Abstract

Mucuna bracteata is a cover crop that is commonly used in oil palm plantations. It has many advantages, such as rapidly growing, preventing erosion on open land and suppressing weed growth. The research aims to determine the effect of various compositions planting medium with addition of organic and inorganic fertilizers and watering volume on the growth of Mucuna bracteata. The research was conducted in Kebun Pendidikan dan Penelitian (KP2) Institut Pertanian STIPER Yogyakarta, from April to July 2016. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial consisting of two factors was applied as experimental design. The first factor was growing media consisting of four levels, namely P0 (regosol, without fertilizer), P1 (regosol + NPK), P2 (regosol + manure), P3 (regosol + compost). The second factor was watering volume consisting of three levels, namely V1 (200 ml/day), V2 (400 ml/day), and V3 (600 ml/day). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT), both with significance level of 5%, were then used to find out whether significant differences among treatments, were existed. Regression was used if ANOVA showed no significant differences among treatment. The result showed that there was no interaction between treatment, growing media and watering volume on Mucuna bracteata’s growth. Regosol and manure was the best media to support plant growth Mucuna bracteata, while the watering volume was not. Keywords : Growth, Mucuna bracteata, growing medium, watering volume

Abstract

Gerbera, an ornamental flower plant of herbs, has been commonly cultivated as a potted plant or cut flowers. The main problem in conventional propagation Gerbera is insufficient amount of seeds to meet the growing demand of planting material. This study aims to develop effective and low cost in vitro system of Gerbera propagation; therefore Gerbera seeds are available in large quantities and cheaper price. The research was conducted in laboratory of plant tissue culture, Stiper Agriculture Institute, Yogyakarta from March to June 2017. The young leaves Gerbera jamesonii, commonly planted in the Dieng plateau area, were used as explant. The explants were inoculated in solid medium which contain of ¼ MS (Murashige and Skoog), sucrose 30 g/L and combination of NAA (Naphthalene Acetate Acid) and BAP (Benzilaminopurin). The combinations of NAA and BAP were A0B0 (NAA 0 mg/L + BAP 0 mg/L); A1B0 (NAA 1 mg/L + BAP 0 mg/L); A2B0 (NAA 2 mg/L + BAP 0 mg/L); A0B1 (NAA 0 mg/L + BAP 1 mg/L); A2B1 (NAA 2 mg/L + BAP 1 mg/L); A0B2 (NAA 0 mg/L + BAP 2 mg/L); A1B2 (NAA 1 mg/L + BAP 2 mg/L), A2B2 (NAA 2 mg/L + BAP 2 mg/L). It was observed that ¼ MS medium supplemented with NAA and BAP can be used for callus induction from leaf explants of Gerbera jamesonii. Callus began to be induced three to four weeks after planting. Medium with combination of NAA 2 ppm and BAP 1 ppm (A2B1) produced the best characterized callus, with shiny green appearance and clustered form (embryogenic). Abstract

Lettuce is a type of vegetables that are favored by Indonesian. Lettuce is usually served as fresh vegetables. The leaves contain of vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin C. The research aims to determine the effect of various compositions growing medium with addition of goat urine on growth and yield of lettuce. The research was conducted in Maguwoharjo Yogyakarta, from November 2016 to January 2017. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial consisting of two factors was applied as experimental design. The first factor was growing media consisting of four levels, namely M1 (soil), M2 (soil+compost), M3 (soil+charcoal rice husk), M4 (soil+compost+charcoal rice husk). The second factor was dosage of goat urine consisting of four levels, namely D0 (0 ml, NPK was applied), D1 (50 ml), D2 (100 ml), and D3 (150 ml). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Least Significance Difference (LSD), both with significance level of 5%, were then used to find out whether significant differences among treatments, were existed. The result showed that there was an interaction between treatments in plant height. The best combination was M3 (soil+charcoal rice husk) and D0 (0 ml/NPK). The compositions of growing media were significantly affected in number of leaves, fresh weight of plant, and fresh weight of upper part of plant. The best growing medium was M2 (soil+compost). The application of goat urine showed the same effect on growth and yield of lettuce. Goat urine can replace NPK (plant fertilizer) on growth and yield of lettuce. Abstract

