Abstract

ABSTRACTThe work of fiction has many signs and meanings are different for each reader. Signs could reflect what might happen in real life, such as the about communication. Similarly as novella titled The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry which have a lot of interpretations. As a result of the extensive interpretation, a lot of readers do not understand what the thing to be conveyed by the author. Therefore, this study looked for signs that confuse the reader and interpret it using semiotics by Charles Sanders Peirce. The study also outlines the signs associated with intrapersonal and interpersonal communication in real life, especially studied of Symbolic Interaction Theory and Coordinated Management of Meaning. ABSTRAKSKarya fiksi memiliki banyak tanda dan makna yang berbeda untuk setiap pembaca. Tanda dapat mencerminkan apa yang mungkin terjadi dalam kehidupan nyata, seperti tentang komunikasi. Demikian seperti novella berjudul The Little Prince karya Antoine de Saint-Exupéry yang memiliki banyak interpretasi. Sebagai hasil dari interpretasi yang luas, banyak pembaca tidak mengerti apa hal yang ingin disampaikan oleh penulis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mencari tanda-tanda yang membingungkan pembaca dan menafsirkannya menggunakan semiotika oleh Charles Sanders Peirce. Studi ini juga menguraikan tanda-tanda yang terkait dengan komunikasi intrapersonal dan interpersonal dalam kehidupan nyata, terutama yang dipelajari tentang Teori Interaksi Simbolik dan Manajemen makna terkoordinasi.

Abstract

AbstrakAdaptasi dalam berinteraksi antar etnis menjadi suatu keharusan di kota yang heterogen dan multi etnis seperti Kota Batam. Upaya menjalin komunikasi antar etnis yang efektif dapat mendorong keharmonisan hubungan suatu masyarakat. Masyarakat etnis Tionghoa di Kota Batam masih memiliki stigma sebagai etnis pendatang, meskipun mereka sudah lama hidup di Indonesia. Catatan sejarah membuktikan bahwa hubungan antara etnis Tionghoa dengan berbagai etnis lain di Indonesia sudah terjalin sejak lama dan memberikan kontribusi yang cukup penting dalam kehidupan sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat khususnya di kota Batam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fenomena perilaku komunikasi (verbal dan non verbal) antara etnis Tionghoa dengan etnis lainnya di kota Batam, serta perilaku komunikasi antar etnisnya. Pendekatan penelitian kualitatif interaktif dengan analisis fenomenologi dengan objek penelitian di lingkungan organisasi PSMTI dan BMTI kota Batam. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perilaku komunikasi verbal antar pribadi masyarakat etnis Tionghoa di dalam lingkungan keluarga pada umumnya banyak menggunakan bahasa etnis masing-masing suku. Sementara penggunaan bahasa Indonesia digunakan untuk pendidikan anak serta sebagai pelengkap dan substitusi beberapa konteks bahasa yang tidak ditemukan padanannya dalam bahasa etnis. Di lingkungan organisasi baik PSMTI maupun BMTI, penggunaan bahasa Indonesia baik secara lisan maupun tertulis menjadi secara lebih dominan. Berbagai bentuk komunikasi non verbal masyarakat etnis Tionghoa, antara lain meliputi penggunaan simbol warna merah, artefak berupa bangunan rumah ibadah dan patung, bahasa tubuh seperti gerakan mengepalkan kedua tangan serta bentuk komunikasi non verbal lainnya. AbstractAdaptation in inter-ethnic interactions is a necessity in a heterogeneous and multi-ethnic city such as Batam City. The results showed that the interpersonal verbal communication behavior of the Chinese ethnic community in the family environment generally uses the ethnic languages of each tribe. Meanwhile, the use of Indonesian is used for children's education as well as as a complement and substitute for several language contexts where no equivalent is found in ethnic languages. In both PSMTI and BMTI organizations, the use of Indonesian both orally and in writing is becoming more dominant. Various forms of non-verbal communication for the Chinese ethnic community include the use of red symbols, artifacts in the form of houses of worship and statues, body language such as clenching fists and other forms of non-verbal communication.

