Abstract

Proper insurance system is the first target of millennium development. Indonesian Ministry of Health offers an insurance system for helping reduce infant and maternal mortality rates: The Jampersal. Reproductive health for women and children is the second targets of MDGs . It has been 1 year of Jampersal implementation, therefore it needs to evaluate the effectiveness, especially in a remote area like Ternate in Northern Maluku. The study was conducted by collecting secondary quantitative data and primary qualitative data from 7 Puskesmas in Ternate (out of 8) in August-November 2012. Data were collected from 15 nursery mothers who underwent Jampersal insurance, from 15 midwives, 8 medical doctors and 1 obsgyn specialist from all districts Puskesmas in Ternate. Quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. that Jampersal was significantly increased documentation of medical record on mother who delivers the baby in Puskesmas; who were also increased in number. Previously lots of mother delivers at home with traditional birth attendances without proper documentation on medical records. It means that indirectly, Jampersal should have been helping in controling problems on reproductive and child health. However, it is not yet clear that Jampersal actually helps to reduce infant and maternal mortality rate due to many obstacles following the Jampersal implementations.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Umpan balik sangat dibutuhkan dalam pendidikan sarjana dan pendidikan klinik. Umpan balik yang diberikan didalam pendidikan klinik digunakan untuk memberikan penguatan atas tindakan yang dilakukan atau memberikan koreksi terhadap kesalahan yang dilakukan dalam melakukan suatu tindakan perawatan kepada pasien. Umpan balik yang diberikan oleh dosen bervariasi antara satu dosen dengan dosen yang lainnya. Sehingga diperlukan pelatihan untuk pemberian umpan balik tersebut. Tujuan: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan pelatihan pemberian umpan balik dosen pembimbing klinik kepada mahasiswa. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuasi eksperimental. Subyek penelitian terdiri dari 32 dosen yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi, yang terdiri dari dokter gigi umum sebayak 25 orang, dokter gigi spesialis sebanyak 3 orang, dan dokter gigi S2 sebanyak 4 orang. Hasil: 96,6% menyatakan siap untuk memberikan umpan balik kepada mahasiswa setelah mengikuti pelatihan, pertanyaan kedua menyatakan waktu untuk pelatihan cukup sebesar 84,4%, pertanyaan ketiga menyatakan pelatihan umpan balik yang diberikan merupakan hal yang baru sebesar 84,4%, pertanyaan keempat menyatakan materi umpan balik dengan metode Pendleton merupakan hal yang baru sebesar 100%, dan pertanyaan kelima menyatakan materi yang diberikan cukup lengkap sebesar 96,9%. Kesimpulan: Pelatihan pemberian umpan balik dengan metode Pendleton kepada dosen pembimbing klinik di kedokteran gigi memberikan pengalaman dan pengetahuan yang baru untuk digunakan dalam pembimbingan fase klinik kepada mahasiswa.

Abstract

Research on the impacts of the ‘requirement system’ on student learning is still rare, however the system is still widely applied by Dental Schools in many countries. The major consequent of this system is the unpreparedness of students’ learning prior to presenting patients with particular complaints. Objective: This study aimed to explore the effect of the ‘requirement system’ on students’ learning strategy in Dental Education University of Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto, Indonesia. Methods: This was a qualitative-phenomenography study. The collection of data was through observations and interviews. The number of subjects was 13 students of the same batch in a clinical education level, determined by purposive sampling. Observations by 2 clinical teachers were done in advance and lasted for six weeks, followed by in-depth interviews. The analysis followed the phenomenography method. Results: Interviews revealed that application of the ‘requirement system’ had prompted the students to get the patients and to learn or not learn correspondingly to the specified cases. Students will have adequate preparation to learn if they are motivated to discuss with the teachers, having previous experiences, and if the patient is perceived to be special. Inadequate preparation of learning occurred when students felt tired, insufficient time between patients’ arrival and presentation in front of clinical teachers, and repetition of the case. Observations revealed that preparation for learning did not consequently lead to students’ performance in doing clinical work. ‘Well-done’ up to ‘less than expected’ performances were found in both single-cases as well repetition-cases. Conclusion: ‘Requirement system’ driven students’ preparation for learning. However, number of cases did not. Modifying the ‘requirement system’ and improving the quality of clinical supervision are two important things suggested by this study

Abstract

Background: One of the most important factors in providing health services is communication. Effective communication between patient-physician will have an impact on health outcomes. Nevertheless, a gap still occurs in patient-physician communication.Objective: This study aimed to determine the correlation between the core concepts of the well-established Health Belief Model: perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers and cues to action with the concept of self-efficacy in applying the newly developed Indonesian Model of Assertive Communication called "CERDAS”.Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted with 202 eligible women of the Family Welfare Programme in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The samples were selected using quota sampling. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test.Results: Results of the Pearson correlation tests between self efficacy and perceived susceptibiliy showed r: 0.191, perceived severity r: 0.239, perceived benefits r: 0.256, perceived barriers r: 0.272, and cues to action r: 229; with all values p<0.05.Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between perceived vulnerability, perceived severity, perceived benefits and perceived barriers, as well as cues to action with self-efficacy in applying the new Model of Assertive Patient-Physician Communication, "CERDAS”.
