Abstract

This study used the pre-test post-disigned quasi-experimental method. The purpose of this study was to find out the achievement and improvement of mathematical connection ability of students whose learning using the scientific approach and guided inquiry method was better than those using the scientific approach only. This research was conducted at the junior high school level. The instrument used in this study was a test of mathematical connection ability. The results showed that learning using the scientific approach and guided inquiry method was better than those using the scientific approach only in improving students mathematical connection ability, both from the significance of t-test posttest 0.017 and from the results of the t-test n-gain significance of 0.024. For the difficulty of solving the problem of experimental class mathematical connection ability lies in the percentage of questions number 6 which is 46.9% with indicators applying the relationship of mathematics to everyday problems, while the percentage of achievement in the control class is very low in question number 5 is 46.1% with indicators look for the relationship of one procedure to another in equivalent representations. Learning using the scientific approach and guided inquiry method makes creative students associate concepts or mathematical procedures appropriately.

Abstract

Experimental learning invites students to play an active role during the learning process based on life experiences that can be applied into four stages, namely concrete experience, observation, conceptualization and application. conventional, 2) knowing the improvement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students who get learning using the experiential learning method better than conventional learning. The method used in this study is the experimental method by taking a sample of this study is the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Klangenan in Cirebon Regency. Implementation data with an experimental learning model was obtained through observation sheets and students' mathematical reasoning abilities were obtained through description tests. The results of the study for four meetings showed that there was an increase in the average results of the pretest and posttest. From the results of statistical tests of gain scores obtained from the results of the pretest and posttest on students' mathematical reasoning abilities the average (ẋ) gain for the experimental class is 0.64 with a standard deviation (s) = 0.6 based on these results. that students' mathematical reasoning abilities using experiential learning are better than students who are conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine mathematical communication ability and self-regulated learning mathematics of IX grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Cilamaya Kulon Karawang on circle material and circle tangents. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, where the object of research is class IX students as many as 35 students. This research was conducted on November 20, 2018. The research technique was in the form of a test of 6 items test questions of mathematical and non-test communication ability in the form of a questionnaire with 40 items of self regulated learning mathematical statements and interviews. The results of this study are mathematical communication ability of students classified as moderate with a reliability coefficient of 0.9793 (very high category), having a mean difficulty index of 0.539 (medium category), and a mean differentiation of 0.485 (good category). Student constraints when working on mathematical communication problems on circle material and tangent circle are students who are less able to analyze the core of the problem, students do not understand the form of non-routine questions (mathematical communication), students are confused in determining completion strategies, students cannot visualization, students do not know the terms in mathematics, as well as procedural errors in progress. While for self regulated mathematics students have a good category.
