Abstract

Background: One of the key to successful breastfeeding is support from health professionals. Students of Politeknik Kesehatan Kemenkes Yogyakarta is a prospective health workers who will spearhead the success of exclusive breastfeeding program. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes about breastfeeding in first year students of Students of Politeknik Kesehatan Kemenkes Yogyakarta Methods: An observational study with cross sectional study design. Scores of attitude and knowledge of breastfeeding was assessed from the structured and backtranslationed questionnaire Results: This study was followed by 74 respondents. A total of 98.6% of respondents are women. 51.35% are students of undergraduate level. More than 90% of respondents could answer the question of exclusive breastfeeding, dietary intake of nursing mothers, and the benefits of breast-feeding points. Most respondents did not answer breastfeeding challenges point. A positive attitude also shown at the same points of knowledge items. Meanwhile, negative attitude was also shown at breastfeeding challenges items. Spearman correlation results suggest a link between knowledge and attitudes about breastfeeding at the first-year students majoring in nutrition of Politeknik Kesehatan Yogyakarta (P <0.05, r = 0.245) Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes about breastfeeding at the first-year students majoring in nutrition of Politeknik Kesehatan Kemenkes Yogyakarta Keywords : breastfeeding, knowledge, attitude, students

Abstract

Lack of awareness in food label reading could be a problem of eating habit in Indonesian especially in youth. School-aged children are susceptible group to have risk from unsafe packaged snack food. Comic book would be one of good education media for them. Aim of the study was to raise awareness to food label reading and to make a good media to educate youth to read packaged food/snack label. This study was a research and development study (R and D study) with 4 D approach (define, design, develop, disseminate). After designing the media (including storyline and cover design) the media was rated by 2 media experts, tested in school-aged children, and also requested feedback from school teachers. Quantitative data were shown in percentage of feasibility, while qualitative data were analyzed by saturation of data. The rating test from experts showed that overall comic feasibility was 87,86% (means feasible to use). The testing from users or school-aged children showed that overall comic feasibility was 96,41% (means feasible). The school teachers gave positive feedbacks on comic book. The conclusion of the study is that the comic book about food labelling with folklore character is feasible to use.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy can have a negative impact on mortality and morbidity of mother and fetus. The results of pregnancy with anemia among intra-uterine growth retardation (IUGR), preterm birth, low birth weight (LBW), and an increased risk of neonatal death. Effect of pregnancy on maternal anemia among shortness of breath, fatigue, palpitations, sleep disturbances, increased risk of bleeding during labor, pre-eclampsia, and sepsis.To determine the effect of video media to the knowledge and attitude in preventing anemia among pregnant mothers.Quasi-experimental research design with pre-post test with control group design. The research was conducted from April to May 2019 in Puskesmas Posyandu Nanggulan. The sample collection with purposive sampling, wherein each a group treatment minimum of 18 samples. The independent variable was nutrition counseling media used video and powerpoint. The dependent variable is the knowledge and attitude of pregnant women. The analysis by paired sample and independent sample t test.From the test results free sample there are significant differences in the results of knowledge with p = 0.001 and attitudes with p = 0.006. Then the sample is bound to increase in knowledge and attitudes are significant in the treatment group in the form of video media compared with the control group in the form of powerpoint with p = 0.000.There was an increase in knowledge and attitude of pregnant women significantly after being consulted using video media about anemia problem.
