Abstract

Araceae is a group of plants that are consistently dominant in humid and wet conditions areas. This family is among the most common plant groups found in the campus Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) at Jatinangor, which are still covered by green areas. However, the diversity of Araceae has not been revealed yet. Therefore, this research was conducted to provide information on the Araceae in ITB Jatinangor Campus. Field exploration was carried out during September - November 2021 at ITB Jatinangor. As many as 15 genera and 22 species of Araceae have been discovered within the campus. Taxonomically, they are grouped into 3 subfamilies, i.e Aroideae (12 genera), Monsteroideae (2 genera), and Pothoideae (1 genus). The largest genera of Araceae found on the campus were Anthurium and Philodendron, both cultivated as ornamental plants. Several local species, such as Alocasia macrorrhizos, Colocasia esculenta, Pistia stratiotes, Typhonium flagelliforme, and T. roxburghii were also found. Three other ornamental species have been escaped from cultivation, namely Caladium bicolor, Dieffenbachia seguine, and Syngonium podophyllum had were also found here. This research was part of the Flora Campus ITB Jatinangor Exploration, a project initiated by Herbarium Bandungense.

Abstract

Callisia Loefl. merupakan marga tumbuhan asing dengan distribusi asal dari Amerika tropis yang untuk pertama kalinya ditemukan di Jawa. Marga tersebut ditemukan di Desa Cikeruh dan Sayang, Kecamatan Jatinangor, Kabupaten Sumedang, Jawa Barat. Callisia diwakili oleh dua jenis tanaman hias, yaitu C. fragrans (Lindl.) Woodson dan C. repens (Jacq.) L. Namun, jenis yang terakhir juga telah lolos dari kultivasi dan tumbuh pada celah antar bebatuan di Desa Sayang, Jatinangor. Callisia fragrans dicirikan oleh perawakan terna yang kokoh seperti perdu, stolon yang panjang, susunan daun spiral, helaian daun melanset-melonjong, dan tepi daun mengombak. Sementara itu, Callisia repens berupa terna dengan susunan daun berderet dua, helaian daun membundar telur melebar hingga membundar, permukaan adaksial daun berwarna hijau atau dengan bercakbercak ungu, dan permukaan abaksial daun berwarna ungu. Deskripsi, foto, dan diskusi singkat disajikan sebagai berikut. Kunci determinasi untuk puak Tradescantieae di Jawa juga disediakan secara lengkap pada artikel ini.

Abstract

Plectranthus (Lamiaceae) is a popular ornamental plant all over the world. The study of the genus Plectranthus in Java was considered complete after the publication of Flora of Java Vol. II. Many authors, however, have reported the presence of numerous alien species on the island in recent years. The aim of this research is to provide current information on Plectranthus in Java, particularly the newly recorded alien species. The study was carried out using the free exploration method in the provinces of Banten, Jakarta, West Java, and East Java. We reported the first occurrence of P. verticillatus (L.f.) Druce in Java in this paper. The species is a succulent herb native to Southern Africa that has grown in popularity as an ornamental plant throughout the world. It is a newly discovered alien species to the Alien Flora of Java. The species appears to have escaped cultivation, with spontaneous populations found in Jatihandap and Cipadung, both in Bandung City. We also reported that P. verticillatus is the only member of Plectranthus found in Java in a recent taxonomic study. There is a description, photographs, botanical illustrations, and a brief discussion.

Abstract

Mayacaceae Kunth is a monogeneric family with a single genus, Mayaca Aubl. Its family members are herbs found in swamps, lakes, and rivers. The family is distributed throughout the Neotropics, except for M. baumii Gürke, which is only found in Africa [de Carvalho MLS & Machado AFP., Revisiting Mayacaceae Kunth towards to future perspectives in the family, Rodriguésia 66(2): 421-427. 2015]. Mayacaceae consists of ten species and one of them, Mayaca fluviatilis Aubl. is widely cultivated as an aquascape ornamental plant, including in Indonesia. This aquatic family is not yet recorded in the Flora of Java Vol. III [Backer CA & Bakhuizen van den Brink RC., Flora of Java, Vol. III, Groningen: NVP Noordhoff. 1968].
