Abstract

This research is designed to demonstrate (1) how the Indian media attempts to construct the Islamophobia issue during the Covid-19 pandemic (particularly in the earlier March-April, 2020) and (2) how the Indian news media use social media, such as Instagram and Twitter, to claim that Muslims were the disseminators of the virus to the majority of Indian population. In collecting and analyzing data, the researchers use the descriptive qualitative methodology as the scientific research procedure. There are three collected data classified in this research i.e., the primary data, the secondary data, and the supporting data. Furthermore, in analyzing the data, the researchers appled the critical discourse analysis (CDA) as the linguistics theory to study the Islamophobia discourse on the news media. Finally, the research result shows that (1) most of the Indian mainstream media not only spread Islamophobia but also justify and hegemonize Muslims as Corona virus disseminators , and (2) these news media eventually influenced hate speech memes and racial statements posted by Indian netizens/Buzzers on social media that accuse Muslim minority as the disseminator of the Corona virus.

Abstract

One of the most significant things that EFL students at the university level should understand is the English education curriculum program. Curriculum and syllabus are discussed in the program as the procedures of preparing, constructing, and delivering the teaching material to whom the teaching material is presented. This book goes into detail about language curriculum and creating appropriate materials for language teaching. However, in this article, I did not only examine the book's basic theme, but I also assessed its weaknesses, strengths, and challenges. In this section, I first demonstrated the principle ideas in Rochmawati's book. Second, I criticized various themes that were left out of the book.

Abstract

In an EFL teaching context, the teacher's role is critical for helping students master four English skills. Teachers should ensure that the used learning tools can develop students’ language skills (in terms of listening, reading, speaking, and writing). According to experts, literature is a useful learning tool for achieving these objectives. Therefore, this article investigates the benefits of integrating literature into language learning activities. The research method used in this article is qualitative method with the library research approach. The data collected are separated into two types of data, i.e. primary and secondary. Both of these data sources are obtained from several articles (published in either national or international journals), books, and conference papers that relate to the use of literature in English teaching and learning. The total number of sources analyzed in the findings are 8 articles, 4 books, and 3 papers of conferences. The results show that using literature in language learning activities has various advantages, i.e., 1) developing the learners’ language skills, 2) triggering students’ learning motivation, 3and ) providing multi-cultural understanding for EFL learners.
