Abstract

Human Resource Development basically can only be done through education. Without education there will be no development and it means there will be no change. Education and learning is essentially the life itself. Therefore, learning outside school (Informal education) increasingly plays important role. In the past school and college was the only centers of learning activities. But this time, the family and society has gradually become a new learning center and has become an important place to study. The national education system insists that there are three educational pathways that people can undergo; formal education, non-formal and informal ones, which interrelate and support each other. Through three centers of the educational subsystems man is expected to face the future challenges, as well as being intelligent, skilled, religious, independent and responsible. Outside school education revitalization is felt as a demand. In this case the non-formal education as a humanist and ideal formula for creating the good future of mankind.

Abstract

Muhammad Saifuddin Unipdu – Jombang saifuddin.unipdu@gmail.com Abstract Language acquistion and learning posit the way children get their second language. It defines the process of getting the language in which they may develop it in different circumstance. In the early ages, they acquire their second language in which it can be done through children - mother‟s communication or even through their social communication. Later, they tend to learn the second language. On the other hand, as they grow older and become adult, they conciously learn language. However, it is not always assumed that adult get their second language through learning but it is rather acquiring. Adult have more time exposure to a language acquisition that it shows their acquisition process is bigger than children‟s. The input also determines the acquirers to stimulate the language production where it refers to language competence and language performance in which both of them are also the principle of language acquisition. Keywords: Acquisition, Learning, Language Process Abstrak Proses pemerolehan dan belajar bahasa mengandaikan cara anak-anak mendapatkan bahasa kedua mereka.

In line to the research purpose, a qualitative research design was applied within interview and questionnaire. Furthermore, based on teacher’s reflection, it was revealed that during learning activities the students acted unmotivated and lack of confidence; they lacked English interest; and HOTs was not applied properly based on its stages. Then, decision making was established in terms of teaching strategies and lesson planning. In conclusion, despite the importance of creating HOTS to invite students to be creative and critical, problems still remained.
