Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of implementing flipped classroom model on students’ speaking skills. This research used quantitative method, the number of the sample were 34 of senior high school students which was taken purposively by using quasi-experimental research with before and after design. The whole online flipped classroom model was carried out, since the limitation to hold the actual face-to-face meeting at school, which still allow the students to interact face-to-face with each other and the teacher virtually through a group chat and video conferencing to discuss the material given and practicing to use spoken English during the class sessions. Pre-class activity was held using a group chat by giving instruction to the students to study the material before the actual class session and during the class session the whole class were meet face-to-face through video conferencing. A speaking test was carried before and after the implementation of flipped classroom model to assess the students’ speaking performance. Among the experimental group, the result showed the fully online flipped classroom model not only engage them with the English material but also significantly improved their speaking performance.  Furthermore, the students were become more confident to speak in English during the class session.

Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 yang melanda dunia berdampak pada segala aspek kehidupan tak terkecuali dunia pendidikan. Pola pembelajaran tatap muka di sekolah telah bergeser dari pembelajaran tradisoonal tatap muka menjadi pembelajaran jarak jauh yang dilakukan secara online. Penerapan pembelajaran online di masa pandemi memaksa terjadinya transformasi digital dalam dunia pendidikan sehingga menimbulkan beberapa permasalahan, dua di antaranya adalah teknologi dan sumber daya manusia. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh FKIP Universitas Islam Syekh Yusuf berupa pendampingan belajar siswa sekolah dasar di wilayah Kebon Nanas Kota Tangerang. Lokasi tersebut dipilih berdasarkan laporan dari hasil studi pendahuluan. Metode yang digunakan beruoa ekspositori. Hasil dari kegiatan ini bernilai positif mengingat adanya respon baik dari peserta dan masyarakat sekitar. Kata Kunci : Pandemi COVID-19, pembelajaran online, pendampingan belajar

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in order to find out what kinds of grammatical errors frequently committed by first grade students of SMAN 5 Kabupaten Tangerang in Academic Year 2018/2019. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMAN 5 Kabupaten Tangerang. In selecting the sample, the writer used purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research was students of X MIPA 1 class which consisted of 36 students. In conducting this research, the writer used qualitative research method. Moreover, the instrument used for this research was an essay test which was about writing a descriptive text in order to collect the data of students‟ grammatical errors in writing descriptive text. The result of this research shows that the students committed some grammatical errors in writing descriptive text, especially in the use of adjectives, adverbs, articles, nouns, pronouns, preposition, and verbs. Based on the result, the error in use of verbs is the most common errors in students‟ descriptive text writing products. Keywords: Descriptive Text, Error Analysis, Grammatical Error, Writing

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of students' writing skill through Observational Learning in SMKI Al-Khoirat Kabupaten Tangerang. This research is quantitative method, 30 students as the sample which taken not random by using Quasi-Experimental as the research. This design will performed using only one group without a control group. Students' test were used by the researcher to collect the data. The hypotheses data was tested using formula of Wilcoxon, it was known the output 'test statistic' Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000 < 0,05. Because the value of 0,000 is less than 0,05, It means, there is a significance differences between pre-test and post-test in experimental class using Observational Learning at the tenth grade of SMKI AL-KHOIRAT Kabupaten Tangerang, because before giving a treatment, the students lack knowledge in narrative text. Then, it was also known from the percentages students' post-test showing 79% students can pass writing skill, although many students cannot pass the KKM. Moreover students can improve their narrative writing skill after using observational learning method.
