Abstract

The promotion of new student admission  of the Buddhist College is done in various ways, one of which is using brochures. Although this method has already been abandoned, for the Buddhist College, brochure still become the most favorite one. This study aims to find out persuasive techniques contained in the year of 2018-2019 academic brochure. The research method used was qualitative content analysis with the unit of analysis being ten academic brochures Buddhist College in Indonesia. Data collection techniques use documentation, while data analysis is done by matching methods with referential matching techniques and pragmatic techniques. The results of this study indicate that there are five persuasion techniques used in the academic brochure, namely rationalization, identification, suggestion, conformity, and compensation, while replacement techniques are not found in the brochure. Therefore, brochures should be designed creatively and attractively and have high persuasive values to attract more attention.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the information literacy of Buddhist Education teachers in Pati Regency covering aspects of information needs, access to information, and utilization of information in teaching. This study uses a qualitative method. The data collection technique of this study uses interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis using the Milles and Hubberman model includes the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study include: (1)The information needs of Buddhist Education teachers can be classified into information needs to improve teacher competence and information needs for career advancement; (2) access to information sourced from various locations, the teachers have also been able to analyze, organize, and save information well; (3) the teacher utilizes the information literacy results in teaching and learning activities in the school despite experiencing obstacles such as the lack of infrastructure to support learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesantunan berbahasa mahasiswa pada dosen melalui Whatsapp. Metodologi penelitian yang dipakai adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan fokus penelitian yaitu gaya bahasa dan pematuhan prinsip kesantunan berbahasa WhatsApp. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi dan teknik analisis datanya menggunakan metode normatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gaya bahasa komunikasi mahasiswa terhadap dosen berbasis jejaring sosial WhatsApp cenderung mengabaikan kaidah tata bahasa yang benar. Dari aspek gramatikal ditemukan gejala elipsis dan kata depan unik. Pada aspek leksikal ditemukan gaya language mixing dan bahasa gaul. Pada aspek grafologi ditemukan clipping, sound addition, dan coinage. Sementara itu, dalam wacana komunikasi berbasis jejaring sosial WhatsApp mahasiswa mampu mematuhi prinsip kesantunan berbahasa meliputi prinsip kebijaksanaan, kedermawanan, penghargaan, kesederhanaan, kecocokan, dan kesimpatian. Meskipun demikian, juga ditemukan pelanggaran-pelanggaran terhadap prinsip kesantunan berbahasa komunikasi berbasis jejaring sosial WhatsApp.

Abstract

The aim of community service is to provide blogging skills that can be utilized by Punna Karya Tangerang elementary school teachers in learning. The service delivery method is a workshop held from November to December 2019. Evaluation of activities is carried out using non-test techniques using questionnaires and documentation. The questionnaire was used to compare teachers' understanding of creating learning blogs between before and after the training was carried out. While the documentation serves to see qualitatively a learning blog created by the teacher. The results of this community service are: (1) classically the competence of teachers in creating learning blogs increased by 85,80%; (2) qualitatively the learning blog produced by the teacher is good, but there are still shortcomings in terms of interface design, navigation, and its contents. Based on these results teachers should be able to improve their skills independently in designing blog-based learning media through online and print references.
