Abstract

This study examines the cultural significance of bikago that contains the prefix o- and go- in Japanese (anthropological linguistic studies). The purpose of this study is to describe the cultural significance that lies behind the use of the prefix o- and go- on bikago in Japanese (Anthropological Linguistic Study).Theories used in this research are culture, anthropological linguistics, morphology, cultural meaning, whorf sapor hypothesis, nouns and o- and go- prefix theories. The type of method used is a qualitative description with a method of collecting data collected from various books, namely the book Minna no Nihonggo Shokyuu I & II, Minna no Nihonggo Yasashi Sakubun and Basic Kanji Vol II and observations validated by native speakers. The results of this study are vocabularies beginning with o- and go- thirty-two vocabularies all included in the futsuumeishi category 'noun that states a matter or object'. Futsuumeishi ‘noun stating a case or object’ consists of settogo ya setsubigo no tsuita mono (nouns added to the prefixes o- and go-). Data were analyzed based on the meaning of the dictionary and validated by native (Japanese) with informal interview techniques. The conclusion from the results of this study is that every noun or word containing the prefix o- and go- has a cultural meaning with a group and family concept.

Abstract

This research examines the style of language in song lyric entitled “A Stylistic Analysis of Hey! Say! Jump’s Song Lyrics in Jumping Car Album”. This research aims to find out the kinds of language style and describe the meaning of the song lyrics. Language style theory used in this research is theory proposed by Keraf. This research used a descriptive research with qualitative approach. The data collection technique employed in this research was listening and note taking technique. Collected data were analyzed by using equivalent technique and technique of immediate constituent analyst. Data source used in this research is twelve song lyrics in Jumping Car album. The kinds of language style found consists of 3 (three) metaphor, 5 (five) personification, 7 (seven) simile, 16 (sixteen) allegory, 1 (one) eponym, 1 (one) synecdoche, 4 (four) metonymy, 1 (one) epithet, 1 (one) antonomasia, 1 (one) cynicism and 1 (one) sarcasm. The dominant kinds of language in this research is allegory. All of the meaning of the kinds of language which found shows songs in Jumping Car album describing love and life story in which contain happiness and sadness.

Abstract

This research titled “Denotative, connotative and Myth meaning on tanka in Garden of Words novel by Makoto Shinkai (Roland Barthes Semiotic Approach)”. This research aims to interpret denotative, connotative and myth meaning of tanka through semiotic theory by Roland Barthes. The data used in this research are presented in form of tanka and tanka’s paraphrase that found in this novel. Descriptive Qualitative method is preferred as the main method to analyze meanings of the tanka. Technique of data collection in this research is through literature study.

Abstract

The research entitled Semantic Analysis of Japanese Idiom Using Eye Lexem, aims to 1) describe the lexical meaning behind the forming element of Japanese language idioms using eye lexem 2) describe the idiomatic meaning behind the forming element of the Japanese language idioms using eye lexem. The research belong to descriptive qualitative especially using reading and noting method. The result shows that there are 25 eye lexeme idioms, among other things 7 idioms belong to sentiment, 2 of them belong to characters, 12 of them belong to the action and behavior, and 4 of them belong to the value and degrees. Based on the results according to the data source, there are no idioms stating the culture of society. However, it can be concluded that the Japanese idioms using eye lexem are still frequently used.

Abstract

This study is entitled with “An Analysis of the Image of Woman Based on Yukiguni Novel by Kawabata Yasunari” which purposes are to describe the characterization and the image of woman reflected on the main character, Komako. This is a qualitative descriptive study. The data are based on one of Kawabata Yasunari works, Yukiguni, 1971, which presented in narration and dialog to reflect the characterization and describe the image of woman from Komako. The data collecting method chosen is close reading technique (repeat reading). To analyse the finding, the method used in this study is narrative analysis. The findings of this study shown that the main woman character, Komako is described as a person who is easily offended, a drunkard, careless, yet neat. Her profession as Geisha displays a neat and beautiful physical image. Komako, either as a Geisha or Japanese woman, has a physic image who is easily offended, disliking liars, feeling guilty and careless. Other than that, she has a famous social image, as being well know by others, having a high sense of empathy, yet a rule breaker in which resulting her relationship between the environment she is living and herself as a person is inharmonious. To sum up, the physical images possessed by Komako is contrary with her psychic image and social.

Abstract

This research is an analysis expressions of request in japanese language. The purpose of the research is to describe the variation of request expression and the underlying social factors. This type of research is descriptive qualitative in which the data are obtained from 3 Japanese dramas i.e From Five To Nine (5-9 Watashi ni Koi Shita Ikemen Sugiru Obousan), Shokojo Seira and Nigeru Wa Haji Da Ga. Data collection technique used observation and writing technique. Based on the result of analysis from 24 (twenty four) data, there are 5 (five) varian of request expression i.e te itakademasenka, te moraemasenka, te kudasai, te kure, and te. The underlying social factors are namely social discrepancy, social status, and formality.

Abstract

The title of this research is Rendaku Classification in Basic Kanji Books Volume I and Volume II. Rendaku is the change of the non-voice consonants into a voiced consonant. The purpose of this research is to classifying the consonant changes of rendaku in Japanese language. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with data collection technique using the literature study tecniques. The method of analysis in this research is the determinants element technique. There are 38 data in the form of wago containing rendaku changes. Data source taken from Basic Kanji Volume 1 and Volume 2. The results of the analysis in this research found the changes in k→g as many as 10 data, changes in h→b as many as 7 data, changes in s/ts→z as many as 4 data, changes in t→d as many as 4 data. Based on the results of the analysis can be conclude that: 1) rendaku will appears on compound words, 2) rendaku will appear if in the second morpheme there are no other voiced consonant. Rendaku happened to morphemes kawa, kami, kata, kaki, ki, kaeri, kuchi, kuni, kusuri, kuruma, ha, hatake, harai, hiki, hito, hi, hosoi, sakana, sama, tsukuri, tsuyoi, tome, toshi, tomo, tera.

Abstract

The research is entitled The Differences between Setsuzokushi Aida and Aida ni. The aims of this research are to describe the use of sentence structure using setsuzokushi aida and aida ni in Japanese, and to describe the differences of setsuzokushi aida and aida ni usage. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative and the data collection uses library techniques. In total, the data from this research are 19 sentences containing setsuzokushi aida and aida ni taken from Minna no Nihongo Shokyuu I&II, Chukyuu I and Indoneshiago Bunreishuu Nihongo-Indoneshiago (Doushihen) books. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that setsuzokushi aida is a conjunction that describes two activities carried out in the same period of time, continuously and finished simultaneously, whereas setsuzokushi aida ni is a conjunction that explains two activities carried out in the different periods of time and momentarily.