The research aims to determine the diversity and the dominance of the weeds in mineral land and peat then compare the weeds diversity between both. The research was conducted in Pelalawan District, Riau, from April to May 2018. The research was conducted by a descriptive method. The sample was taken using a square plot measuring 0,9 x 0,9 meter with 10 until 15 replications. The plot sample was taken on a path in mineral land and peatland. The result shows that the diversity of the weeds was higher in mineral land (12 species) than in peatland (6 species). None of the species in mineral land and peatland are dominant species. Broadleaf weeds and fern species are a dominant weed type of both lands. Perennial weeds species is a dominant weed type of both lands. The weeds community of mineral land and peatland shows the different compositions based on the similarity index (IS Sorensen) caused by the different environment condition. Abstract

Embryogenic callus produced from somatic cells has a significant role in clonal propagation and oil palm breeding (assembly of superior varieties) through tissue culture techniques. Induction and development of embryogenic callus were determined by media composition, vitamins, amino acids, and growth regulators (hormones). This study aimed to determine the role of natural and synthetic hormone which supplemented in MS medium to induce embryogenic callus of oil palm. The research was conducted in laboratory of plant tissue culture, Stiper Agriculture Institute, Yogyakarta from February to May 2019. The explants were inoculated in solid MS medium with three treatments, namely MS medium (Murashige and Skoog), MS + synthetic hormone (2,4-Diclorophenoxyacetate), and MS + natural hormone (young coconut water). The results showed synthetic hormone (2,4-Diclorophenoxyacetate) which supplemented in MS medium can induce embryogenic callus of oil palm explants. However, natural hormone (coconut water) has not been able to induce embryogenic callus. Keywords: Callus induction, oil palm, 2,4-D, coconut water

Abstract

The aims of this research is to determine the effect of the comparison of the composition of the planting media on the growth and yield of three varieties of cabai rawit (Capsicum annuum L). This research was conducted in Maguwoharjo Village, Depok District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. The research was conducted from March to June 2019 using refusal soil and manure. This study used a factorial method, which was arranged in a completely randomizing design (RAL) with 2 factors. The first factor is the ratio of the composition of the planting medium (manure: soil) with a level of 1: 1, 1: 3, 3: 1, and control. The second factor is the varieties of cabai rawit such us Dian F1, Sret and Sigantung. The results showed that there was no interaction between the comparison of the composition of the planting medium and three varieties of cabai rawit on each parameter, but had a significant effect on several parameters. Comparison of the composition of the planting medium has a significant effect on the growth and yield. Planting medium, that contain manure: soil (1:1) had a significant effect on the parameters of the number of fruits and the weight of the fruit, while the 1: 3 ratio of the planting medium had a significant effect on the parameters of the fresh root weight and the root length. Abstract

Fertilization in oil palm nurseries is a required activity to support plant growth. The use of organic fertilizers can be an alternative to reduce the operational costs on oil palm nurseries. This study aims to determine the ef ect of the application of liquid organic fertilizer (tofu liquid waste) and cow manure on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery. The research was conducted at the Educational and Research Garden (KP2) of the STIPER Yogyakarta Agricultural Institute, which is in Maguwoharjo, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors was used as experimental method in this research. The first factor was the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (tofu liquid waste) which consists of 4 levels: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%. The second factor was the dose of cow manure consisting of 4 levels: 0 g, 100 g, 200 g, 300 g. The results were analyzed by Analysis of Variance and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test, both with significance level of 5%, to find out the dif erences among treatments. The results showed that there was no significant interaction between the treatment of tofu liquid waste concentration and the dose of cow manure on all observed parameters. However, there was still a tendency that the concentration of tofu liquid waste 50% and the dose of cow manure 100 g was the best combination in all parameters. Abstract

