Abstract

Indonesia is multicultural, which means that it does not only recognize the plurality of certain ethnic groups or cultures, but also emphasizes equality between these cultures. The existence of ethnicity should be considered as the nation's essential wealth that can be used to form social relations, to enrich the nation's cultural assets. In this case, multiculturalism accommodates two (2) things that are contradicted, namely 'Difference' and 'Equality'. Thus, despite the high level of heterogeneity, "vertical and horizontal conflicts", can be reduced because each culture is given the freedom to show its identity and carry out life more autonomously while getting equal recognition of the existence and uniqueness of each. This is the reason why this research was conducted at State Institutions such as DPD – RI.The purpose and objective of this research is to explore opinions and get a general idea of ​​how the strategy of DPD – RI Members to construct their self - concept based on their region of origin in the context of intercultural communication.This study uses a qualitative method with a constructivist paradigm that focuses on Alfred Schutz's tradition of social phenomenology, which is associated with the concept of symbolic interaction.The results showed that there were three (3) self - concept models of the informants, namely: the conservative model; adaptive; interactive, based on three (3) classification, namely: motive – adaptation – interaction.The conclusion obtained is that the scope of the informant's self-concept is not limited to social and political communication, but is closely related to intercultural communication. The slogan “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” has become a symbol of intercultural communication for DPD – RI members as the end result of how they interpret their self - concept.

Abstract

In domestic life, communication between spouses is very important in realizing family harmony. The city of Bandung is experiencing problems with interpersonal communication between married couples. The problems experienced have not found the best solution in an effort to maintain domestic relationships and even almost divorced. This condition occurs in couples who are over 5 years old in a domestic relationship. This lack of good interpersonal communication skills results in prolonged conflicts and the non-realization of a happy and harmonious home life. Based on the identification of problems with partners, the solution offered is to improve interpersonal communication between married couples in the community group of South Cidurian Village, Buahbatu District, Bandung City. . The method to be carried out is training. The results of the training showed that interpersonal communication skills between couples in South Cidurian Village became more effective and realized harmony in the household.

Abstract

University development and competition, both public and private, to be the best is now required. Each of these institutions, whether a university, institute, or high school, is required to be able to win interest and trust from the public, so it must pay attention and maintain good quality for its users. Organizational culture has an important role in an organization. Pasundan University implements three pillars in its organizational culture, namely "Nyunda, Nyantri, and Nyakola." Pasundan University, especially in the Communication Science Study Program, has various kinds of students from various regions who have their own cultures and habits. Cultural diversity is both a potential and a puzzle that always necessitates problem solving. Any uniqueness or something that implies the peculiarity of an area is basically wealth. The conception of a multicultural Indonesia is not only at the physical level but also at the level of consciousness. Indonesia, as an archipelagic country that has various cultures and customs, has as its motto "Bhineka Tunggal Ika," which means different but still one.

Abstract

Jalancagak adalah sebuah kecamatan di Kabupaten Subang, Provinsi Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Berada di wilayah Subang bagian selatan dengan jarak ke ibu kota kabupaten sekitar 18 Kilometer dan 38 Kilometer ke Bandung, Ibukota Provinsi. Topografi Kecamatan Jalancagak adalah area pegunungan dengan ketinggian berkisar 473 - 620 meter di atas permukaan laut yang meliputi 7 (Tujuh) desa. Masalah yang dihadapi mitra : (1) Belum memiliki pemahaman utuh tentang konsep serta manfaat dari Public Relations; (2) Mitra belum memiliki kemampuan dalam melakukan komunikasi yang efektif baik dengan pihak internal ataupun eksternal melalui optimalisasi peran Public Relations BUMDes (Badan Usaha Milik Desa) untuk meningkatkan kerjasama dengan stakeholders. Hal yang besar peluangnya akan mengakibatkan produk dan program dari BUMDes tidak sampai ke publik. Solusi yang dilaksanakan : (1) Pengarahan dalam bentuk pemberian materi tentang konsep /Pola Public Relations BUMDes; (2) Pendampingan oleh tim terkait praktik implementasinya kepada pihak BUMDes dalam meningkatkan komunikasi yang efektif melalui optimalisasi peran Public Relations BUMDes untuk meningkatkan Kerjasama internal /Eksternal dengan para para stakeholders. Hasil yang dicapai ialah : (1) Mitra secara progesif memahami baik secara utuh /Parsial tentang konsep /Pola Public Relations versi BUMDes; (2) Mitra percaya diri dan mampu melakukan komunikasi yang efektif dengan pihak internal /Eksternal melalui optimalisasi peran Public Relations BUMDes dalam konteks meningkatkan kerjasama dengan semua stakeholders melalui program - produk yang ditawarkan.
