Abstract

This article preliminary explores a forgotten figure of defining concept of Indonesian Islamic economics, Kahrudin Yunus. Differ from other contemporary concepts; Yunus has generously framed sistem ekonomi kemakmuran bersama as a basic principle of Islamic economics. Although Yunus has courageously implanted such Arabic economic thinker as Baqr al-Shadr, the Indonesian political tension that infused capitalism and socialism in the middle of 1955 had imposed him to not define Islamic economics in narrow theological perspective, conversely, Yunus argued that Islamic economics must be built on the benefits of economic politics in order to constructing a democratic system. Yunus forgotten thought would have been a counter debate of contemporary Islamic economics today that somehow enforced the return of golden age of Islamic revival.   Keywords: Islamic economics, kemakmuran bersama, economic thinker

Abstract

Abstract

This study seeks to understand the pragmatism of the development of sharia economic law, and its implications for Islamic financial products in Indonesia. The data comes from the results of interviews and focus group discussions with key informants from academics, practitioners, authorities, and the public. This research finds that pragmatism in the development of Islamic economic law is an approach that still dominates the DSN-MUI fatwas. The pragmatism style used is complex-eclectic pragmatism which is represented through makhārij al-fiqhiyyah, which is to choose a mild opinion by sticking to the strongest method or also called "taysīr al-manhajī". The use of this method is intended to ensure that the fatwa is truly able to answer the needs of the business world, as well as being in line with sharia principles. DSN-MUI also does not use maslahah as a legal consideration in a free or liberal way. Rather, it returns maslahah in consideration of the method, so that it is permissible to use the bay’ al-'inān contract only in a forced state (ḍarurah).

Abstract

Weaving handicrafts became the motor Minangkabau's economy at the beginning of the 20th. It encouraged the establishment of weaving centers, such as Amai Setia (1911) and Andeh Setia (1912). Amai Setia handicrafts' are still standing strong nowadays, while Andeh Setia is thus no longer known by the people of Sulit Air today. This paper uses the social history approach and exposes the history of the emergence and fall of Andeh Setia as an economic movement in Sulit Air. The establishment of Andeh Setia is inseparable from the role of ninik mamak and women in Sulit Air. Andeh Setia's success was ultimately drowned due to the loss of driving figures, the reduction in women's interest in weaving crafts, and the overflow of merantau. This finding also suggests that the economic independence of the people in Sulit Air, depends heavily on the role of perantau. This situation is thus an obstacle to the realization of economic independence.

Abstract

Islamic economics was born from the spirit of Islamization of science. It was a response to the problems and realities of Muslims who face malaise in the middle of the feud ideologies of capitalism and socialism. However, after the Islamisation process took place, there were some fundamental problems: the hegemony of the market, popularism of Islamic economics as a result of the crisis of epistemology. This is the new face of Islamic economics stub of post-Islamism. The economic problems, particularly in Indonesia, should be viewed as a complex things, then analyze and tie the formulation of solution must alsobe done by the complex or plural approach. For this purpose, it would be required a pilot of a systematic framework of Islamic economics epistemology in the world view of Islam. At this point, indonesialize the Islamic economics is part of efforts to establish an economic framework in accordance with the spirit and rich culture of indigenous people of Indonesia. Moreover, in the context of the postmodernist paradigm of economic development, local wisdom should be involved in economic development which is an effort to actualize the sustainable economic development Sebagai disiplin ilmu, ekonomi Islam lahir dari semangat islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan.
