Abstract

Translation is a process of rewriting someone's ideas to dismiss without reducing understanding of the meaning and meaning to be conveyed. The scope of the translation is very broad, where translation is not only limited to translating a formal or informal text, but also at a level of aspects such as linguistics, literature and culture. The purpose of this paper is to link literary theory in the scope of translation where the aspects of literary psychology are the point of discussion at this writing

Abstract

This study discusses the translation quality comparison produced by SDL Free Translate and Tradukka online translation services. This study includes qualitative descriptive research which is using discussion methods, questionnaires and interviews. The result of this study is the quality of the translation produced by Tradukka is more accurate, acceptable and readable than SDL Free Translate. It can be showed by percentage of 9.8% for the quality of SDL Free translations and 11.3% for translations produced by Tradukka. From the results of the analysis found that not all of online translation services have good translating capacity. It is based on the quality of the translation produced between the two online translation services above.

Abstract

The research aims to find out the translation accuracy and acceptability of tourism transportation text in solocity.travel (Indonesia – English Version). This research focuses on the analysis of the translation quality especially its accuracy and acceptability. This research is a descriptive qualitative method. Sampling technique of this research is purposive sampling. The researchers used content analysis as a technique of collecting data to analyze the tourism transportation texts and also collects the data from the questionnaire that was given to the three raters to analyze the accuracy and acceptability of the data. The results of the translation quality show that the translation of tourism transportation text in website of solocity.travel is accurate and acceptable.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out at RRI Surakarta under the direct guidance of DPL and English Literature S1 Students from Surakarta University. The material presented is from the book entitled "English Phonetics and Phonology" written by Peter Roach (1998). The material elements presented include vowels (long and short vowels), dipthong and monophthong. The target audience is the wider community who listen to this program at RRI Surakarta. Service is carried out in three activities, namely; lecturing, listening to cassettes, pronunciation practice (response from the listeners or RRI Surakarta officers). All activities ran smoothly because of extra help/demonstrations from the lecturers. The aims of this service are to introduce and practice the pronunciation of English vowels with the help of symbols in the dictionary, and to be able to compare the pronunciation of English vowels with Indonesian or Javanese which they are more proficient in. It is hoped that this service will be useful in encouraging community interest, especially in the Surakarta area, to learn independently without always being in class with the help of a teacher. In this way, it is hoped that the English of Surkarta people will be better and more communicative. Evaluation during the service showed a positive response from the participants
