Abstract

Kajian ini merupakan kajian linguistik yang membahas tentang klasifikasi makna (ditinjau dari ranah komunikasi). Dalam kajian ini di bahas klasifikasi makna atau arti (types of meaning). Pengetahuan mengenai klasifikasi makna sangat penting untuk menentukan interpretasi terhadap makna/arti suatu kata dan meningkatkan pemahaman serta apresiasi terhadap makna-makna linguistik. Pembahasan dalam kajian ini lebih ditekankan pada penggunaan klasifikasi makna secara fungsional.makna secara pada pengunaan tipe-tipe makna secara fungsional. Tipe makna yang yang akan dibahas adalah tipe makna menurut Lyos (1974) yakni seven types of meaning  yang banyak dirujuk dalam pengkajian semantic. Tipe makna (type of meaning) adalah kajian makna berdasarkan tipenya. Tipe adalah pengelompokkan sesuatu berdasarkan kesamaan objek, kesamaan ciri atau sifat yang dimiliki benda, hal, peristiwa atau aktivitas lainnya. Ada berbagai pendapat yang berbeda mengenai klasifikasi makna atau tipe-tipe makna. Salah satu pembagian tipe makna yang sering digunakan dalam pengkajian semantik adalah tipe makna menurut Lyons (1974) yakni seven types of meaning yang terdiri atas arti konseptual, arti konotatif, stillistika, afektif, refleksi, kolokatif, dan arti tematik.

Abstract

This research is aimed to identify the types of error that the sudents make in doing the interlingual transfer and to identify the sources of interlingual transfer. This research was conducted at the second grade students XI.MIPA.1 of SMAN 2 Praya in academic year 2018/2019. The research method used descriptive qualitative method. There were 32 students taken as the subject who comprised 15 females and 17 males. The instruments of the reseach were structed interview and questionnaire. Structed interview was used to find the students error in doing the in interlingual transfer. There were three types of error that the students committed; Omission, Addition, and Misformation. The studensts tend to their first language structure. For the questionnaire, the researcher found the sources of interlingual transfer that the students committed. There were three sources of interlingual tranfer that the students mostly committed in their daily spoken such as; pressure to perform, limited L2 environment, and monitor use and the use of the L1. Based on above, it concluded that the students often commit the interlingul transfer in their daily communication.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the effectiveness of using Thieves strategy toward students’ motivation in reading. The kind of this research was experimental reserach. The population of this reasearch was the first grade students’ of  SMK Darul Quran in academic year 2018/2019. This research took one class as the sample, which consisted of  18 students’. The data of this were primarily gathered from the result computation of  pre-test and post-test which given to the object of the research. In this research the researcher computed the data by using t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, he reearcher found t-test score 4.048 and t-table 1.740 with significant level 0,05%. It means that t-test was higher than t-table. Therefore, the conclusion that there was any significant effectiveness of  using Thieves strategy toward students’ motivation in reading comprehension.