Efforts to establish effective inter-ethnic communication can promote harmonious relationships that are built in this urban community group. Abstract

Practice of Public Relations have recently tended to blur the original concept launched by Public Relations founders. Even though a practice of a Public Relations take a crucial role in run management functions so that the relationship between the companies concerned with the public can be harmoniously intertwined. Hence, the purpose of this research is to determining how the form of deviations from duties and functions of Public Relations in build corporate image. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, descriptive analysis which describes the role of Operational Secretary (OPS) as Public Relations in enhancing the corporate image for a supplier company engaged in construction services business in Batam and the data analysis techniques used by investigators are components of the data analysis by Miles and Huberman Interactive Model. The results of this research indicate that the implementation of the duties and functions of Public Relations as an effort to build corporate image. Implementation of Public Relations activities can not be said optimal because does not have a special section in handling the tasks and functions of Public Relations, but delegate tasks and functions of Public Relations is the Operational Secretary (OPS). The absence of a separate section of Public Relations, limited resources that can be used, and other administrative work that must be done by Operational Secretary (OPS) which takes time and focus is the obstacle faced by Operational Secretary (OPS) in performing duties and functions as Public Relations. The conclusion of this research shows that public relations is a very important to role in build a corporate image. Public Relations role maintaining good communication and relationship with internal and external public companies, to increase the company's existence. With emphasis on quality of service for consumers, establish good relationships with various public companies and tried to give a good impression in the community. So thus a positive corporate image will be formed in accordance with the expectations of the company. Keywords: Deviations, Public Relations, Corporate Image

Abstract

The image of a company can be seen from public relations performance. The more effective public relations division runs its functions in managing the company's image and dealing with problems, the more positive the reputation of the company internally and externally. However, in practice, the function of public relations in companies has started to shift and even obscure the initial concept. In 2012, a supplier company for construction materials in Batam City, Indonesia, experienced internal conflict. The employees conducted an organized protest in the yard of the company building. The protesters were not satisfied with the current wages and demanded a pay increment. This problem was successfully resolved by the mediation of public relations that found a middle ground between the company and workers. After this event, the company reformed the organizational structure by eliminating the public relations division. However, a question arises: what then is the role of public relations? This study aimed to seek the simplification of the role of public relations executed by company management. The study indicated that there was a simplification in the company towards the role of public relations. The simplification manifested by imposing the role and duties of public relations to the operational secretary, which has a different area of expertise, causing a division to handle multiple tasks. The management considered that the operational secretary can ask for help from the management team if it is not capable of carrying out public relations tasks. The other simplification was equating the role of public relations with marketing. Consequently, the public relations division was also burdened with selling the company's products.

Abstract

Penelitian ini ingin mengetahui pesan isi cerita dalam novel “Santri dan Kiai Petani” ditulis oleh Ali Antoni. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui analisis wacana model Van Dijk. Hasilnya menyatakan muatan pesan moral yang ada dalam novel “Santri dan Kiai Petani” adalah bahwa pelajaran yang paling utama sesungguhnya sebuah kehidupan, bukan pelajaran melalui kurikulum ataupun program pelajaran formal. Pesan yang disampaikan memperlihatkan penulis melakukan strategi wacana mempresentasikan pesan utama yang hendak di usung melalui penguatan karakter tokoh utama.

