Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of bio slurry and cutting of seed tubers on the growth and yield of shallot plants in the Dukuh Kepoh Food and Horticultural Garden, Tohudan Village, Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency with a height of ± 105 m above sea level, from April until June 2020. This study used a factorial method with a complete randomized block design (RAKL), consisting of two treatment factors, while the two treatment factors with 12 treatment combinations, each treatment was repeated (3) times. The first treatment, the concentration of bio slurry (S) which consists of 4 levels, namely (S1: Bio slurry 0 ml / l, S2: Bio slurry 50 ml / l, S3: Bio slurry 100 ml / l, S4: Bio slurry 150 ml / l). The second treatment was cutting the seed tubers (P), which consisted of three levels (P1: Cutting 1/4 part of seed tubers, P2: Cutting 1/3 parts of seed tubers, P3: Cutting 1/2 parts of seed tubers). The results showed that the treatment with bio slurry (S) had no significant effect on all observed parameters. Treatment by cutting seed tubers (P) had a very significant effect on plant height, weight of fresh tubers per plant, weight of fresh tubers per plot and had a significant effect on the number of fresh tubers per plant, but had no significant effect on the number of tubers per plot and weight of fresh stems. The combination between the treatment of bio slurry and cutting of seed tubers (SxP) did not significantly affect all observed parameters, The highest yield of fresh tubers per plot was obtained in treatment (S2P2) with a yield of 800.00 g, while the lowest tuber weight per plot was obtained in treatment ( S1P3) with a yield of 433.33 g. Keywords: shallot, bio-slurry, seed tuber cutting

Abstract

ABSTRACK Increasing the consumption of animal protein for the community during the Covid-19 pandemic is very important. A very easy and cheap source of protein for the community is chicken. The problem in raising chickens is the problem of feed, especially if the chicken feed has to be purchased at a production facility shop. On the other hand, organic waste or organic waste in households is very abundant and even becomes environmental problems such as: odor, dirty and also disturbs beauty. An alternative solution to the problem of organic waste is through maggot cultivation as an animal that is able to convert organic waste into organic fertilizer, both solid and liquid. In addition, maggot itself has a high protein content of (40-50)%. This community empowerment method is carried out by providing assistance and training to the community with regular communication and periodic supervision. For people who are good and able to cultivate yam maggot funds in Kadipiro and Nusukan, Banjarsari districts, Surakarta municipality from September to December 2020. The results of this community service resulted that maggot was able to substitute for factory chicken feed by 50%, resulting in a savings rate of 50% of the total production costs in raising chickens. So that maggot can be recommended as natural chicken feed that is environmentally friendly and improves chicken health. Keywords: maggot, organic waste, community empowerment

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of application of liquid bio-slurry organic fertilizer and kinds of organic mulch on the cultivation of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) Jeno F1 varieties.. This research was conducted from November to February 2020 in Kuncen Waru Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency. This study used an environmental design with a basic pattern Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of 2 treatment factors with 9 treatment combinations and repeated 3 times. The first treatment factor, giving mulch (M) consisting of 3 levels M1 = straw mulch M2 = reed mulch and M3 = bamboo leaf mulch, the second treatment factor, giving concentration of bio-slurry liquid (S) consisting of 3 levels S1 = 5 ml bio-slurry/ liter water, S2 = 10 m bio-slurry / liter water and S3 = 15 ml bio-slurry / liter water. The results of this study indicate that the treatment of organic mulch has a very significant effect on the weight of fruit per plant, the number of fruits per plant and the fresh weight per plant, and also has a significant effect on the dry weight per plant. Liquid bio-slurry fertilizer has a very significant effect on fruit weight per plant, number of fruits per plant and fresh weight per plant, and also has a significant effect on dry weight per plant. The best combination is M1S3 straw organic mulch treatment and bio-slurry 15 ml / liter of water. This gives the highest yield in the parameters of plant height 59.89 cm, fruit weight per plant 146.54 g, number of fruits per plant 6.56, fruit diameter 5.06 cm, fresh biomass weight per plant 62.20 g, and weight dry biomass per plant 39.06 g.
