Abstract

Based on the results of interviews of researchers with teachers of mathematicssubjects who teach class VIII SMP N 1 Padangpanjang obtained information thatstudent learning outcomes are still low. Factors that affect the low learning outcomes ofmathematics learners are learning is still centered on the teacher, the teacher teachesthe students with the lecture method, questions and answer and giving training,sometimes group discussion methods. Even though learning using group discussion isneeded if there are tasks or excercises that are considered difficult for individualstudents to do indivual.One way to solve this problem is to application of cooperativelearning model type Think Pair Square (TPSq) in mathematics learning.The purpose of this research is "To know the improvement of students'mathematics learning outcomes in the affective and psychomotor spheres after theimplementation of cooperative learning model type TPSq in the class VIII SMPN 1Padangpanjang academic year 2017/2018. This type of research is experimentalresearch, with the design of The Static Group Comparison: Randomized Control GroupOnly Design.The learning result of the affective and psychomotor spheres experienced anincrease in every meeting with very good category. The data analysis of the final testresult is done using t-test. Based on the results of hypothesis testing for student learningoutcomes in the cognitive domain, obtained and = 1,67then H_0 rejected. Based on this it can be concluded that the results of learningmathematics students who apply learning with the cooperative learning model typeTPSq is better than the result of learning mathematics students without applying thecooperative learning model type TPSq on students of class VIII SMPN 1Padangpanjang academic year 2017/2018.Keywords: Think Pair Square (TPSq), Learning Outcomes
