Abstract

Abstrak Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan empat pilar dalam karakter pendidikan di abad kedua puluh satu. Era abad dua puluh satu adalah masa dimana manusia di seluruh dunia bergantung pada kecanggihan teknologi dalam segala aspek seperti pendidikan. Dalam sistem pendidikan Indonesia terdapat beberapa karakter yang harus diimplementasikan kepada peserta didik untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan yang dikenal dengan Four Pillars in Education Character. Untuk mendeskripsikan pilar karakter pendidikan, tinjauan teoritis digunakan dalam artikel ini. Berdasarkan tinjauan, pendidikan karakter pada abad dua puluh satu ini terdapat empat pilar pendidikan yaitu learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, dan learning to live together. Pilar-pilar inilah yang menjadi karakter dalam pendidikan untuk menciptakan sumber daya manusia yang baik dalam berperilaku sebagai output dan proses dari pendidikan. Artinya, untuk memiliki kualitas manusia-manusia yang baik, terlebih lagi bagi penduduk Indonesia, karakter yang lebih baik harus diterapkan dalam masa pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, keempat pilar tersebut memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam pendidikan. Kata kunci: Pendidikan karakter, pilar kareakter pendidikan, pendidikan Indonesia Abstract The article aims to describe the four pillars in education characters in the twenty-first century. The twenty-first century era is a time where human throughout the world are depending on technology-sophisticated in every aspect as education.  In Indonesian educational system, there are some characters which should be implemented to the students in order to achieve the goals of education which known as Four Pillars in Education Character. To describe the pillars of education characters, theoretical reviews are used in this article. Based on the review, education characters in twenty first century, there are four pillars of education, namely learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together.  These pillars are becoming characters in education to create good human resources in behaving as the output and process of education. Meaning that, to have good quality for human, moreover for Indonesians, better characters are must in education period. Therefore, these four pillars play very important roles in education. Keywords: education character, education character pillars, Indonesian’s education.

Abstract

This study investigated the correlation among personality types, learning styles and writing ability to the eleventh grade students at Senior High School Number 1 Sekayu. The aims of this study were to measure the correlation between personality types and writing ability, the correlation between learning styles and writing ability, the correlation between personality types and learning styles, and the correlation among personality types, learning styles, and writing ability. In this study, the writer used purposive technique sampling. The data were collected by using questionnaire and test. The data were analyzed by using r-product moment and multiple regressions. The findings of this study are: 1. There was not any significant correlation between personality types and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at Senior High at Senior High School 1 Sekayu. 2. There was not any significant correlation between learning styles and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at Senior High School 1 Sekayu. 3. There was significant correlation between learning styles and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at at Senior High School 1 Sekayu. 4. There were not any significant correlations among personality types, learning styles, and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at Senior High School Number 1 Sekayu. It could be concluded that personality types and learning styles were not correlated significantly with students’ writing ability.
