Abstract

This research examined whether there is any difference of performing mathematics in the topic of Indices & Surds on cognitive learning outcomes between female and male students in grade 9. The research method used was causal-comparative, conducted in t-test for independent means to represent the comparison of mathematics’ cognitive learning outcomes between female and male students, with the significance level 5%. There were 113 respondents who were selected using the convenience sampling technique and they consisted of 68 female students and 45 male students. There were two independent means samples that were going to be compared. The instrument used to obtain students’ demographic characteristics of gender and students’ mathematics cognitive learning outcomes in the topic of Indices & Surds was their score list in midterm report card. Based on the result, it was obtained that  1.69 less than  (1.69 < 1.98). Therefore, Ho is accepted, means that there is no mean score differences in mathematics’ cognitive learning outcomes in the topic of Indices & Surds between grade IX female students and grade 9 male students. Thus, the conclusion is that gender as a causal factor in this research gave no difference towards grade 9 students’ cognitive learning outcomes, particularly in mathematics ability in the topic of Indices & Surds in ABC Middle School.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat apakah ada perbedaan nilai rata-rata dari hasil belajar kognitif matematika pada topik pangkat dan akar antara siswa perempuan kelas IX dan siswa laki-laki kelas IX.

Abstract

The sacrament of holy baptism is one of the sacraments recognized and accepted in the church. Holy baptism is carried out using water as an element that symbolizes the cleansing or washing of human sins. The Westminster Confession explains that holy baptism is a seal and a sign of the cleansing of believers. Holy baptism can be performed by believing adults as well as children with the beliefs of their parents. Valid holy baptism is in the name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. In fact, there are some churches that have always considered holy baptism as an instrument of salvation and truly the water of baptism cleanses the sins of mankind. In addition, some churches also reject the baptism of children and baptism is believed to be done repeatedly for personal and church reasons. The truth held as the cleansing of sins is only the blood of Christ shed on the cross, baptism is only a stamp and a sign. The purpose of writing this paper is to explain theologically holy baptism in Wesminster's creed. The method of writing this paper is a literature review.

Abstract

Scholars have been proposing numerous models in “reconciling” faith and science. All proposed models, generally, could be categorized into four approaches: conflict, independence, dialogue, and integration. Since models in approaching the dialog of faith and science, basically, express presuppositions of how someone view reality. In this essay, therefore, these models are reviewed in the light of how Christians should comprehend the reality through the Scripture: God reveals Himself in two ways, general and special. General revelation is the world as His creation, and special revelation is the His words that have been written in the Bible. Special revelation, fundamentally, is a metaphysical framework for Christians to understand God’s creation. As the result, approaching model which cohere to biblical concept of one truth is integration model, which is, as some scholars call, the reconstruction or paradigmatic approach.

Abstract

Both Westminster Confession of Faith and Heidelberg Catechism discuss the core of Reformed teaching on Justification. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the doctrine of justification on both. As the result, the two documents point out similar essences of justification in Reformed theology. It is the work of Jesus Christ in fullfilling satisfaction to his Father’s justice in the elect behalf. Christ’s righteousness is imputed to the believers and their sin to Christ. Double imputation. Faith taking a role as an instrument for God’s people to be justified, and both documents emphasize that it is also God’s grace. Westminster Confession of Faith and Heidelberg Catechism are aligned in teaching the doctrine of justification.