Pengaruh cekaman kekeringan akibat perubahan iklim memerlukan suatu upaya untuk menjaga ketahanan tanaman dengan cara pemberian pupuk silika (Si) yang dikombinasikan dengan pupuk NPK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk NPK dan pupuk silika terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2019 sampai dengan Mei 2020, bertempat di desa Maguwoharjo, Kecamatan Depok, Kabupaten Sleman, Yogyakarta dan Laboratorium Sentral, Institut Pertanian Stiper, Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan percobaan faktorial yang disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (Completely Randomized Design). Faktor pertama adalah pupuk NPK (16-16-16) yang terdiri dari tiga aras yaitu, tanpa pupuk NPK, pupuk NPK (2,5 g/bibit), pupuk NPK (5 g/bibit). Faktor kedua adalah pupuk silika (SiO2) yang terdiri dari empat aras yaitu, tanpa pupuk silika, pupuk silika 5% (10 ml/bibit), dan pupuk silika 10% (20 ml/bibit), pupuk silika 15% (30 ml/bibit). Setiap perlakuan dilakukan 5 kali ulangan sehingga jumlah bibit kelapa sawit keseluruhan adalah 60 bibit. Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode Analysis of Variance (Anova) pada jenjang nyata 5% dan untuk mengetahui beda nyata antar perlakuan diuji dengan uji Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) pada jenjang nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan tidak adanya interaksi nyata antara pupuk NPK dan pupuk silika terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit. Pemberian pupuk NPK dengan berbagai dosis dan pupuk silika dengan berbagai konsentrasi memberikan pengaruh yang sama terhadap seluruh parameter yang diamati, akan tetapi dosis 2,5 g/bibit dan konsentrasi 10% memberikan nilai rata-rata tertinggi hampir di semua parameter pengamatan. Abstract

Penelitian dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh macam varietas hibrida tanaman tomat telah dilakukan di Kebun Pendidikan dan Penelitian (KP2) Instiper Yogyakarta di Desa Wedomarani, Kecamatan Ngemplak, Kabupaten Sleman, Yogyakarta pada bulan Maret hingga Mei 2020. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan percobaan satu faktor yaitu macam varietas yang disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan macam varietas terdiri dari 3 aras yaitu V1 (Tymoti F1), V2 (Fortuna F1), V3 (Sinta F1). Data kuantitatif yang diperoleh dari pengamatan dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan apabila terdapat beda nyata, maka dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan dengan α 5%. Data kualitatif bentuk buah disajikan dalam bentuk gambar atau foto yang disertai dengan deskripsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan tiga macam varietas tomat berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman tomay terutama pada parameter jumlah bunga, jumlah buah dan bentuk buah. Varietas Sinta memberikan hasil paling baik pada parameter jumlah bunga dan jumlah buah meskipun tidak berbeda nyata dengan varietas Tymoti. Bentuk buah dari ketiga varietas menunjukkan sedikit perbedaan pada bagian ujung buah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh hara kalsium pada dolomite terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman tomat (Lycopersicm esculentum Mill) varietas Permata. Penelitian telah dilakukan di Maguwoharjo, Yogyakarta pada bulan maret hingga juni 2020. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan satu perlakuan yaitu dosis pupuk dolomit yang terdiri dari dari tiga aras yaitu D1 (dolomit 33.75 g = 50%), D2 (dolomit 67.50 g = 100%), D3 (dolomit 101.25 g = 150%). Setiap perlakuan dosis pupuk dolomite diulang sebanyak 10 kali. Data hasil penelitian di analisis dengan sidik ragam pada jenjang nyata 5%. Data yang berbeda nyata diuji lanjut dengan DMRT 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh dari perlakuan dosis pupuk dolomit pada tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, lebar daun, buah tomat dan bobot segar buah tomat. Perlakuan terbaik adalah dosis dolomit 101.25 g. Kata kunci: dolomite, kalsium (Ca), tomat varietas permata.
