Abstract

Aromatherapy can be used to reduce post-sectio caesaria (SC) pain. In this study, the aromatherapy used was orange essential oil. This quasi-experimental study used a pre and posttest design with control group. The sample of the study was 74 mothers with 24 hours post-SC. The treatment group was the mothers who were given orange essential oil aromatherapy (37 people), while the control group was those who were not given (37 people). Sampling technique used consecutive sampling. Data collection about the characteristics of the respondents was done using a questionnaire, while the measurement of pain was carried out using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) observation sheet. The analysis consisted of bivariate analysis with Wilcoxon test. There was a decrease in the pain scale in the treatment group after being given aromatherapy essential oil orange from 4.14 ± 1.669 to 2.59 ± 1.334 (p-value = 0.000). In the control group, the change was from 2.86 ± 0.419 to 2.78 ± 0.479 (p-value = 0.373). This meant that the treatment group showed higher reduced pain than the control group. Therefore, orange essential oil aromatherapy was effective in reducing pain scale 24 hours post-SC.

The technique of sampling is consecutive sampling. Before the intervention, the treatment group and the control group measured the pain scale using the Numerical Rating Scale. Treatment group was given 10% lavender essential oil aromatherapy 3 drops by using tissue media, then inhaled fragrance for 5 minutes at 10 cm distance. After 30 minutes of aromatherapy, patients assessed the scale of the pain. Aromatherapy is given only once at 24 hours post-SC. The results showed that the scale of pain post SC before giving aromatherapy in the control group was 3.82 while in the treatment group, it was 3.62. After giving aromatherapy it was found that the pain scale in the treatment group was 2.53, whereas in the control group 4.65. There was a significant difference of pain scale of 24 hours post SC between control group and treatment group. Lavender essential oil aromatherapy dominant influence on the reduction of pain scale of 24 hours post SC (p-value<0.05) as much as five times greater than those mothers who did not use aromatherapy. Lavender Essential Oil Aromatherapy can be used as one of the solutions in treating pain after sectio caesarea surgery.

Abstract

A well-planned pregnancy procedure will benefit the fetus's health and the mother's physical and psychological adaption to pregnancy. Unwanted pregnancies and on-time pregnancies in a woman might be classified as situations of unmet need. Along with pregnancy, this influence on the mother's unpreparedness to conceive can even lead to the decision to undergo an unsafe abortion. This study aimed to elicit data on the features of premarital couples' preparation for a safe pregnancy and their association with knowledge about pregnancy preparation. The study used a cross-sectional design and purposive sampling to examine 57 premarital couples and then utilizing the chi-square to analyze data. The study's findings indicate that respondents will marry at a high risk of pregnancy. There are still some couples who lack adequate knowledge about pregnancy preparation and have not received adequate counseling. There is a significant relationship between the bride and groom's ages and their level of knowledge about preparing for a healthy pregnancy (p-value 0.000), level of education and level of knowledge (p-value 0.000), perspective and level of knowledge (p-value 0.000), and history of exposure to information and level of knowledge (p-value 0.000). Increased marriage age, greater education level, and provision of relevant information will assist married couples in supporting increased knowledge that is more adequate for pregnancy preparation.

Abstract

AbstractThe availability of quality, safe, inexpensive, realistic and accurate learning models in assessing uterine fundal height is an urgency that must be immediately fulfilled by every midwifery education institution. This study aims to create and develop a SMART abdominal model in assessing uterine fundal height in postpartum women. The availability of quality, safe, inexpensive, realistic and accurate learning models in assessing uterine fundal height is an urgency that must be immediately fulfilled by every midwifery education institution. This study aims to create and develop a SMART abdominal model in assessing uterine fundal height in postpartum women. This research started with preliminary research through literature study, then continued with planning, designing an abdominal model, making a product in the form of a SMART abdominal model and then testing and validating the model. To determine the precision and reliability of the prototype, phase I and II observations were carried out. The results of the study seen in Observation I showed that the decrease in uterine fundal height and uterine contractions decreased gradually, while in the second observation it was known that the average value of the pump frequency was the same as the average value of 17 pumps so that it can be seen that the SMART abdominal model prototype have good precision.
