Abstract

Abstract

Pre-marital sex before marriage in adolescents is a severe problem associated with increased transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, having more than one partner, and early pregnancy. Even though Indonesia is considered a society with high religious values, free-sex behavior is considered increasingly concerning. This study investigates the relationship between religiosity and attitudes toward pre-marital sexual behavior with pre-marital sexual behavior in adolescents. Respondents of this study were 200 adolescents aged 10-19 years old, selected through a purposive sampling technique, with criteria: have religion, not married, and currently dating. Data were analyzed using a linear regression method. The results showed that pre-marital sexual attitude fully mediates the effect between religiosity and pre-marital sexual behavior. The present study findings contribute to pre-marital sexual research by explaining that religiosity does not decrease pre-marital sexual behavior if the person is permissive or has a supportive attitude towards it. With this outcome, it is expected that the relevant parties will focus more on changing adolescents’ thoughts, attitudes, and perspectives regarding pre-marital sexual behavior and not only rely on religious teachings as the only framework for preventing pre-marital sexual behavior

Abstract

This study aims to identify the relationship between power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and commitment to change, using the GLOBE’s and Hofstede concepts. There were 328 overall respondents, consisting of private manufacturing company employees and state-owned companies’ employees, with every 164 respondents. Research results are based on two studies for which data were collected using three scale inventories, namely Commitment to Change, Power Distance, and Uncertainty Avoidance. Descriptive and correlations techniques were used to analyse the data. Results showed that power distance and uncertainty avoidance were significantly negatively correlated with a commitment to change. In other words, people with moderate to high power distance and moderate to high uncertainty will tend to have a low commitment to change. This study’s implications can be used by management to prepare for organizational change, particularly to identify work-related values that exist in their organizations, to anticipate employees’ reactions to change. Keywords: Commitment to Change, Power Distance, Uncertainty Avoidance.

Abstract

Implementing the Independent Campus-Freedom to Learn (MBKM) programme has significantly changed the learning process. It is mandatory for universities to implement the programme. Nevertheless, the programme encountered significant challenges in its execution due to the outbreak of COVID-19, rendering the optimal conditions for its deployment unattainable. Following a period of nearly two years of implementation, it is imperative for tertiary institutions to undertake an evaluation of the program's accomplishments. The outcomes of this evaluation are anticipated to serve as a foundation for future enhancements. This paper aims to examine the perspectives of students, instructors, and education professionals regarding the execution of the MBKM programme. The survey was administered to participants from three distinct groups, who provided justifications for a series of questions or assertions. The survey data underwent analysis using descriptive analytic techniques. In conjunction with the survey, this study incorporates further analysis through the utilisation of focus group discussions (FGDs) encompassing three distinct groups of participants, including structural officials. The findings indicated that the internship programme within the company emerged as the primary preference among students enrolled in the MBKM programme. A significant proportion of students believe that the MBKM programme does not delay their academic progression; as a result, they express their intention to participate in the programme and even advocate for its adoption among their peers. The level of comprehension among students, instructors, and education personnel regarding the MBKM programme is moderate. The findings derived from the analysis of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) suggest that there is a requirement to enhance socialisation and improve the comprehensibility of course conversion.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of perceived discrimination to the psychological well-being of workers with LGBT sexual preferences in DKI Jakarta and whether self-esteem impacts this effect. Respondents in this study consisted of 90 people consisting of 9 people with lesbian sexuality, 29 homosexuals, 30 bisexuals, and 22 transgenders. The method used in this study is a quantitative method that examines the effect of two independent variables on one dependent variable. Based on the results of the regression analysis test, it is known that perceived discrimination has a negative effect on psychological well-being (t = -9,795; p <0,005), meanwhile self-esteem has a positive effect on psychological well-being (t = 10,902; p < 0,05). This result proves the assumption that perceived discrimination can decrease, while self-esteem can increase workers' psychological well-being with LGBT sexual preferences in DKI Jakarta. Meanwhile, the analysis process from Hayes (2017) using SPSS obtained equally significant results, both in the total calculation and the direct effect, indicating that self-esteem partially mediates the effect between perceived discrimination and psychological well-being.
