Abstract

Background: One of the actions that can be taken to accelerate labor and widen the birth canal is episiotomy. If the post episiotomy wound does not receive treatment measures such as exercice, it can cause negative effects such as the length of time the wound heals is at high risk of infection. The purpose of this study is to prove the effectiveness of Kegel Exercise on the healing process of episiotomy wounds in the inflammatory and proliferation phases of post partum mothers. Method: This type of quantitative research with a quasi experimental design of posttest only non-equivalent control group. The research sample of post partum mothers with episiotomy as many as 40 people were divided into two groups: 20 mothers of the intervention group and 20 mothers of the control group, using purposive sampling techniques and Mann Whitney analysis test. Results: p value 0,000 ≤ value α = 0.05 so that Kegel Exercise is effective in the healing process of episiotomy wounds in the inflammatory and proliferative phases in post partum mothers. Conclusion: Kegel exercise can be used as an alternative action that is easy and safe to accelerate the healing process of episiotomy wounds in post partum mothers.

Abstract

The infection can cause the death of 1 in 10 mothers undergoing the postpartum period. This is partly due to the wound that occurs in the perineum, where the wound does not dry easily, so it is at risk of increasing the incidence of infection. The aim of the study was to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of giving boiled eggs and snakehead fish to the healing of perineal wounds in the inflammatory phase in postpartum mothers. This type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent group design. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with the criteria of postpartum mothers on the first day who experienced second-degree perineal injuries, aged 20-35 years, had good personal hygiene and did not experience complications. The number of samples was 30 people, divided into two groups, which are group 1 with the administering of 2 boiled eggs (100g) and group 2 with the administering snakehead fish (50g), the administration time was 5 days. Analysis test using Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney. The results of the Wilcoxon test ρ value 0.000, so that there is an effect of giving boiled eggs and snakehead fish on the process of healing perineal wounds in the inflammatory phase with an average duration of 4 days and the Mann Whitney test with ρ value 0.417 where there is no difference in effectiveness between the two. Boiled eggs and snakehead fish are both effective for consumption to help the healing process of the inflammatory phase of the perineal wound.

Abstract

Quality health services are health services that are provided based on patient needs, not based on what is owned by the service-providing institution. Patients with chronic diseases such as kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis need more supportive nursing care, such as physical and psychological support and information about their condition. This study aims to explore and identify health service needs in patients receiving hemodialysis therapy. This research is qualitative research on phenomenology. Data was collected using semi-structured and in-depth interviews with 17 participants of end-stage renal failure who underwent hemodialysis therapy, selected by purposive sampling. Thematic analysis is used for data analysis. The study found three main themes: services to meet basic needs when hemodialysis therapy was carried out, support received while undergoing hemodialysis therapy, and Various health services that have yet to be received while undergoing hemodialysis therapy. It can be concluded that identifying service needs positively impacts service quality as healthcare workers will better understand patient expectations. Hemodialysis patients have basic physical, psychological, and support needs. Unmet needs include inadequate drug therapy, health workers, and unmet information needs. Healthcare providers should develop strategies to manage these needs, including physical and psychological modification, improvement of facilities, infrastructure, human resources, and interdisciplinary approaches.
