Abstract

This research was Classroom Action Research, it means that in this research as the classroom lecturers and asked one collaborator worked together inplanning the action, implementing, observing, and reflecting the action. The results of the study concluded that, the implementation of the Mind Mapping Technique in the teaching of writing descriptive text could develop the ability and improve the motivation of the The 11th grade students of SMA LABS SCHOOL KAIZEN in 2019 in writing descriptive texts. Based on the finding of this study, the result of the students’ writing from the pre – cycle to cycle 1 increased 2.96%, from cycle 1 to cycle 2 increased 3.95%, and from cycle 2 to cycle 3 increased 5.26%. It means that from initial condition to the third cycle had shown significant results. The result of the students’ motivation from the pre – cycle pre – cycle to cycle 1 increased 9.42%. From cycle 1 to cycle 2 increased 5.68%, and from cycle 2 to cycle 3 increased 10.58%. It means that the implementation of the Mind Mapping Technique could improve the students’ motivation.

Abstract

Recount is one of topic taught for the 10th grade students of senior high school include at Senior High School 1 South Tangerang City. And it is certain that the same topic will be taught again at the next level namely at 11th and 12th either just to repeat or to examine the student English knowledge or skill. Thus the students should be capable of recount in order to pass this topic well to achieve passing grade score. However, there are half of the class couldn’t get passing grades in writing recount text. Hence the writer was interested to do mini research to get reality why a half of the class didn’t pass on test of writing recount. Then the writer did the research to 18 participants. The research is by assigning 18 participants to write their activities or experiences that they did during holiday when the 12th grade students were doing the final examination with clear instruction and theme. The result was that most of participants have done many mistakes in using verbs, one of the language features that is along with the recount text is. In writing recount there are still many participants which use present verbs to tell the past activities and experiences. There are two past forms to concern in writing recount, they are linking verbs and action verbs. Linking verbs comprises was, were, saw, heard, etc; while action verbs are like went, looked, ran, sat, visited, sang, etc. Therefore this case must be an important note for every English language teacher in teaching recount. This is very important in order to avoid the mistakes in tenses of the use of both linking verbs and action verbs for the students when they are tasked to a project in composing recount text.

Abstract

This research investigates Genre-based Approach in improving the students’ writing narrative text. The aims of this study were to to find out the effects of the Genre-based Approach in teaching writing narrative text. In collecting data, the writer used instrument; it is writing text (pre-test and post-test). The population of the research was the eighth grade students’ of Junior High School Karangtengah Garut. The writer used a proportional random sampling, so there were 34 students as the sample (25%) of the population: 15 males and 19 females. This research a used quantitative method and the pre-experimantal design. Two variables in this research: the independent variable research was using Genre-based Approach in teaching narrative text, and dependent variable was using narrative text in improving the writing skill. The result of the research showed that tobserved was 13.96 and tcritical was 2.0423. The criteria of test; Ho was accepted if - tcritical ≤ tobserved ≤ tcritical so that it was concluded that null hypothesis (HO) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted because the score was – 2.0423 ≤ 13.96 ≥ 2.0423; therefore, there was a significant effect of using Genre-based Approach in teaching writing narrative text and 76% of students writing narrative text using Genre-based Approach was improved

Abstract

As we enter the new millennium, business schools or economics faculties face a number of new challenges. The graduates of a business school are expected to be critical capable of 'learning to learn', technology-savy, and ethical. Mean while, the emergence of the internet as a new and powerful communication infrastructure has facilitated the rapid growth of the virtual business schools around globe. It leads to the global completion among processes, services, universies. As a consequence, Indonesian universies have to reform its products, processes, services, people, and environments. one of the 'best' approaches to do so is the adaptation of total quality management consep into higher education environment. This paper describes the profiles of future alumni of business schools, followed by a discussion on the emergence of virtual business schools as a new business education paradigm in the future. Finally, this paper tries to identify sereval factors critical to the successful implementation of total quality management in universities.

Abstract

The movement (leading) of action make appoint group members trying to achieve the goals in accordance with the business organization. “Leading is defined as motivating, directing and otherwise on influencing people to work hard to achieve the organization’s gools”. Institutions as well educational institusionas as oriented to the quality is focused on two customers that customers internal and external. The realize quality of institution or organization according Juran focused on tree activities are Planning, supervision and repairing known as trilogy Juran while Feiganbaum see activities organization quality can be seen fromthe improvement of management continuous improvement employees, leadership, and supervision in first-line, and supervison quality. This can be seen from the activities of leadership in guiding, communicate and decision making in accordance with the work will be made. In this case the most important is how leaders can inform duties and steps of work to do all member organizations to achieve the goal.
