Abstract

Sugarcane harvest results in plant residues, consisting of leaves, stems and roots nearly 20 ton ha-1. The plantation of PTPN VII in Cinta Manis District applied urea with a dosage of 5 kg ha-1 but the result was not effective. There is a potential to try a higher dosage of urea to enhance trash decomposition. This research aims to evaluate urea application on biomass decomposition. This research was conducted on the Plot 07 Rayon 3 of PTPN VII, District of Cinta Manis at Ketiau, Lubuk Keliat of Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, using Split Plot design. Main plot is trash sampling time and subplot is urea dosage with three replicates. ANCOVA was used for soil data. The rate of decomposition of the litter was calculated by the change in the initial condition of research with each week on observation resulting in decomposition rate graphs. Urea application at 10 kg ha-1 reduced C/N of the litter ratio to almost 21:1 and was followed by the highest total nitrogen increase to 0.18%, while the highest organic carbon decline for urea treatment of 6 kg ha-1 amounted to 13.78%. In conclusion, higher rate of urea application is still required to enhance sugarcane litter decomposition.

Abstract

Abstract

Priatna SJ, Rahman D, Supriyadi S. 2020. Land suitability assessment for some carbohydrate food crops at wetland area in Arisan Jaya. Jurnal Lahan Suboptimal : Journal of Suboptimal Lands 9(2): 117-126.The nature condition and lack of knowledge about soil characteristics have become a limitation for crops cultivation and development in Arisan Jaya. This study aimed to determine the type of crops that has potential to be developed in site. The assessment was carried out in Arisan Jaya, Pemulutan Barat Sub-District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatera from April to August 2015. The study method is 1:30.000 semi-detailed survey. The location of the sample was determined by grid method with one sample for every 1.000 meters with 10 sample sites. A disturbed soil sample was taken as deep as 150 cm from the ground surface. Land characteristics data were matched with crops growth requirements based on the suitability classes set for wetland rice, dry land rice, corn, cassava and sweet potato. The distribution of soil properties was known by IDW (Inverse Distance Weighting) interpolation method, which was overlapped to determine the distribution of land suitability classes. Very acidic soil conditions was a major limiting factor for crops cultivation in general (the actual suitability class is Nf). Wetland rice was relatively more suitable to be cultivated than dryland rice in the site.  Corn and cassava could be planted as rotational crops before the rainy season or after rice season, although the productivity would not be optimal (S2 potential suitability class). Climatic conditions was another limiting factor for the development of sweet potato at the site (S3 potential suitability class).

Abstract

This study aims to identify and know the discharge of water and sedimentation in the area Upper of Sub-Das Komering South Sumatera. The results of study indicate the biophysical conditions of the majority Sub-watershed upstream relative Komering particularly disturbed hydrological conditions, which thought caused by the expansion of the clearing for various activities with land use patterns that are less appropriate. The average value river discharge of water in Sub watershed Komering ranged from 0.89 to 1566.51 m3/second. The average value of the largest river discharge in the river there Komering, while the average value of the smallest river discharge in the river there Kejantor. Total sediment load in each sub-sub Komering upstream watershed is approximately 140,721.73 tons / day, but the sediment load in rivers measured at the main Komering only about 128,579.14 tons / day then there is still a difference of approximately 12142.6 tons / day , is expected because of the large load of sediment that settles on the way of water from upstream into the river Komering. Keywords: discharge of water , sedimentation; Komering watershed

Abstract

The city of Palembang is one of the cities that experienced rapid development and became the center of human activity. So that the expansion of the city to the periphery causes green open space reduction. The reduction of green open space inflicted the disruption of the balance between nature and human systems. Retention ponds include reduction of green open space border that serves as a drainage system so as to prevent flooding during the rainy season and maintain groundwater reserves during the dry season. This study aims to: 1) identify and evaluate the existing condition of soil properties (physical and chemical) in the green open space development area of Tanjung Barangan retention pond in plan area that will be functioned as a retention pond of Palembang City; 2) to see the relation between the physical and chemical of soil condition with the type of vegetation that will be developed in the area of green open space development plan; 3) recommend the appropriate vegetation types to be developed in the green open space development plan, retention pond area in Palembang City. This research used descriptive normative method and sampling was done by sample purposive sampling. The research was conducted in the administrative area of Palembang City, the sampling point was in the green open space development area of Tanjung Barangan retention pond in Bukit Baru Village, Ilir Barat 1 Subdistrict of Palembang City, there were 4 (four) research sample points. It can be concluded that based on the results of laboratory analysis and direct observation in the field, the condition of soil properties of green open space development plan area of Tanjung Barangan retention pond physically and chemically that was: average effective depth value belong to deep (> 100 cm); soil texture of clay loam, clay and loam; platy and granular soil structures; soil color gray, yellowish brown to black; moderate to moderately rapid soil permeability; soil pH strongly acidic N-total low to moderate; Soil P2O5 is very low; K2O is very high; and C-organic is low to very high. Based on the results of the analysis, the recommendation of vegetation type from the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 5 of 2008 showed that The Tanjung Barangan retention ponds contain 3 (three) types of vegetation recommended namely casuarina (Casuarina equisetifolia), coconut (Cocos nucifera) and fern tree (Filicium decipiens). While there were 4 (four) types of vegetation can be recommended with the condition of the soil management by calcification using agricultural lime, such as lime tohor (CaO), calcite (CaCO3) or dolomite (CaMg (CO3)2) which is munding rubber vegetation (Ficus elastica), mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), bungur (Lagerstroemia speciosa) and resin (Agathis loranthifolia).