Abstract

Harapan School was built to realize children's independence in learning. The activities include providing learning assistance and recitation guidance for children in Sinduadi Village, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The hope of realizing a better future for children is realized through education. Harapan School currently has one learning location, namely Sinduadi Village. The mentoring and guidance for children in Sinduadi Village with full glory and sincerity carried out by Harapan School succeeded in moving the hearts of this Activity Team and wanting to introduce Harapan School to a broader scope. This Activity Team plans to carry out a promotional program in the form of a company profile which will later be promoted through the social media owned by Sekolah Harapan (such as Instagram and Tiktok) and developed. This activity team hopes this will make Harapan School more widely known by the broader community by taking advantage of the current advances in social media technology and more volunteers who come to help Harapan School

Abstract

This study aims to determine the communication strategies carried out by oil palm farmers in an effort to increase oil palm productivity, as well as inhibiting and supporting factors for oil palm productivity in Bual-Bual Village, East Kutai Regency. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The analytical method used in this study is the data analysis model of Miles and Huberman. Sample determination using purposive random sampling method to oil palm farmers in Bual-Bual Village. The oil palm farmers in Bual-Bual Village are independent farmers and plasma farmers who enter into the partnership. Limited land ownership, which means less attention is paid to the intensification of fertilizer application, fluctuations in oil prices, and a decrease in the purchasing power of oil palm owned by independent smallholders are some of the factors that hinder thes productivity of oil palm independent smallholders. In contrast, plasma farmers experience less optimal maintenance as a result of challenging road access. Innovation strategies, quality strategies, and cost-cutting strategies are the implemented communication strategies

Abstract

Sebagai pendatang di daerah baru, kemampuan komunikasi menjadi faktor utama keberhasilan untuk beradaptasi kepada lingkungan sekitar. Bagi mahasiswa suku Banjar yang memiliki budaya yang melekat dan cara berkomunikasi yang telah tertanam, kemudian merantau ke D.I. Yogyakarta untuk berkuliah, mereka diharuskan memasuki lingkungan baru dengan perbedaan budaya membuat mereka menjadi orang asing di lingkungan tersebut. Perbedaan budaya mahasiswa suku Banjar dengan budaya di lingkungan baru, pada kondisi tersebut mereka akan mengalami gegar budaya yang dapat menyebabkan kesulitan beradaptasi di lingkungan tersebut. Dalam gegar budaya tersebut, bagaimana ketika mereka keluar dari budaya asli berpindah ke lingkungan dengan budaya yang berbeda, serta apa yang mereka hadapi dan bagaimana mereka mengatasi fenomena tersebut agar memahami komunikasi antarbudaya dan mampu beradaptasi di lingkungan baru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara langsung kepada lima mahasiswa suku Banjar yang menjadi alumni SMAN 1 Kotabaru kelas MIPA 1. Teori yang digunakan yaitu komunikasi antarbudaya oleh Tubbs dan Sylvia Moss, teori gegar budaya oleh Kalvero Oberg, teori pengurangan ketidakpastian oleh Charles Berger dan Richard Calabrese, teori akomodasi komunikasi oleh Giles, dan teori akulturasi oleh John W. Berry. Dari penggabungan teori-teori tersebut terbentuk fase dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi fenomena gegar budaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kelima narasumber mengalami gegar budaya yang diawali oleh perasaan senang dan optimis hingga merasakan kekhawatiran dan ketakutan. Perbedaan budaya, bahasa, dan norma-norma yang berlaku di masyarakat membuat mereka rentan mengalami gegar budaya.Kata kunci: Komunikasi antarbudaya; gegar budaya; suku Banjar.

Abstract

Technological developments from time to time will always experience significant changes, one of which is the development of communication technology in the form of social media. Social Media has the purpose of providing information and education to the public about an event or event with the aim of giving an appeal to everyone who uses social media. Klitih is a term often used by the people of Yogyakarta when there is a crime on the highway. The community has its own views on klitih which is a form of anarchism carried out by teenagers. This study aims to determine how important the role of social media in overcoming the phenomenon of klitih in Sleman regency Yogyakarta. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach that is descriptive by interviewing the people of Sleman regency Yogyakarta who have experienced criminal acts klitih. In addition, from the existence of social media such as Twitter whether people feel helped by the information provided by the social media.
