Abstract

In 2018, Mobile Legends launched animation of a hero Kadita which was inspired by the legend of Nyi Roro Kidul. Kadita’s design was adapted to popular culture, with a traditional Indonesian (Javanese-Balinese) aesthetic. In Kadita’s introduction animation, there were visual elements inspired by Indonesian culture with traditional background music. This study aimed to examine whether the visual elements of Indonesian culture were displayed correctly, alongside with the response of millennial and z generations toward the animation. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach through interviews with experts on Indonesian traditional culture and through focus group discussions with millennials and z generations to find out their responses toward traditional Indonesian culture displayed in popular media. Primary data collection was carried out through a literature review on traditional culture and popular media. The conclusion of this research, the animation of “Kadita the Ocean Goddess” succeeded in adapting traditional Indonesian elements in popular media. The results of the FGD showed that the target audience responded positively to the traditional culture displayed in popular media. This research can be used as a basis for thinking and designing strategies in an effort to introduce Indonesian traditional culture to the younger generation using popular media. Abstract

The Rishii Mascot Character Design According to the Guri Ramen Brand Personality. Guri Ramen is the first halal ramen restaurant in Surabaya with the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of Sapporo-style ramen. Guri Ramen wants to present a mascot to assist promotional activities and increase awareness of the target market. The purpose of this research is to design the Rishii mascot character which will be used to strengthen the brand image and promote Guri Ramen. This research was conducted using qualitative methods and literature studies. The literature study was conducted to find information regarding the design and use of mascots in promoting a brand. The design process begins with analyzing the brand, competitor research, and USP analysis using the Value Proposition Canvas, and finally finding the personality of the Guri Ramen brand. The result of this design is a character named Rishii which is a visualization of the personality of the Guri Ramen brand, which is then applied to various promotional media for the brand. Abstract

ABSTRACT Every human being is born with various types of characteristics that are different from one another. To find out the type of characteristics in humans, experts from ancient times until now have continued to study this topic, for example by taking an individual approach such as conducting a personality test. One of the personality traits that are well known to both the general public and psychologists is the introvert and extrovert personality. However, the representation of characters with introverted personalities in the media is still not displayed properly, creating negative stereotypes and misconceptions in society, including in Indonesia. With the rapid development of technology, such as the existence of social media platforms, it makes it easy to share information quickly and easily. Making digital comics on Instagram as a communication medium can be effective because the younger generation prefers visual content. The sources reviewed in this literature study use reliable, registered, and have a DOI / ISBN source. Abstract

Every human being is born with different characteristics from one another. To find out these types of characteristics, psychologists from ancient times did various ways to continue to study them, such as taking an individual approach, namely through personality tests. One personality type that has been widely recognized is the extrovert and introvert personality. But unfortunately introverts don't get positive treatment like extroverts due to the characteristics of introverts who don't like interaction, causing a bad stigma in society to bring negative stereotypes. That's why there needs to be an interesting representation of introverts in order to slowly educate them. A digital comic project was designed called Semangat Rani which raised the topic of introverted personality through the daily narration of the main character Rani as an introvert's personal point of view while at the same time providing insight into the mascot in the comic, namely the background story to convey messages through storytelling in comic scenes so that readers can sympathize or connect directly also could be it own brand identity which is aimed at an audience in Indonesia with an age range from teenagers to young adults 15 – 25 years old through the social media Instagram. This study will use data collection methods from literature studies, interviews and surveys. The purpose of this research is to find out whether the content is effective or correct and its promotional media through the characterization of Rani's character as the mascot for Semangat Rani the comic with the hope that the design of the Semangat Rani the comic can slowly awaken awareness to the audience about introverts so that they can change the bad stigma that surrounds them all about this personality.
