Abstract

Currently the function of a room is not only used as a shelter, the function of the room itself to be increased as a refreshing or relaxation area for users to follow the development of creativity and technology in the field of design. The comfortable factor becomes the main factor that indicates a successful process of creating a space. No exception library. The nature of library seemed stiff because of its function as a place to read, now can be developed and made into more dynamic with the special design concepts or color patterns used. Libraries can be created a special concept that suits the characteristics of the users themselves. Most users of the library, especially in college libraries are teenagers. Naturally, teenagers like to gather with their friends and we have to facilitate this activity in our library design concept. In addition we can also determine the needs of users through research by questionnaire method. The answers of users can be mapped and drawn conclusions. To explore the research, the author reviewed some literature about library interior design and observed the library of Ma Chung University as a case study. The combined results of the method can be concluded and the discovery of ideal standards of physical environment. So, the library can be made as a comfortable reading environment so as to increased interest in reading behavior and the frequent visits of students in the library.

Abstract

A child needs to be prepared for well-qualified human resources in the future. Regarding this, there are three basic needs for children to grow optimally: physical, emotional and educational needs. Puskesmas Lawang conducts an event of stimulation and early detection of children’s growth as an effort to fulfill children’s physical needs. However, the condition of facilities as well as building of Puskesmas often makes scared which finally obstructs the examination process. The research method used to solve this problem consists of three stages. The first stage is primary and secondary data collection. Those two kinds of data were compared and analyzed by using data tabulation method to get basic concept for detection room design. This concept was then used as the standard in designing the interior of the room for early detection of children’s growth. Based on the analysis of the activities, detection room is classified into 4 rooms: detection room for age 0-3-6-9-12 months, detection room for age 15-18-21-24 months, detection room for age 30-36-42-48 months, and detection room for age 54-60-66-72 months. In order to create friendly atmosphere in the examination room, the interior for each room is based on simulation activities according to Book of Detection Instrument as well as psychological characters of children within those particular ages.

Abstract

A space affects humans not physically but also psychologically. Therefore, we are often familiar with the term "comfortable" when dealing with peaceful feeling of being inside a space. Saunders (2015) states that out of 19 reasons why people visit a library, physical space has become the second reason after the library’s collection. This indicates that the number of visits as well as the length of time for the visit are also influenced by the condition of the library interior. Comfort in the library space is still the main thing that determines the users’ interest when visiting the library. This study aims to evaluate the effects of the elements that make up a library’s interior design on the comfort perceived by students as users. Interior design elements as indicators of visual comfort to be studied are the visual variables, flexibility, socialization comfort, thermal and acoustic. The importance of understanding users’ psychological condition because of physical environment of the library can make a university’s library become a pleasant and comfortable space for the academic community to support teaching and learning process.

Abstract

College library has a role as the heart of the university. Library is the heart of the educational process. Ideally, a good college should be the one that has a good library to meet the needs of users. There are four psychological aspects that optimize arrangement of the room and support the library function as provider of services, namely: functional aspect, psychological aspect of the visitors, the aesthetic aspect and safety aspect of library materials. Descriptive and comparative methods were used in data collection. The comparative method was applied to make comparison between field and typology data, with the help of review of the literature as well. In this design, the typology stage was done by comparing Library National Technical Library, Cotbuss Library University, and Bond University Kearney Library. Comparing international design was done by considerating the vision and mission to be international university, the lack of vocational education program in university level, and the four aspects which refers to the user of the library that will ease the designer to think of a better solution to get best result for the design

Abstract

AbstractMalangan Batik is a term for batik artwork with a typical Malang motif with natural motifs inspired by the natural environment around Malang. For example, some of the largest agricultural commodities in southern Malang, such as coffee and cloves, can inspire people to make batik motifs. Malangan Batik requires innovation in developing its motives quickly and precisely. One technique that can be used to modify motifs quickly is the shape grammar method using CAD (computer aided design) software. The shape grammar method is a form composition method that is formulated digitally with the help of computer software so that the resulting motif can appear more precise and different. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative through an experimental approach. Descriptive qualitative methods are used to process the initial data until researchers find several samples of predominant motifs of the basic form of Batik Malangan, then after that the researchers use the shape grammar method for testing to find several alternatives to the Malangan Batik motif. The results of the study showed the composition of motifs using the shape grammar technique and could produce various alternative designs of the Kopi Cengkeh motif by giving a characteristic of Malang's natural wealth. Keywords: batik, shape grammar, motif.

Abstract

The pleasing atmosphere of medical environment is a friendly atmosphere so it can accelerate the adaptation process of patients. However, the medical environment is very often identical with fear, anxiety, and uncertainty that can suppress the immune system so that patients require longer treatment time and even hasten the complications during treatment occur. This study is conducted to analyze how to optimize the application of healing environment interior elements (such: circulation, lighting, color, interior supporting elements: natural elements, the position of social interaction and television) inside the treatment room directly affect the patients psychologically. The research is at Kanjuruhan public hospital which has simple and candid interior physical condition. The results demonstrates that the elements of nature and natural lighting are potential to reduce patient stress, given the daily conditions of people who tend to be close to nature. The differences in economic background, culture, and community demographics would produce a different perception in looking at the most ideal and suitable healing elements for their treatment environment.
