Abstract

Pest and disease control for the upland rice cultivation needs to be done ecologically with the proper dose of fertilizer. Coconut shell as natural waste can be converted into wood vinegar which is useful for a biopesticide. The application of coconut shell wood vinegar as biopesticide combined with different NPK fertilizer doses needs to be examined in controlling pests and diseases in the upland rice crop. The objective of this study was to know the effect of NPK fertilizer rate and coconut shell wood vinegar application on pests (locusts and leaf folder), and on pathogen infection (Cercospora) on upland rice. The experiment was conducted in Klampok Sub-district, Banjarnegara Regency from April to July 2017. A split plot design was used replicated three times. The main plot was NPK fertilizers viz. 50% and 100% recommendation dosage, and the sub plots were concentration of coconut shell wood vinegar viz. 0% 1%; 1.25%; 1.67%; 2.5% and 5%. The intensity of pest attack, namely locusts and leaf folder, and pathogen infection of Cercospora brown spot disease were observed. Results showed that application of coconut shell wood vinegar suppressed the intensity of locust and leaf folder pests, and lower the intensity of Cercospora pathogen infection. To reduce the intensity of pests and pathogenic infections in upland rice, the application of coconut shell wood vinegar is suggested along with the use of low dose of NPK, for more effective and efficient pest control in environmentally friendly manner.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine phosphate fertilizer and mycorrhiza dosages as well as the interaction of both treatments to the physiological character and the yield of ciplukan plants. The experiment was carried out from February to July 2020 on an experimental farm. The study used a Randomized Completely Block Design, consisted of two factors. The first factor was the dose of SP-36 fertilizer, containing 36% phosphate (P2O5), and the levels were P0 = 0% dose (0 kg/ha), P1 = 25% dose (75 kg/ha), P2 = 50% dose (150 kg/ha), and P3 = 100% dose (300 kg/ha). The second factor was the mycorrhizal dose, namely M0 = 0 g, M1 = 3 g, M2 = 6 g, and M3 = 9 g (containing 10 spores per 3 g). Each treatment combination was in triplicates. The measurement and observation data were analyzed using the analysis of variance (F-test), followed by Duncan's multiple range test with P-value = 0.05 and regression. The results showed that application of 75 kg/ha dose was equivalent to the application of 300 kg/ha. P uptakes at 75 kg/ha and 300 kg/ha dose of fertilizer were 22,03 ppm and 23,18 ppm, respectively. The plant growth rate was 12,39 g/cm2/week on the application of 75 kg/ha fertilizer and resulted in 14,24 g/cm2/week on 300 kg/ha dose. The mycorrhiza application was significantly different from the root infection at a dose of 6 g, namely 49.177%. There was an interaction between the dose of SP-36 fertilizer and the mycorrhiza on leaf chlorophyll content at a dose of 0% and 3 g mycorrhiza. Abstract

The Ngudi Tani farmer group is one of the farmer groups in Bobosan Village, North Purwokerto District, Banyumas Regency. The rice fields in the Bobosan village area have irrigation system and the water is always available throughout the year, however rice farming has not been applied environmentally friendly agricultural system yet. Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) of urine rabbit with quince bengal fruit could apply as substitution of fertilizer and pesticide synthetics.The purpose of this service activity was to increase understanding and knowledge about organic farming systems with the application of LOF in lowland rice and how to make rabbit urine LOF. Methods of activities were carried out through counseling and training related to LOF application in rice fields and makes use of rabbit urine LOF. The rice field plot was focused on the appropriate way of working and techniques in supporting rice production through the application of rabbit urine LOF. Counseling, training, demonstration plots and rabbit livestock introduction is successful even though not to all members of the farmer groups. The knowledge and skills of farmers have increased regarding rabbit livestock and processing of urine into liquid organic fertilizer and its application to lowland rice. The introduction of rabbit urine LOF in lowland rice cultivation has been responded positively by some members of farmer groups and farmers have understood the procedure for processing rabbit urine waste into liquid organic fertilizer and its application in rice plants.

Abstract

The rice area in Banyumas Regency needs attention in an effort to support food security and avoid land conversion. The objective of this study was to update the information through mapping rice land area at Banyumas Regency based on the type of irrigation, altitude and soil type. The research method was carried out using geographic information system (GIS) -based software, then analyzed by using the overlay method and direct checking / surveying in the field. The process of analyzing spatial data of paddy fields in Banyumas Regency is mostly done by using a Geographic Information System (GIS) software tool, namely ArcView 3.2. Mapping was carried out on three variables, namely irrigation type, altitude and soil type. The results showed that the irrigated rice field type is more dominant than the rainfed type, the altitude is lowland with an altitude of 25-250 m above sea level and the dominant soil types are andosols and latosols with an area of> 12,000 ha.

