Abstract

Goats are one of the small ruminant livestock that are widely kept in Indonesia to improve the community's economy. One of the determining factors for the success of a goat farming business is feed. About 60-70% of the total cost of livestock production is feed. As the biggest production cost, providing feed with quality and quantity in accordance with the physiological status of livestock will have a positive impact on productivity. The method used in this study is a qualitative description approach. There were 6 goats observed in this study with different ages. The data collection technique in this study was observation and documentation which was carried out directly in the goat pen. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the types of forage consumed by PE goats in Samarinda City are divided into three major groups, namely grasses (Graminae), legumes (Leguminosa) and leaves. The most dominant forage consumed by PE goats is the leguminous species with a rayutan species (Mikania micranta). Daily Body Weight Gain in PE goats in this study ranged from 143 g/day to 571 g/day.
