Abstract

A group  called  SARILA  in Kauman,  Dadapayu,   Semanu,  Gunung­ kidul,  had  a problem  of low production   quality  and  capacity  in their  busi­ ness  of making  patilo  and  fried  cassava  chips  because  the  work  of cutting and scraping  the basic  material  for their products,  cassava,  was done manu­ ally by using  simple  tools that caused  the cassava  to break  when  cut so that the  resulting   chips  were  also  in  broken  conditions   and  the  manual  work caused the workers  to quickly become  exhausted.  Therefore,  the main objec­ tive of one voucher  program  was to enable the workers  to do their work me­ chanically  instead  of manually.It had  to be able  to design  and  produce  an easily-operated   cassava processing  machine  with a frame strong  enough  to withstand  vibrations  and do two kinds  of work,  cutting  and scraping  cassava,  easily,  accurately,  and simultaneously.    An  ergonomic   table  also  had  to  be  developed   to  ensure long-lasting   use  of the machine  in the  cassava  processing.   The  machine  at last successfully  produced  is 90 em in length,  60 em in width,  and 90 em in height,  designed  high enough  to enable the operator  to do the work easily in a standing-up  position.  Stainless  steel  plate  material  is applied  on all parts having direct  contact  with the cassava  processing.  The frame of the machine is made of 5-cm rectangular  steel profiles  to ensure  its being  strong  enough to withstand  operation.  An electrical  motor  with  a power  of  Y2  HP and pul­ ley-and-belt  transmission   aids the operation.   Such  transmission   enables  the cutting  and scraping  parts to operate  simultaneously   at different  speeds. The position  of the cutting tool can be adjusted  for desired  thickness.  Except the frame, all parts of the machine  are designed  according  to a knock-down  sys­ tem for easy replacement  of broken parts.The  result  of a performance   test  on the  machine  has  shown  that  itcan  be  operated   easily  without  the  operator   becoming   quickly  exhausted. Compared  to what is produced  in the old ways, the product  looks better; it is smoother,  and there  is less cassava  fibers.  The   product  capacity  of the ma­ chine  is about  50 kg every  50 minutes  from  its cutting  process  and  50 kg every  75 minutes  from  its scraping  process.  During  operation,   there  is no vibration on its frame. It shows that the construction design is strong enough to withstand the vibration of the motor rotation and cassava processing.Keywords: cassava, multipurpose machine, cutting and scraping

Abstract

tProduction tools used by the craftsmen at Prambanan Yogyakartafiberglass is still very simple. There are 2 main tools used by the craftsmenwhich led directly influence both the quantity and quality of handicraftproducts. For mixing dough fiberglass, the craftsmen using improvised toolsand for finishing the painting, the craftsmen using hand brushes. From boththese tools, fiberglass dough mixer was chosen to be developed.The mixer uses elliptic vertical stirrer model with a larger radius atthe bottom. The purpose of this design is for rotating the flow of fluidinsideand sideway of the stirrer rotation and outside flow at the other area.The form of this mixer is a solution of the goal to produce a homogeneousmixture of fiberglass. Swivel stand is the stand of plastic bucket that will befilled with fiberglass dough. This bucket rotates automatically when themixing takes place. Thus an accelerated stirring and mixing a homogeneousmixture.Power uses¼ HPelectric motor with 1425 rpm. Motor speed is thenreduced by half through the pulley transmission. Mixer machineperformance is then compared between the old machines with new machinesassociated with the design of mixer and a different holder. Old mixer usinga single L shape stirrer rod, a new mixer using a mixer with a double ellipticshape intersect. Old mixer using the fix stand, while the new mixer using aswivel stand. Both productiveness of the mixer then compared in terms ofquantity and quality of mixing. Tests on the preparation of the second mixermachine does not show a significant difference, on average it takes 5minutes before stirring preparation done. Tests at the time of stirringshowed that the new mixer can mix faster than the old mixer. New mixerstirring just 5 minutes to produce a homogeneous mixture, while the oldmixer takes 10 minutes. Tests showed that the volume of new mixer capableof stirring the batter with a capacity of 4 times greater at around 20 liters,the results of this dough is much better visually and homogeneous. Theimplication of this finding is new mixer can improve the quantity andquality of fiberglass dough, and can be used as a substitute for the old mixerused byfiberglass industry targets.

Abstract

The problems of the furniture industry target are about the effectiveness  of the use of wood chisel and bit machine because it hasn't fix machine bench for wood laying and the machine position that not ergonomic.  These  problems make. setting.. time longer, wood position unstable because of unfix bench, the vice easy to broken because  of  instability  of  wood,  imprecision  of  hole  position,  and  the  exhausted operator because of the machine position.The  main  goal of this  voucher  program  is to modify wood  chisel  and  bit machine for preparing the connection between pin and its hole at U.O ..TANGGUH, small scale furniture industry, so that productivity and quality  of the furniture will be improved. For mass production, every step must be done perfectly and carefully  so that every part can be connected  and constructed  correctly.  Because of the reason. above  wood  and  chisel  machine  that  strong,  easy  to  operate.: easy  to  lay  wood accurately, and ergonomic must be developed.                                   ,Wood and chisel machine that be developed has 220 cm length and 30 ernwidth of its bench so that the wood with 200 em length or 'more can be supported accurately  especially  at its parallel position to the machine vice. For operating  the machine easily, the machine bench is made approximately  50 em height, so that the operator  with  sit down  position  can operate  the  machine  without  exhausted.  The wood 'chisel and bit machine can make the hole approximately 7 em depth and 1 ern width.,   The result of the machine performance  test show that the machine  can be. operated easily without exhausted. The hole is easily to be made on wood with 200ern length without setting wood position. The hole position is automatically perpendicular  to the horizontal line of the wood so that in accordance with the hole position  on  the  wood.  There  is  no  vibration  on  bench  and  the  machine.  This condition shows that the construction design is strong enough to the vibration of the motor revolution and the hole feeding.