Abstract

Abstract. Raising Muscovy duck commonly has not become a profitable business because of the high price of feed. Azolla is an alternative feed source that can be used as a substitute for commercial feed to save production costs. This activity aims to improve farming efficiency in the Sekar Tani farmer group in the village of Mandirancan through the use of Azolla as a substitute feed. The activity was started by building an Azolla pond demonstration plot and a duck coop. Counseling and training aimed at improving the skills of farmers in muscovy duck farming and the use of Azolla as the feed. Counseling and training after the demonstration plot runs can increase the effectiveness of technology transfer and the enthusiasm of farmers to support. The use of Azolla as a substitute feed can reduce feed costs and save time, therefore, farmers income could increase by 10%. In addition to being given training, farmers are given assistance with start-up packages consisting of Azolla seeds, plastic ponds, cage repairs, ducks, and commercial feed. To stabilize the production system in farmers groups, an automatic hatching machine with a capacity of 150 was given.               Abstrak. Budidaya entok bagi masyarakat belum menjadi bisnis yang menguntungkan karena terkendala harga pakan yang mahal. Azolla merupakan salah satu sumber pakan alternatif yang dapat dijadikan substitusi pakan komersil sehingga menghemat biaya produksi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi budidaya entok pada kelompok ternak Sekar Tani desa Mandirancan melalui pemanfaatan azolla sebagai pakan substitusi. Kegiatan diawali dengan membuat demplot kolam azolla dan kandang panggung untuk pembesaran entok. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan ditujukan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan peternak dalam budidaya entok dan pemanfaatan azolla sebagai pakan. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan setelah demplot berjalan dapat meningkatkan efektifitas transfer teknologi dan antusiasme peternak untuk mengadopsi. Penggunaan azolla sebagai pakan substitusi mampu mengurangi biaya pakan dan menghemat waktu peternak sehingga keuntungan meningkat rata-rata 10%. Selain penyuluhan dan pelatihan, peternak diberikan bantuan paket permulaan berupa benih azolla, kolam terpal, perbaikan kandang, ternak entok, dan pakan komersil. Untuk memantapkan sistem produksi dalam kelompok, berikan bantuan mesin tetas otomatis berkapasitas 150 untuk menyediakan DOD bagi anggota kelompok sehingga produksi entok dapat berkelanjutan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang telah dilakukan mampu menciptakan peluang usaha baru berupa produk olahan daging entok dan penetasan.

Abstract

Abstract. Community service activities in the form of application of cultivation techniques and post-harvest processing of vegetable crop into healty and nutritious food products with the target of elemetary school students were proven to be able to increase: student’s interest, knowledge, and skills towards vegetable farming activities; consumption frequency of vegetable-based food; knowledge of various types of vegetables dan their benefits. The activitis need to be transmitted to the parents to solve problems: the habit of parents preparing instant foods that are minimal vegetable content for their children’s breakfast; the lack of parental knowledge in processing vegetabales to a variety of foods that are preferred by the children; limited knowledge about vegetables benefit for children growth and development; and house environment have not been used optimally for vegetable cutivation. The purpose of this activity were: training on vegetable cultivation techniques using two different hydroponic system (NFT and wick system); post-harvest knowledge transfer of vegetable into preferred foods for the children; knowledge transfer about the importance of vegetables for childern growth and development. The method implemented in this activity were making demonstration and plot (demplot) of NFT dan wick system; vegetable cultivation activities through direct practice; post-harvest knowledge transfer of vegetable into preferred foods for the children; transfer of knowledge about healthy food with balanced nutrition to support the growth and development of school-age children. As a result, all activities are going well with high target audience participation. Hydroponic demonstration plots are prepared to produce crops of kale, spinach, pakcoy up to four times. Through this activity, parents' knowledge and skills have increased in: cultivation of vegetable plants using hydroponic techniques; postharvest processing of vegetable products into foods that children like;  knowledge of the importance of the benefits of vegetables for children.     Abstrak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa aplikasi budidaya dan pameran produk makanan berbasis sayuran dengan khalayak sasaran siswa sekolah dasar terbukti mampu meningkatkan ketertarikan, pengetahuan, dan keterampilan siswa terhadap kegiatan bertanam sayuran; frekuensi konsumsi makanan berbahan sayuran; pengetahuan ragam jenis sayur dan manfaatnya. Kegiatan perlu diterapkan lebih luas kepada orang tua siswa untuk mengatasi permasalahan kebiasaan orang tua menyiapkan makanan instan yang minim sayur untuk anaknya; minimnya pengetahuan orang tua dalam melakukan kegiatan pengolahan tanaman sayuran menjadi aneka makanan yang disukai anak-anak; terbatasnya pengetahuan pentingnya manfaat sayuran bagi anak usia sekolah, dan; belum termanfaatkannya lingkungan rumah untuk kegiatan bertanam sayuran. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada orang tua siswa SDN Karangsalam melalui pelatihan teknik budidaya tanaman sayuran menggunakan teknik hidroponik NFT dan Wick system untuk pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan rumah; transfer pengetahuan pascapanen produk tanaman hasil panen menjadi produk makanan yang disukai anak-anak, dan; transfer pengetahuan pentingnya manfaat sayuran bagi pertumbahan dan perkembangan anak usia sekolah. Metode yang dilaksanakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode partisipatif. Khalayak sasaran diajak berperan aktif dalam kegiatan pembuatan perangkat hidroponik tanaman sayuran; demplot hidroponik; kegiatan budidaya tanaman sayuran dengan praktik langsung; transfer pengetahuan pascapanen produk tanaman hasil panen menjadi produk makanan yang disukai anak-anak; transfer pengetahuan pentingnya manfaat sayuran bagi anak usia sekolah. Hasilnya, pengetahuan dan keterampilan orang tua meningkat dalam hal: budidaya tanaman sayuran menggunakan teknik hidroponik; pengolahan pascapanen produk sayuran menjadi makanan yang disukai anak-anak; dan pentingnya manfaat sayuran bagi anak-anak.

