Abstract

Pulau Tello merupakan daerah dengan masyarakat yang heterogen dan sering terjadi perpindahan pemeluk agama dari agama tertentu ke agama yang lain, Namun, ada permasalahan yang timbul yaitu ketika terjadi perpindahan agama juga terjadi perpindahan tradisi. Salah satunya contohnya adalah ketika acara pernikahan yang semula ia Kristen kemudian masuk Islam maka ia harus mengikuti seluruh prosesi tradisi Islam dalam menikah. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian etnografi dengan lokasi penelitian di Pulau Tello Kabupaten Nias Selatan. Data didapatkan dengan menggunakan metode wawancara, kemudian data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik transkip data, reduksi data, penyajian data, sampai pada penarikan kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi perubahan tradisi penikahan ketika pindah agama. Bentuk-bentuk perubahan tersebut ialah pelaksanaan rapat sebelum prosesi pernikahan; seserahan; pelaksanaan pernikahan; dan penyelenggaraan pesta. Penyebab perubahan tradisi pernikahan di Pulau Tello diakibatkan dari perpindahan agama yang mempengaruhi adat, kemudian ketika seseorang pindah agama maka tradisi dan adatnya juga berubah.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explain the types of hate speech on Facebook and Instagram related to the political contestation of Joko Widodo as President in 2014, presidential candidate in 2019, and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Governor of DKI Jakarta in 2017. This research uses a content analysis approach. The result of study found several types that can be categorized as hatespeech, namely in the form of satire/sarcasm, hoaxs, cursing, distortion, insults, and negative criticism. The orientation that used in political moments is related to religion with regard to religious ideology. The term religion is used as a ripertoir for mobilizing, and the issue of ethnic, religion, race and groups (SARA) is used as a means of emphasizing political opponents. This study concludes that the current trend of political contestation is intertwined with the increasing politics of identity, religion and hatespeech as a form of democracy without morals.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the tradition of tolak bala in Nagari Bungus, including the changes that have occurred, the factors influencing the persistence of the tradition, and the meanings understood by the community regarding the tradition. A qualitative approach was employed, and data were collected through interviews and participatory observation. The findings reveal changes in the tradition of tolak bala in Nagari Bungus, encompassing changes in the surrounding environment and social activities of the community. The tradition of tolak bala has had a positive impact on the community, such as improving their relationship with Allah Swt, enhancing economic conditions, and abandoning negative behaviors. Factors influencing the persistence of the tradition of tolak bala include the community's beliefs and knowledge, religious activities, and the roles of traditional and religious leaders. The community understands the tradition of tolak bala as a means of protection from dangers and as an effort to seek help from Allah Swt to avert calamities. This research provides deeper insights into the tradition of tolak bala in Nagari Bungus and has implications for social and cultural changes in the community. Recommendations are given to the Bungus community and local authorities to preserve and maintain the tradition of tolak bala as a valuable cultural heritage and to conduct further research on this tradition in other regions.
