This research was a research and development. This learning media was developed by using four-D models. From the research result conducted, it was known that the microteaching textbook with Islamic nuance in improving the character education for the prospective teacher students is at an extremely valid category. Based on limited try out, it is known that the implementation is at an extremely excellent category. The lecturer and students’ responses after using the microteaching textbook with Islamic Nuance shows positive results with the average response is practical. The result of observation on students’ activity is at extremely active category and very valid, practical, effective to be used in college

Abstract

Kerinci is a tribe in Kerinci Regency in Jambi Province, Indonesia. The Kerinci tribe has various customs that are passed on from generation to generation. The Kerinci area has very interesting natural resources and unique cultural traditions that attract foreign tourists. However, in the current technological era, many millennials and generation Z do not know the customs of the Kerinci tribe because there is no appropriate platform to teach them. This can be seen from the low scientific literacy abilities of current students so that their ability to solve problems is difficult, especially in lectures. In fact, prospective teacher students must be able to dig deeper into their existing competency abilities. Lecturers as teaching staff must of course be able to develop their skills in how to make lessons interesting so that prospective teacher students love and understand the cultural traditions around them which are also related to the lecture material. One of the traditions of the Kerinci community is reflected in the art of dance called the rangguk dance. The rangguk dance is usually performed during large traditional events such as the Sko kenduri event. The ranggung dance has a basic movement, namely nodding and a main movement that depicts the activity of farming in the rice fields in a cooperative manner. The stages of this research are still in the initial stages, namely preliminary and planning, such as literature studies, interviews and discussions with several experts about the need for detailed ethnobiological exploration to increase students' scientific literacy. Furthermore, observations were also made of the scientific literacy activities of lecturers and students in general biology courses. In order to support the research data, a questionnaire was distributed to students to find out their responses about ethnobiology in Kerinci. From data analysis, it was found that learning that includes ethnobiology in the learning process is highly recommended by several experts as an alternative model and also an interesting learning resource for increasing students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

Science literacy is an important ability that must be possessed by students in the 21st century. However, several studies show that the science literacy of students in Indonesia still needs to be improved. One approach that is considered effective is through the integration of Project Based Learning (PjBL) and ethnobiology models. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the integration of PjBL and ethnobiology models in improving students' science literacy. The research method used was a pseudo-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two classes of students, one class as an experimental group that applied the integration of PjBL and ethnobiology, and one class as a control group that applied conventional learning. The results showed that the experimental group that applied the integration of PjBL and ethnobiology had a higher increase in science literacy compared to the control group. Further analysis revealed that the integration of PjBL and ethnobiology had a significant effect on improving students' science literacy, both in the aspects of knowledge, thinking skills, and scientific attitudes. The findings of this study imply that the integration of PjBL and ethnobiology can be an effective learning strategy to improve students' science literacy. The implication of the results of this study is the need for the implementation of innovative learning approaches that connect science with local wisdom and contextual problems in order to improve the quality of science education in higher education.
