Abstract

The people of Sarmi has varieties of oral literature that scatter among the big five tribes (Sobei, Armati, Rumbuai, Manirem, and Isirawa). The main data of this research is Anak Seratus Satu folktale from Sobei Tribe. This descriptive qualitative research aims to document oral literature and to analyze the morphology of Sobei folktale based on Vladimir Propp’s structure. From the analysis, it is known that Sobei folktale is relatively complete though the plot is quite simple. There are twenty two functions and five spheres of action in it. Basically, the introduction of the character was functionally as awhole because it connected to the main function of story. Briefly, this folktale reflected the competitive manner of  Sobei people.

Abstract

As a part of culture that grows and exists among its society, oral literature plays an important role among them. The existence of oral literature is becoming a medium to explore the culture of such society because the core of literature is culture. This literature anthropology research is aimed to know the oral literature of Moy tribe focused on cultural aspects such as technology, religion, myth, law, and art by applying descriptive qualitative approach. Based on the analaysis of the cultural aspects in oral literature Moy tribe, it is known that their myth could be used as a medium to have a comprehesif understanding of their culture.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine poetry appreciation level of class 5th of elementary school students in Merauke Regency. This study includes a type of quantitative research using a descriptive approach. The research subjects of class 5th of elementary school students in Merauke Regency school year 2017/2018 consisting of 72 students from 12 schools. The technique of taking school sampling uses cluster sampling, while the technique of class sampling uses random (random) samples. The technique of collecting data uses a test of poetry appreciation level. Measurements are made through ranking which is done by calculating the percentage for a scale of four. The results showed that the poetry appreciation level of class 5th of elementary school students in Merauke Regency was still low with an average value of 49. It was also known, factors such as how to appreciate poetry, school status, and school location also influenced students' poetry appreciation rates.
