Abstract

Artikel ini membincangkan tentara dan maskulinitas melalui film Indonesia kontemporer. Dua film dianalisis dalam penelitian ini, yaitu Doea Tanda Cinta (2015) dan I Leave My Heart in Lebanon (2016). Mengacu pada paradigma kajian budaya yang dikemukakan oleh Stuart Hall, penelitian ini mencoba menempatkan film sebagai teks/wacana budaya yang perlu untuk dianalisis. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kajian film yang menganalisis unsur sinematik dan naratif (histoire dan discourse). Melalui artikel ini dapat diketahui bahwa representasi maskulinitas tentara dalam film Indonesia kontemporer cenderung dinamis. Film Doea Tanda Cinta merepresentasikan model maskulinitas normatif yang diasosiasikan dengan hegemoni terhadap perempuan. Film ini mengangkat ideologi patriarki. Film I Leave My Heart in Lebanon merepresentasikan model maskulinitas laki-laki peduli (caring masculinity) yang tidak hegemonik terhadap perempuan. This article discusses the army and masculinity through contemporary Indonesian films. Two films were analyzed in this study, namely Doea Tanda Cinta (2015) and I Leave My Heart in Lebanon (2016). Referring to the cultural study paradigm put forward by Stuart Hall, this study attempts to place film as a cultural text / discourse that needs to be analyzed. The method used is a film study method that analyzes cinematic and narrative elements (histoire and discourse). Through this article, it can be seen that the representation of army masculinity in contemporary Indonesian films tends to be dynamic. Doea Tanda Cinta film represents a model of normative masculinity associated with hegemony towards women. This film elevates patriarchal ideology. I Leave My Heart in Lebanon film represents a caring masculinity model that is not hegemonic to women.

Abstract

This study describes the Bragaweg changes from 1894 to 1949. In addition, this study describes the form of European-style activity in Braga Street that represents the modern nuances of the colonial period. The historical method is used to construct the Braga story. To support the analysis of this study, the author uses the concept of modernization of Lawrence V. Stockman.  He stated that modernization does not create something new but accept something new from another nation or other developed country. At first the European elite tried to adapt, then seek the formation of a typical European life in the colony. Bragaweg is a picture of the success of the European elit. The Bragaweg transformation represents economic growth in the region; From the emergence of staple stores to the rise of luxury and industrial goods stores. Modern impression is seen from the lifestyle practiced by the European elite and the full range of facilities and technology in the Bragaweg region. In the war of independence, the sparkling atmosphere of Europe was dimmed and replaced by the atmosphere of war.Keywords: Bragaweg, modern, life style, European elite.

Abstract

Kampung Angklung merupakan perkampungan penghasil angklung yang berada di Kabupaten Ciamis, Jawa Barat. Sejak tahun 2010 angklung telah menjadi warisan budaya yang diakui dunia melalui konvensi yang digelar UNESCO di Nairobi, Kenya. Oleh Karena itulah diperlukan upaya-upaya untuk terus memajukannya melalui kegiatan pelindungan, pengembangan, pemanfaatan, dan pembinaan sumberdaya kebudayaan yang berkelanjutan sebagaimana diamanatkan dalam Undang-undang Pemajuan Kebudayaan No.5 Tahun 2017. Artikel ini melihat masyarakat di Kampung Angklung dalam upaya menghidupkan dan menjaga ekosistem kebudayaan angklung yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara secara mendalam terhadap para pengrajin angklung di Kampung angklung serta stakeholder pemerintah yang mendukungnya. Ekosistem kebudayaan angklung di Kampung Angklung yang di dalamnya terdapat berbagai subsistem seperti ekosistem tanaman bambu, pengrajin angklung, seniman angklung, sistem produksi dan distribusi, serta kelembagaan masyarakat, telah berkontribusi terhadap upaya menghidupkan dan menjaga ekosistem kebudayaan yang berkelanjutan. Ekosistem kebudayaan angklung mampu menjaga kelestarian ekosistem lingkungan, pada saat yang sama mereka juga dapat mengambil manfaat ekonomis daripadanya sekaligus melestarikan kebudayaan angklung.  Kampung Angklung in Ciamis Regency, West Java is a well-known producer of angklung. Since 2010, angklung has officially become a world-recognized cultural heritage as a result of the UNESCO convention held in Nairobi, Kenya. As a consequence, further steps are needed to continue to advance angklung by providing the activities of protecting, developing, utilizing, and fostering the sustainable resource culture referring to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 2017 concerning Cultural Advancement. This article describes how the efforts of the people of Kampung Angklung to preserve and conserve the sustainable ecosystem of angklung culture. This research used the qualitative research methods, such as conducting the in-depth interviews with angklung craftsmen in Kampung Angklung, and the government stakeholders who supported the craftsmen. The ecosystem of angklung culture in Kampung Angklung, in which there are various subsystems such as bamboo plant ecosystem, angklung craftsmen, angklung artists, production and distribution systems, and community institutions, has contributed to preserve and conserve the sustainable ecosystem of angklung culture. The ecosystem of angklung culture assured to preserve the environmental ecosystem and, at the same time, to provide the economic benefits while preserving the angklung culture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mencoba membedah muatan ideologis yang terdapat dalam serial televise Patriot. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga membaca representasi tentara dan hubungan sipil-militer yang terlihat dalam serial tersebut. Serial Patriot dinilai penting karena menjadi serial televisi pertama yang mengangkat kisah militer sejak jatuhnya Orde Baru pada 1998. Serial Patriot dalam penelitian ini dilihat sebagai media massa yang merefleksikan nilai atau norma dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatatan kualitatif dengan memakai konsep codes of television yang dikemukakan oleh John Fiske. Ia menyatakan bahwa kode dalam televisi memiliki tiga tingkatan: reality, representation, dan ideology. Melalui penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa serial Patriot memiliki pesan ideologis yang tersirat, antara lain: nasionalisme, patriotisme, didaktisme, dan menempatkan tentara sebagai penjaga nilai moral. Hubungan sipil-militer dalam Patriot terlihat lebih didominasi oleh pihak militer. Peran pemimpin sipil tidak nampak dalam Patriot. Pihak sipil digambarkan bergantung kepada pemimpin yang memiliki latar belakang tentara.  This research tries to analyze the ideological contents that exist in the television series Patriot. In addition, this study also review the representation of soldiers and civil-military relations in the series. The Patriot series is important because it became the first television series to raise the military stories since the fall of the New Order Regime in 1998. The Patriot series in this study is seen as a mass media that reflects the value or norm in the society. This study uses a qualitative approach using the concept of codes of television proposed by John Fiske. He stated that is the code in television has three levels: reality, representation, and ideology. From this research, it can be seen that the Patriot series has an implied ideological message, among others: nationalism, patriotism, didactism, and placing the army as a guardian of moral values. The civil-military relationship in the patriot appears to be more dominated by the military. The role of civilian leaders is not seen in the Patriot. The civilian side is depicted depending on the leader who has a military background.
