Abstract

Abstrak Analisis kebutuhan merupakan landasan khusus untuk mencari informasi tentang kebutuhan dasar peserta didik sesuai dengan prioritas pembelajaran bahasa tertentu untuk mengembangkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan penelitian deskriptif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kebutuhan mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar (SD) di Kota Payakumbuh. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah para guru yang mempunyai latar belakang pendidikan bahasa Inggris dan orang tua siswa di SD tersebut. Dalam pengumpulan data kuantitatif, peneliti menggunakan angket dan wawancara. Setelah menganalisis data, peneliti menemukan 94,76% guru dan 94,09% orang tua berpendapat bahwa sesuai dengan target kebutuhan bahwa mata pelajaran Bahasa inggris diperlukan untuk diajarkan di SD. Kemudian, 63,28% orang tua dan 92,32% guru berpendapat bahwa berdasarkan kebutuhan belajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris diperlukan untuk diajarkan di SD. Oleh karena itu, mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SD perlu diajarkan untuk menunjang siswa di Sekolah Menengah Pertama nantinya.Keyword: Analisis Kebutuhan, Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, Sekolah Dasar.AbstractNeed analysis is a specific ground for finding information about learners’ basic needs in accordance with the priority of learning a particular language to develop students’ knowledge and skills in language learning. In this research, the researcher used descriptive research. The purpose of this research to analyze the needs of English subjects at Elementary School of Kota Payakumbuh. Participants in this research were the teachers with English education background and parents from the Elementary School students. In gathering the quantitative data, the researcher used questionnaire and interview. After analyzing the data, the researcher found 94,76% of the teachers and 94,09% of the parents think target need is needed to be taught English subject at Elementary School. Then, 63,28% of the parents and 92,32% of the teachers think learning need is needed to teach English at Elementary School. As result, it is necessary to be taught English Subject at Elementary School to support students in Junior High School later.Keyword: Need Analysis, English Subject, Elementary School

Abstract

Abstract

Taxonomies used in education are referred to as following Bloom's Taxonomy. This study examines the use of Bloom's Taxonomy in the English teacher's lesson plans at the senior high school in East Payakumbuh. Descriptive research is what this study fell under. East Payakumbuh Senior High School served as the research setting. Th participants included English teachers from grades X and XI. As a source of information, the researcher studied official documents. Peer debriefing was employed by the researcher to verify the reliability of the data. The researcher followed the steps Gay suggested for data analysis. There were a few procedures involved in analyzing the descriptive data, including data data managing, reading or memoing, description, classifying, and writing report (2003:239). According to the findings, the English teacher used the cognitive domain the most in lesson plans, specifically C1 (Knowledge) 110 times; the affective domains were A2 (Responding) 6 times; and the psychomotor domains were P3 (Precision) 37 times.

Abstract

Reflective teaching is done to know the strength and weakness from process of teaching. Opening skill, arranging lesson skill, timing allocation skill, explaining skill, giving stimulus variation, and closing and evaluating skill were reflected by candidates of teacher in this research. This research used descriptive research in qualitative method. The purpose of this research was to know the implementation of reflective teaching in micro teaching class. The method of this research was descriptive research. The participants of this research were the sixth semester in micro teaching class at English department of STKIP Yayasan Abdi Pendidikan Payakumbuh. In collecting the data, the researcher applied observation, students’ journal, and recording. In analyzing data, the researcher used some steps, they are: data managing, reading/memoing, classifying, interpreting, and writing report. After doing the research, the researcher got the result that 63,3% students in micro teaching class were able to reflect themselves. Thus, the students were able to implement reflective teaching in micro teaching class.

Abstract

Strategies in writing that usually used by lecturers are STOP, AIM, PLAN, KWL, plot diagram, WRITE, DARE, CDO, color coding, COPS, job card, sumarization, collaborative writing, word processing, inquiry activities, TTW and pictures. The purpose of this reseach was to know the strategy used by lecturers in teaching writing at STKIP Yayasan Abdi Pendidikan. The research participants were English Department lecturers who teach writing. In collecting the data, the researcher used interview. In choosing the participants, the researcher used purposive sampling. The researrhcer used peer-debriefing in checking data trustworthiness that got by the researcher. In data analysis, the researcher did Data managing, Reading or Memoing, Classifying, Interpreting, Writing Report. After analyzing, the resercher found that strategies used by lecturers in teaching writing were STOP, AIM, PLAN, Plot diagram, WRITE, CDO, COPS, SRSD, Smmarization, inquiry activities. Stratgies that seldom used by lecturers in teaching writing were KWL, job cards, CW, Word processing, pictures dan TTW. Then, strategies that never used by lecturers were color codding strategy.

Abstract

Listening is the activity of obtaining information about processes by listening to sounds. This study is a descriptive study using qualitative methods. The aim was to identify the media used by English teachers in listening classes at secondary schools in Payakumbuh district. Researchers conducted this study at a secondary school in Payakumbuh District. Twelve English teachers from Payakumbu District Middle School were selected through an open recruitment process. Researchers used questionnaires and interviews to obtain data. After conducting the study, the findings revealed that graphic media, which received percentages of 54.4% with a final score of 604, made up the majority of the materials used by English teachers to teach listening. Then, audio media received percentages of 25.4% and a score of 283. Audiovisual media, which is hardly often used, received percentages of 20.2% with a final score of 224. According to the data from the questionnaire and the teachers' responses from the interview, English teachers also employ graphic, audio, and audio visual media to teach listening. Thus, it can be said that listening skills were taught using media by English teachers at Payakumbuh District Junior High School.