Abstract

Priatna SJ. 2019. Utilization of palm oil liquid waste on some changes in the soil physical properties at PT. Waymusi Agroindah palm oil plantation area. in: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal 2019, Palembang 4-5 September 2019. pp. 554-558.  Palembang: Unsri Press.Palm oil liquid waste is one type of palm oil waste that has the potential to be reused to improve the quality of the land and support the growth of the oil palm plantations themselves, considering that the potential of this waste is quite large and the elements needed are very important to improve chemical fertility and soil physics.  This research activity aims to determine the effect of palm oil liquid waste utilization (LCPKS) on improving some physical properties of soil. This research was carried out on oil palm plantation areas that were applied to liquid waste, by observing soil samples on two into the soil (0-30 cm and 30-60 cm). Soil sampling is carried out at three sampling points, namely: near the sewage application ditch, between oil palm plants and in the control location. Parameters of observed soil physical properties include: permeability; porosity, texture and weight of soil contents. The results showed that the utilization of liquid waste had an effect in increasing the value of soil porosity (1.3 to 18.25% and soil permeability (25.75% to 78.7%), and reduced the value of soil weight (1.77 to 40.24%), while the texture has no effect, where the results of the texture determination before application and after application have the same texture class, namely: sandy clay to sandy clay loam. Keywords: palm oil, palm liquid waste, soil physical characteristics

Abstract

Priatna et al, 2019. Land Quality Improvement Through the Utilization of Palm Oil Waste (Study Case of PT. Waimusi Agroindah Palm Oil Plantation). pp. 421-429.Oil palm plantations are one of the natural resource-based businesses that have strategic roles and contributions to the Indonesian economy. Increasing the development of the oil palm plantation sector needs to be balanced with a good environmental management, control and preservation system. The application of clean technology is one part of sustainable and environmentally friendly development that needs to be applied in the stages of waste management. This research activity aimed to determine the effect of palm oil liquid waste utilization (LCPKS) on the quality of land in oil palm plantations of PT. Waimusi Agroindah, Mesuji Raya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The dose of LCPKS utilized was 218.77 m3 / ha / year from the 8th pool (aerobic pond) which was transported using a 15,000 liter capacity tank to the study block. The distribution of LCPKS in the study block was carried out by longbed measuring 2.5 x 1.5 x 0.25 m which was interconnected with a small ditch in a row. The block used as a comparison (control block) was only given conventional fertilizer N, P and K without LCPKS. Changes in land quality were assessed by observing soil properties in 6 layers with a depth of 20 cm in each layer and through crop productivity data. The results showed that in general the conditions of soil properties (pH, organic C, N-total P available, K-dd and elements Na, Ca and Mg) experienced an increase that could be seen up to a depth of 40 cm. The element that experienced the most increase was the element P, whereas in the N and K elements the increase that occurred was not too significant. Based on productivity data, oil palm plants in the study locations have higher TBS harvests compared to control locations. The increase in plant productivity in the study area increased by an average of 22.01% when compared to control land that was not applied by LCPKS. LCPKS utilization activities on land are considered to have a positive impact, provided that N and K fertilizers are still needed to further optimize plant growth & productivity.

Priatna SJ, Prayitno MB, Bakri B. 2020. Utilization of wet land potential for plant development oil palm in  sriwijaya university. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).One of Sriwijaya University asset is a very wide land at Inderalaya. The area is estimated to be 712 hectares, but it is still not fully utilized because some of its land is wetlands. With this potential, a study was conducted to evaluate the suitability level of oil palm in wetlands within the Sriwijaya University at Inderalaya. The survey activities are classified as detailed soil surveys (1: 10.000 scale). The location of the soil sample are determined with purposive sampling method with 40 cm of boring depth from the ground surface. Evaluation of land capability is done by matching method between the land characteristics with the optimal conditions for oil palm growth. The results showed that the actual suitability class on the land in general was classified as S3 (marginally suitable) with several inhibiting factors in the form of inundated land conditions, pH values and CEC that were not supportive and also minimal nutrient availability. Land quality improvement activities can be carried out on land to increase the suitability class to S1 (very suitable).
