Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the problem and difficulties of speaking at Muhammadiyah Lampung University students in Covid pandemic. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research were Muhammadiyah Lampung University students at first semester in English Education Department. The data collecting technique of this research used questionnaire. The result of this research indicated that the students in first semester of English Department have some problems and difficulties in speaking subject during Covid pandemic. There some problems and difficulties in practicing speaking in Covid pandemic namely 1) understanding the conversation; (2) less of vocabularies; (3) pronunciation; (4) shy, (5) Worrying for making grammatical errors, (6) lack of Technology, and (7) lack of motivation. Based on the analysis of questionnaire indicated that that 5 % in meaning, 22 % in vocabularies, 8 % in pronunciation, 32 % in shy, 8% Worrying for making grammatical errors, 10% lack of Technology, and 15% lack of motivation. Based on the data the majority students indicated that confidence is the most problem in speaking skill.

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan salah satu media untuk berkomunikasi. Orang tidak dapat berkomunikasi satu sama lain dan mengekspresikan ide-ide mereka tanpa bahasa. Bahasa Inggris adalah salah satu bahasa internasional. Jadi penting bagi kita untuk berkomunikasi dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Dalam berkomunikasi dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris kita harus menguasai tenses karena dengan menggunakan tenses yang tepat kita dapat membuat kalimat yang baik sehingga kita dapat berkomunikasi satu sama lain dengan lancar. Dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris khususnya tenses, guru membutuhkan media, teknik dan strategi yang baik karena memiliki pengaruh yang besar untuk membuat siswa lebih semangat dan termotivasi untuk mempelajari tenses. Dalam penelitian ini penulis memfokuskan pada penggunaan permainan yaitu Error Analysis Draw Game. Itu bisa meningkatkan dan meningkatkan penguasaan tenses siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Setelah menganalisis data, penulis menemukan hasil rasio adalah 4,73 dan ttabel adalah 2,00 untuk taraf signifikan 5% (α=0,05) dan 2,66 untuk taraf signifikan 1% (α=0,01). Artinya tratio > ttabel, sehingga tratio lebih tinggi dari ttabel. Penulis menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif penggunaan Error Analysis Draw Game terhadap penguasaan tenses siswa

Abstract

By using the aforementioned characters, it is hoped that students'' vocabulary mastery will go beyond simply knowing the definitions of the words. This is especially true for words and phrases that are commonly used or found on social media, such as Tiktok. Students'' language proficiency increases with the size of their vocabulary. They can mold their English and consider it one of their school topics by developing their vocabulary. The authors were motivated to conduct this study to learn more about the impact of social media platforms like Tiktok on vocabulary development in pupils based on the information and issues mentioned above. Pre-experimental research using a quantitative method was the research design used in this study. The researchers chose this approach because it provided a quantitative study design that was used to share questionnaires. The results of the survey show that students have a positive attitude towards using TikTok to learn English vocabulary. Due to the variety of vocabulary levels available, TikTok significantly helps students improve their English vocabulary. In addition, TikTok''s many engaging elements help to effectively improve students' vocabulary. In conclusion, TikTok is a technology tool that has a significant impact in many different areas. The use of TikTok in language learning increases students'' motivation to learn and is successful in acquiring English vocabulary.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose is to find out the using of Flashcard as an instructional media towards students’ reading comprehension. The study was done in the eleventh grade Nurul Ulum Tulung Agung Gadingrejo Pringsewu throughout the 2022–2023 academic year. The author employed action research in the classroom. Both experimental and control classes were employed by the author. The writer utilized flashcards as a learning tool in an experimental lesson, meanwhile the writer applied conventional treatment in the control group. The writer used quantitative descriptive research method. This study had a sample of 24 students as an experimental class. This study was used quantitative research. Pre-tests and post-tests were employed in the experimental class and control class to gather data. In the teaching-learning process, a test with 10 multiple-choice questions regarding the subject was used to gauge students' reading comprehension of an explanation text. This research used two cycles for the treatment in experimental class. To analyze the data was used the SPSS 16.0 App. There has been a noticeable improvement in reading comprehension skill as measured by the difference in pre- and post-test scores in the students of eleventh grade in MA Nurul Ulum Tulung Agung Gadingrejo Pringsewu. This research concluded that using Flashcard is effective as an instructional media towards students’ reading comprehension.
