Abstract

This journal aims to understand the comparative analysis from the perspective of western psychology and Islamic psychology about music therapy and zikir. Music therapy is a health therapy through music media used to help individuals to improve, maintain, and maintain good mental and physical health. Some of the benefits of music therapy include increasing concentration, reducing stress and anxiety, and managing emotions to be more positive. Although music is a universal and acceptable element in all spheres of life, music can not replace the spiritual needs of some individuals. The spiritual needs of every religion are different, including Islam. The spiritual needs of Muslims can be fulfilled through religious activities such as prayer, recitation of the Qur'an, prayer, and remembrance of Allah SWT so that it can be more meaningful psychologically and spiritually. Zikir is a religious therapy used by individuals in an attempt to get closer to Allah SWT. One of the benefits of zikir is to relieve unrest, so the individual who often remembers can feel the serenity and tranquility in the heart and soul.