Abstract

Rendahnya efisiensi penggunaan pupuk kimia menjadi hambatan dalam produksi pertanian yang berkelanjutan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan pupuk kimia melalui penggunaan pupuk organik cair dari urin kelinci pada budidaya labu madu. Percobaan dilakukan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok lengkap dengan menguji faktor POC urin kelinci dan beberapa taraf pupuk N, P dan K. Faktor POC terdiri dari perlakuan tanpa POC dan perlakuan POC urin kelinci 350liter/ha. Pengurangan dosis pupuk N, P dan K dilakukan dengan mecobakan dosis 100% N, P, K rekomendasi (220 kg/ha Urea; 80 kg/ha SP-46, dan 130 kg/ha KCl), 50% dosis dan 25%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada pengaruh nyata penggunaan urin kelinci maupun penurunan dosis pupuk N, P, K terhadap parameter pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman labu madu kecuali pada kadar klorofil. Kadar klorofil terbaik didapatkan pada pemupukan dosis 50% N, P, K.

Abstract

Islamic boarding school students are one of the human resources that have a strategic role in national development. In addition to studying religion, students are also expected to have adequate skills and knowledge in environmentally friendly agriculture. Many Islamic boarding schools carry out productive businesses in the agricultural sector as a source of income and learning facilities for students, one of which is the. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of students of Anwarush Sholihin Islamic Boarding School, Purwokerto Selatan, in applying the concept of agroecology in farming and environmental management. The activities included outreach, counseling, procurement of agricultural facilities, initiation of maggot cultivation, banana planting, fertilizer-making training, beekeeping training, and program evaluation. The results showed an increase of students' understanding and skills in implementing agroecology-based agriculture. In addition, the optimization of unused land around the Islamic boarding school has been converted to a banana plantation integrated with goat, magot, and beekeeping farms.

Abstract

The organic agriculture system is a sustainable farming practice that has a promising solution for the sake of both food and the environment. Nevertheless, the adoption of organic systems in rice cultivation has been slowly developing due to some constraints for the lower yield than that of conventional systems. Rice production in the Pemalang region has mainly been cultivated in the district of Petarukan where some farmer grows in an organic system. This study was conducted to compare soil chemical properties i.e. pH, C-organic, N, P, and K in organic, conventional, and conversion systems of rice cultivation. In addition to the survey for collecting soil samples, the history of land management was investigated through farmer interviews. Soil samples were collected from each management type in 5 different locations using the composite sampling technique. The observed soil chemical parameters were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey-test for further comparison. The result shows that the C-organic, pH, and N-total of three different cultivation systems were not different. On the other side, there was a difference among cultivation systems in P and K of the soil. This result indicates that there is a gap to fill to improve organic rice yield through enhancing soil organic matter.
