetermined indicators of achievement of basic competencies. Furthermore, based on students' answers, the researcher analyzed the extent to the students' errors in solving PGL questions. The results showed that: (1) 50% had errors in reading problems, namely students were less careful; (2) 16.7% experienced errors in understanding the problem, namely not being able to understand (3) 66.7% experienced problem transformation errors, namely difficulties in making graphs from the instructions presented, and students did not correctly convert the information obtained into PGL graphs; (4) 50% experienced errors in process skills, namely students were not able to solve the problems and be careless in the calculation process; (5) 83.3% experienced writing errors/answer notation, namely incorrectly in writing negative signs, symbols, equals signs, not writing variables and conclusions.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research (CAR) with the main objective of improving students' Mathematical Comprehension Ability (KPM) in algebraic form with the help of the application of a scientific approach. This research is motivated by the lack of student KPM in learning mathematics. This CAR is carried out with research stages including (1) Planning (Planning), (2) Action (Acting), (3) Observing (Observing) and (4) Reflecting (Reflecting). This study has a subject, namely 16 students in class VII C SMP Bhakti Mulya Batujajar with data collection techniques through pretest and posttest in the form of 6 questions, teacher observation sheets and student observation sheets. The implementation of this research is for 2 cycles consisting of 4 meetings. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. So the result of this research is that the student's KPM in the first and second cycles increased by 18.75% where in the first cycle students' learning completeness was 68.75% in the second cycle to 87.5%. So it can be concluded that, KPM in learning mathematics can be improved with the help of the application of a scientific approach.
