Abstract

Background: Dental laboratory in Surabaya frequently make various kinds of the denture. But surely there is a case that was the most commonly accepted, to adjust to the needs of dental laboratories on the priorities of the work was done, it was necessary to give attention to the case that many common and must be taught to students Dental Technology. Purpose: To find an overview of the number the dentures received by the dental laboratory in Surabaya from 2013 until 2017. Methods: The data used is secondary data from a dental laboratory in Surabaya from 2013 to 2017. Result: A request for flexible and RPDs porcelain, acrylic resin and metal in 5 years obtained tend to be stable in high demand, even ina given year a sharp increase in RPDs flexible and drastic decline on fixed porcelain denture. Instead of facing acrylics, fixed denture tends to stabilize at its lowest during the period. While the acrylic RPDs has increased significantly in the last two years, in contrast to metal frame dentures, which decreased at two years latest. Conclusion: Flexible denture significantly better than with acrylic resin conventional denture on parameters taken in this research. Fixed porcelain denture are mostly made by a dental laboratory when compared with a removable partial denture acrylic resin.

Abstract

Background: In acrylic removable dentures, brokenness often occurs in the midline region of the maxilla. Resistance to fracture depends on the physical properties of the material namely the transverse strength. This can be prevented by the addition of glass fibers. Tea is consumed by many people, acrylic resin dipped in steeping tea will reduce the strength of acrylic resin. How the physical properties of acrylic resin are modified by the addition of glass fiber effect when immersed in a tea solution. Purpose: This study was to determine the strength of transverse acrylic resin with the addition of glass fibers soaked in tea. Method: Rectangular acrylic resin with a size of 10 x 65 x 2.5 mm. The number of samples is 24. divided into 4 groups. namely 2 groups without glass fiber and 2 groups with glass fiber. The sample is measured by transverse strength using an autograph (Shimadzu) tool, then data is analyzed using ANOVA. Result: Acrylic resin without glass fiber immersed in tea solution decreases its transverse strength. while the acrylic resin was given glass fiber the strength value of the transversion does not differ significantly either soaked or not. Conclusion: Acrylic resin which is given glass fiber and soaked in tea does not reduce the strength of the transversion. This is due to the glass fiber filling the cavity in the acrylic resin.

Abstract

Background: Certain cases such as anterior cross bites require a different aesthetic removable denture technique from the conventional removable denture. Purpose: To provide an overview of a case about the technique of making aesthetic acrylic resin removable partial dentures for anterior tooth replacement in cases of anterior cross bite. Case analysis: The study examined the working model with maxillary and mandibular anterior cross bite cases. Result: The arrangement of artificial teeth was carried out as ideally as possible, so that it became harmonious. In this case, the incisal artificial teeth 11, 12, 21 were brought forward labially, so that an edge-to-edge position was formed with the opposing teeth. The clasp made was a half jackson which was placed on teeth 15 and 25, so that when the patient smiles the clasp is not visible to fulfill the aesthetic requirements. Conclusion: The technique of making aesthetic removable partial dentures in cases of anterior cross bite that has received more attention is the arrangement of the dental elements because it is different from the normal tooth arrangement. The artificial teeth were arranged in edge-to-edge bite position in order to obtain a harmonious occlusion while taking into account of the labial arch of the adjacent tooth as well as occlusion with the opposing tooth.

Abstract

Background: Anterior crossbite is a case that when upper anterior are positioned palatally than lower anterior teeth in centric occlusion. Orthodontic appliances using expansion screw could be solution for tooth anterior crossbite treatment. Purpose: To figure out the optimal fabrication process of orthodontic appliances in single tooth anterior crossbite case using expansion screw. Case analysis: Dental laboratory provided the maxillary dental appliance with single tooth anterior crossbite on teeth 21. Dental technician also received orthodontic appliance using expansion screw. Result: Orthodontic appliance design was Adams claps on teeth 16, 26, labial bow on teeth 13, 12, 11, 21, 22, 23. Additional posterior bite plane, also expansion screw was located on maxillary left first incisor, palatal section. Conclusion: Design and making orthodontic appliances using expansion screw begins with drawing design, positioning Adams clasps and labia bow sectional screw mini mounting, then acrylic packing. Final step was finishing polishing acrylic plate.
