Abstract

Background: Undernutrition can inhibit growth and development. Specifically, in development, it can change the structure and function of the brain. Fine motor development in infants is affected by many factors such as undernutrition and iron intake. Undernutrition status can occur due to unfulfilled nutritional intake. Iron deficiency can negatively affect fine motor development in children. This study aimed to determine the correlation of nutritional status, iron intake, and fine motor development in infants aged 6-11 months.Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted at eight Community Health Centers in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A total of 201 infants aged 6-11 months were randomly selected as the sample of the study. The dependent variable was fine motor development. The independent variable was status (Weight/Age). The data on fine motor development were measured by a Prescreening Developmental Questionnaire (PDQ). The data were analyzed by Chi-square.Results: Good nutritional status increased fine motor development in infants aged 6-11 months (OR= 7.12; 95% CI= 3.03 to 16.73; p<0.001). There was no difference between iron intake and fine motor development (OR= 0.61; 95% CI= 0.20 to 1.83; p= 0.469).Conclusion: Good nutritional status increases fine motor development in infants age 6-11 months. Keywords: fine motor development, nutritional status, iron intakeCorrespondence: Catur Retno Lestari. Abstract

Blood transfusion is the process of distributing blood from donors to patients with the aim of replacing blood lost due to bleeding, surgery, shock and malfunctioning of the blood-forming organs that require replacement blood in the form of whole blood or blood components. Blood is stored with the First in First Out (FIFO) system, which is a system that regulates the expulsion of blood in which the first blood that enters will be removed first. The storage period of blood will experience changes in blood components, especially erythrocytes will experience significant changes in shape over the length of time blood storage. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in hemoglobin levels of donor blood before and after storage for 7 days. This research was conducted at the Blood Transfusion Unit of PMI Kudus Regency. The number of samples used as many as 15 samples. The results showed that there were differences in hemoglobin levels before storage and after storage for 7 days (0.000). The average value before storage was 14.7 g/dl, after storage for 7 days 18.2 g/dl, the highest hemoglobin before storage was 15.4 g/dl, the highest after storage was 18.2 g/dl, while the lowest hemoglobin was before storage. storage 14.0 gr/dl and after storage 17.3 gr/dl. The conclusion is there is a significant difference between hemoglobin levels before storage and after storage for 7 days.

Abstract

Hepatitis B is an infectious disease that attacks the liver which can be acute and chronic. Blood transfusion is one of the most common horizontal HBV transmission routes. In donors who suffer from hepatitis B disease or become carriers of hepatitis B, the blood containing the hepatitis B virus can be transmitted to recipients through blood transfusions. Several measures are taken to prevent the transmission of hepatitis, namely by checking for HBsAg. If HBsAg is positive, the donor is not allowed to donate. The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of the results of HBsAg examination on donors at the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Donor Unit, Kudus Regency during 2020. Donors at the Kudus Regency Blood Transfusion Unit during 2020. The study was carried out in January 2021 at the Kudus Regency Blood Transfusion Unit. . Diagnostic tests are performed using the Frequency Distribution. The results showed that the number of reactive donors was 96 (0.60%) of the total 16,081 donors. The number of reactive donors was more in males, namely 78 (81.25%) of the total reactive donors, while 18 (18.75%). Reactive HBsAg cases with the most donors were in February 2020 and the lowest cases were in November 2020. Hepatitis B affects men more than women. This is because men are generally more active than women, while hepatitis is transmitted through bodily fluids, which may occur due to activity, for example, through wounds received at work or while shaving.

Abstract

The degree of health of a person's body has decreased which consists of one of the supporting body health, namely cardiorespiratory health or called the degree of maximum oxygen quantity (VO2Max). Children who do less physical activity in the future can experience cardiorespiratory problems such as shortness of breath, heart attack, chest pain, and stroke, because cardiorespiratory fitness increases insulin sensitivity, glucose transport, improves nervous system function and lowers heart rate. This study aims to to determine the relationship between hemoglobin levels and cardiorespiratory resistance (VO2max) in elementary school children. This study is a correlational study on the subjects of elementary school children aged 10-12 years. and multistage random sampling. Measurement of physical fitness level using the Harvard step test method, pulse rate and VO2max were measured using an oximeter, hemoglobin level data using the cyanmeth method. The statistical test used was the Shapiro-Wilk test and the regression estimation curve test was used to determine the relationship between variables. The results of measuring cardiorespiratory endurance (VO2max) by measuring cardiorespiratory function using the Harvard step test showed that on average elementary school children had less cardiorespiratory endurance (49.01 ± 15.16). The results of measuring the hemoglobin level of the subjects showed that the average hemoglobin level was normal (11.03±0.83 mg/dl). The normality test of the data used, namely Shapiro-Wilk, shows a significance of 0.000 (<0.05), which means that the data is not normally distributed. The results of the analysis obtained using the regression estimation curve obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.46 with a significance of 0.786 (p>0.05). The conclusion in this study is that there is no relationship between hemoglobin levels and cardiorespiratory endurance (VO2max) in elementary school children. The importance of providing a balanced nutritional intake, a balanced diet and activity can increase hemoglobin and VO2max levels in elementary school children.
